If hiking the Samaria Gorge feels too challenging, the Imbros Gorge offers a gentler alternative. This 8-kilometer trail is less strenuous but equally captivating. Imbros is the second most popular gorge in Crete, running parallel to the Samaria Gorge. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to hike, with the narrowest part just 1.60 meters wide. The first half-hour descends through wildflower meadows before narrowing dramatically. Legend has it that two brothers banished from Imbros in Turkey settled here, naming the gorge. Historically, it served as the main route between Chania and Chora Sfakion and was a critical evacuation path for British soldiers during WWII. The trek ends at Komitades, where you can relax at a local café. From there, we continue to Chora Sfakion for a swim and lunch by the Libyan Sea. Hands down, one of my favorite experiences in Crete! We started the day exploring Agia Sofia Cave in the rain and mist, then made our way through the mountains to Elafonissi Beach, where the weather completely transformed into the most magical beach day! Elafonissi absolutely lives up to the hype! Crystal-clear, calm waters, breathtaking scenery, and genuinely one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever visited. I'd go back in a heartbeat and spend several days there! Our guide was wonderful and knowledgeable, and major kudos to our driver for navigating those winding mountain roads! The only downside was having to wait about an hour on the bus for other travelers whose ferry was delayed by bad weather. A little frustrating, but otherwise an incredible experience. Highly recommend! Just remember that group tours operate on a shared schedule. If flexibility matters to you, consider a private tour. Either way, Elafonissi is an absolute MUST!

Veerna was a wonderful host and teacher. She is very knowledgeable of the history of Crete and it was great to learn the story behind the food we prepared. Her and her family really made us feel a part of their family. The food was delicious and there was always someone around to help out if needed. Not to mention the olive grove scenery was beautiful! Delightful rustic evening

The hosts Sophia and Maneleo were kind, accommodating and fun. We had a transport mixup - arrived an hour late in the rain., but they carried on. We set right to cooking - chopping, dicing, mixing and into clay pots for the fire. we milked goats and experienced real sustainability. They grow everything they eat including making their own wine and Raki. It is raining so we forego the tour of the olive groves in favor of a visit with their YiaYia who lives just up the road. The food is freah amd tasty, the mandolin playing a nice touch and the conversation delightful. Would recommend. Its a rustic evening in the mountains .

The best crew we’ve ever had! Book it! Everyone was kind and very knowledgeable. It was a wonderful experience from start to end. We felt super safe and the communication was amazing. Definitely worth it if...

Definitely worth it if you want to visit these hard to reach locations without the chaos of a big tourist ship. Everything was well planned, and the boat had plenty of food, drinks, and places to hang out while sailing. And there are things to do whether you want to run up to the fortress in Gravmousa and swim to Balos lagoon, or just hang out on the boat. If I had to criticize something, I wish they'd separate smokers into their own tour, or make the whole thing non-smoking. We only had one smoker, and it was annoying enough. Not much space on the boat to get away from it.

Our driver Andy was so sweet and hospitable! During our drives to each location, he educated us on the history of Crete in regards to olive trees and vineyards. The staff in each location were so nice and you can just tell they love what they do. Made me appreciate the goods more knowing how much work goes into it. Definitely recommend!
