This was an incredible experience. Nikos, the bus operator navigated windy roads safely. Simona, the tour guide, was an absolute pleasure. She narrated so much cultural tidbits and island galore on the way to the beach. We stopped along the way to see a historical cave. The beach was beautiful. On the way back we were taken to an amazing restaurant for the best local food.

It is a rugged and adventurous day out at a beautiful beach. Our driver Manoli and host Jo were fantastic - everything ran to schedule and the full day passed very quickly. There is a bit of a walk from the bus drop off to the beach but well worth it.

The Elafonissi tour was great! Simona, our guide, was amazing and so was the driver. Everything was perfectly on time and very well organized. We discovered some lovely local restaurants along the way, and Elafonissi itself was stunning (even though the sand wasn’t as pink as expected and it was quite crowded with tourists). The water was crystal clear, and we were lucky to have perfect weather that day. I definitely recommend this tour!

Nice experience

Celene_F, Sep 2026
The beach is gorgeous! Super crowded though, people were all on top of each other. The sand wasn’t as pink as I expected. You have to really look when the waves are passing by on the sand. The little town before the beach was cute, it’s a bit of a stair master going to the cave but was nice. It was recommended to get snacks and drinks from there so that we don’t waste time waiting on line at the beach. Our guide Thomas was great, everything was punctual and on time. Very knowledgeable in the history of Crete. The AC was good in the bus on the way but coming back it was pretty hot.

Not up to the hype

Ciara_E, Sep 2026
The beach is super windy and chairs and umbrellas sell out fast. It is very difficult to get your own umbrella to stay up due to the wind Communication for pick up point was not good. We booked on viator and it stated one pick-up point there however the company had sent an email that went to spam about location change for pick up but they never confirmed the information with us. After receiving a call for public guide that we were not at the right place they connected us with a woman in the office who was extremely rude. She yelled and was hard to understand. When asked if there was someone else to talk to she became even more rude and said to call rh guide which was not possible for us because we ar from oi of country and the call kept failing. The woman in the office said the bus would not wait for us and that we could not get a refund even though the location change communication was never confirmed. Talking with her was hands down the worst experience we have had in this country. After she rudely hung up on me our guide called and said he was sending a mini bus to get us. Our guide was Thomas and he was amazing. He was kind and easy to communicate with. He gave great Information about the scenery during the drive and shared history and myths about the area. Thomas made an otherwise poor experience much more tolerable. The last thing I would not is for tourists to be prepared for communication issues related to food allergies. An individual on our trip asked the shop keeper about nuts in the food and was told no but it did. The guides and locals do not seem to understand what anaphylaxis is. Thank goodness the individual had an epic pen and I had one as well well because he needed both and the guide and driver seemed to have no urgency in getting him access to a hospital; so be prepared with a plan is you have any health issues or food allergies!

Dear Ciara, We are sorry that you were unhappy with parts of your experience, but we do need to clarify a significant factual point in this review. The afternoon before the excursion, our office sent you an SMS with the updated pickup location, including a Google Maps link, and specifically asked you to confirm it. You replied, “Yes that works,” confirming that you had received and understood the pickup information. Therefore, the statement that the location change was never confirmed with you does not reflect the communication we have on record. When our guide discovered that you were waiting at the wrong location, our team contacted you to find a solution. During that call, before our staff member had the opportunity to explain how we could help, you immediately requested a refund. Our office representative was simultaneously trying to communicate the urgency of the situation, attempting to explain that the vehicle could not simply delay the entire excursion. We strongly disagree with the characterization that she was simply “extremely rude,” or refused to help. That is not how our team conducts itself. The situation was unfolding under significant time pressure, and it is possible that our staff member sounded more abrupt or cold than intended. The purpose was to address an urgent logistical problem, not to be disrespectful to you. Yet we are very pleased to hear that Thomas was able to turn the situation around for you. Regarding the food-allergy incident, guests with serious allergies are always strongly encouraged to inform us in advance and to carry their prescribed emergency medication, but we understand how concerning such a situation can be. We respect that not every aspect of an excursion will meet every guest's expectations. However, we believe it is important for travelers to have an accurate picture of what happened. Our communication records show that the updated pickup location was sent to you in advance and explicitly acknowledged by you. We appreciate your positive feedback about Thomas and wish you safe travels. Best regards, Elafonissos Travel Team.

World class beach worth seeing!

Amanda_D, Sep 2026
This was a really great experience, the drive to the beach is a cool way to see more of the countryside and then the beach itself is one of the prettiest in the world for a reason. It’s worth the crowds in my opinion, it’s really lovely! Only downside is I wish we had more time at the beach! Great experience and I like that we get to stop & have lunch on the way back!

Long journey but worth it

It was a lovely day at the beach. The journey getting there is very long but that is understandable as you have to pick up many travellers. Jo our guide was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and informative. Manouki our driver was ver experienced. Highly recommend.

Cretan Sea - Swim in Paradise

Michelle_N, Aug 2026
Fabulous day filled with culture and swimming in one of Cretes best beaches. Agios Sofia was very spiritual and visiting a local village coming home was lovely surprise. You have to try the slow cooked goat with chestnuts ! Jo and Vasili were fantastic hosts. Efharisto!

Need to think once again

Sinem_M, Aug 2026
Tour leader are excellent, providing tips & history. The bus was always on time. The stops on the way were excellent. But you should not expect much about the beach. You need to walk nearly 15 minutes after getting off the bus and you can barely see the pink sand. We arrived around 11AM. It was very hot, so crowded and no umbrella or sunbed was available. Many people were just waiting in cafes for departure time because they could not enjoy the beach.

