The trip to Elafonissi was extremely enjoyable. Simona is an excellent guide, very attentive and willing to help and provide information in a pleasant way. Our driver, Kostas, drove very carefully. Perhaps, indeed, you would need more hours actually spent at the beach. Elafonissi is a great place and you need 5-6 full hours to enjoy without stress.

The Elafonissi tour was great! Simona, our guide, was amazing and so was the driver. Everything was perfectly on time and very well organized. We discovered some lovely local restaurants along the way, and Elafonissi itself was stunning (even though the sand wasn’t as pink as expected and it was quite crowded with tourists). The water was crystal clear, and we were lucky to have perfect weather that day. I definitely recommend this tour!

I'm still in awe thinking about how beautiful this beach was. It's so hard to get good photos of it, as they just dont seem to show the brilliant and natural colors that you can visually see. I absolutely love beaches and have been to well over 100 of them. This is the most beautiful one I have ever seen. It didn't disappoint! It's a little bit of a walk to get to it from where the bus stops. It can get a little crowded, but you can walk about thigh high through the water to go across to another patch of land that had areas available to put a towel out and enjoy the scenery. It really does have pink sand! Beautiful!

Enjoyed our Guide, Simone, our guide and our driver however. We traveled to Elafonisi on Oct. 1. We picked people up for a day trip to Knossos excursion along with our Elafonisi outing. I believe that combining the two added 2 or more hours of bus travel to the trip… that was unfortunate.

Dear Mr Jim, It’s absolutely impossible to add these 2 tour together as you mention as Elafonisi is in west Crete while Knossos is in east Crete . The pick up you are referring to must have been an early morning pick up with a mini van that we use to pick people up from some hotels that are not easily accessible by the big bus . And this for sure was at the same time in the morning and a short time in the afternoon after the end of each tour seperately . So for sure it did not add so many hours you mention because the bus is already in Chania. Despite that we are happy you enjoyed the tour .

Nice beach but a real journey to get there

The beach was beautiful, but very crowded. This is worth noting. Its not like the pictures, ie secluded and serene. Its also a decent walk from bus stop to the beach so elderly may struggle. The bus trip itself too a very long time. Its 4-5 hours in transit, so you are really only at the beach for 4 hours. The bus goes all over the place picking people up. We would have happily paid double the ticket to go direct. The bus was air conditioned and comfortable. There is a major rest stop both ways, which is nice. Fair warning the road to the beach is winding and high around mountain tops, so you may have motion sickness. The tour guide was professional, and had good English. It came as a 'guided tour' which was fine, but unexpected. We're glad we went, but probably wouldn't do it again.

Destination was beautiful. Basic information such as cost of restrooms, location of restrooms, cost of umbrellas and more specific travel time would've been more helpful. Maybe provide a link for a basic map of the area. Doing so would be nice tp help navigate beach area a little more efficiently. Our party was picked up at our hotel location first, very early, but no information along the way of how many pick up stops were given. Then we experienced bus "issues" delaying our trip approximately 30 minutes. Manolis was a fantastic driver, handling the hairpin turns expertly and professionally! We arranged for shuttle pick up for a member of our party and the driver was extremely rude dropping off and then picking up. Then he told us to be at pick up point at a specfic time but was 15 minutes late picking us up. The information given during the tour was basic. Improvements need to be made.

Dear Chrisanthy. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. As Almyrida is outside our regular pickup range and in the opposite direction of the one the bus is heading, when we offer a pickup from there we have to put it quite early in order for the smaller vehicle to meet the bus in Chania at the time it's passing from there. And from Chania the bus continues to pick up in the direction of travel. This unfortunately makes you experience spending a little extra time on the bus. As for the extra delay caused our guide and driver made sure for it not to affect your program, so you still got the planned free time at the three stops that we do. We are sorry that you experienced the driver of the shuttle van at Elafonissi being rude. He is not our employee and we can't lecture him on how to behave. We can only apologise that he wasn't polite to you. Usually our guide is quite informative about the things you can find at Elafonissi and also quite careful with the departure times. Maybe because of the delay the guide got a little confused and wasn't quite as detailed as usually. King regards Elafonissos Travel

Trip was really nice, our guide Thomas was very friendly. The first stop at Agia Sofia, was impresive. Elafonissi beach is very beautiful, and worth visiting. Only the last stop was a bit disapointing, it was a very small Village, there was not so much to do, just a couple of tavernas. What was very nice, that you could buy fresh honey over there.

The beach is beautiful. The tour guide was helpful and driver was very good. If you want to have the most time at the beach I would suggest another tour. We followed the itinerary and