Must visit beach experience

Jennifer_R, Aug 2026
Want to visit one of the world's top beaches and experience the beauty of its famous pink sand? Then this is the tour for you. The journey includes a stop on the way there and another on the return, plus a drive through the mountains that will leave you wondering how a coach can possibly navigate them! The tour guide was informative, and the coach driver was fun and an exceptionally skilled driver. We found that the actual beach time was closer to 3.5 hours, as you need to factor in the walk between the coach drop-off point and the beach. My recommendation is to head straight into the sea as soon as you arrive. It's the quietest time of the day, making it perfect for getting your pink sand photos. Afterwards, walk over to the little island to enjoy the calm, lagoon-like waters and the beautiful view back towards the beach. Then simply relax and make the most of the crystal-clear water—it's an unforgettable experience.

Amazing trip to visit Elafonissi Beach if you don’t have a car! No frills no sales pitches. The tour guides were soo friendly and great. We had a mix up with pick up location and the company took control and got us where we needed to go! Amazing customer service. Definitely recommend if you want to visit Elafonissi Beach and enjoy a scenic drive.

Simona was an amazing guide with plenty of fun and factual stories along the way to Elafonissi! I really enjoyed the add ons of the temple and the chance to have authentic Cretan cuisine! A great day out and was glad to have an experienced driver take us around the winding roads 😊

Thank you for your kind words!

Amazing beach experience.

Lan_L, Jun 2026
Amazing tours. One of the best we have taken. Simona kept us engaged with stories and kept us informed. Multiple pick up points so super easy wherever you are staying. Our driver was amazing with all the hair pin turns. We had a first stop at a small village to climb to the cave/and or have breakfast with clean bathrooms. Great latte and juice. Buy some donkey milk hand cream and olive oil. We had about 45 minutes there. The beach is amazing. Weather was perfect. Water is calm and shallow. Food and drinks steps away, calm water for kayak and paddle board, showers, umbrella . Plenty of convenience stores for you stop by and get stuff. We had 4 hours which was perfect. We then stopped another village where you can grab a Cretan meal or expore for 1 hour. Clean restrooms. We were back at our hotel by 7:30. It was a 12 hour day but the the timing of the stops were perfect for meals and it was just the right amount of time at each stops.

Fantastic way to get to Elafonissi!

Chelsie_H, May 2026
The tour guided bus ride to Elafonissi beach far exceeded our expectations! The stop at the Agia Sofia cave on the way there was fantastic (and the breakfast bites at the on-site cafe were delicious), plus the lunch on the return was fantastic as well- the goat was incredible! Joanne was a perfect guide, educating and entertaining us along the way. Four hours was the perfect amount of time at the beach. Highly recommend!!

A great day at the beach

Denise_W, May 2026
This was a great full day experience. The bus ride was an adventure in itself. Our driver, Kostos, was absolutely amazing at navigating the winding mountain roads. The views were breathtaking. Once we arrived at the beach, there is a bit of a walk down on a gravel path so wear good shoes. We had about 4 hours to enjoy the beach. After we left the beach, we were taken to a nice little restaurant for a late lunch. Our guide, Jo, was very nice and gave us a lot of information throughout the day. Would recommend this excursion.

Was overcast and chilly when we went. All the same, we still had a great time and tour operator was very efficient and communicative. Stop at Theodorou cave was was a wonderful bonus despite the 257-step climb.

Cecilia_K, May 2026
We loved the experience. Simona was the best tour guide. We also appreciated seeing all the different parts of Crete on the way, also brief stops to experience local culture and food.

Around Chania

Rent_S, May 2026
An excellent country/seaside visits Long trip but was worth it and we’re in Late 70s. Joan, our tour guide was truly excellent.

Loved it

Nicole_L, May 2026
We loved the tour to Elafonissi Beach. I now understand why it is rated one of the best beaches in the world.

Go to enjoy the beach, not to get insta shots of “pink” sand

Danita_B, May 2026
Simone was a wonderful and engaging guide. The only complaint I have is how many stops are made to pick up additional people outside of Chania. Some of the stops are barely a couple blocks apart. I enjoyed the breaks before and after the beach - the taverna in Elos has huge food portions. The beach: the beach is lovely! And it’s perfect for beachy activities: relaxing, snoozing, sipping a drink, going in the water. It is NOT as pink as the totally touched up photos online would have you believe, and that is fine. If the only reason you’re going is to get insta-photos of a pepto-pink beach, you’re going to be disappointed. The water was quite chilly in early May. Beach chairs/umbrellas are 20€

This tour was worth it.

Jesse_V, May 2026
Agia Sofia was a bit rushed but otherwise we really enjoyed the tour to Elafonisi beach. Try to book on a sunny day if you can as it was pretty cold when we got there with the clouds and wind.

Brilliant tour!

Callum_V, May 2026
Fantastic day trip with brilliant informative tour. Eleanor’s beach was beautiful and 4 hours there was perfect. Other stops were also great including a lovely Souvlaki and goat dish at Elos. Whole day was seamless and Thomas the tour guide and the bus driver made sure we were one of the first buses to arrive at each stop and were ahead of the traffic. Pick ups and drop offs were also great. Would massively recommend.

Not really pink

Nicholas_K, Apr 2026
I'm not sure it can really be called "pink" beach... I didn't see much pinkness at all. So it was just another day on a beach. Overall, the tour was well-organized and was conducted flawlessly. The bus driver was amazing at navigating the narrow roads.
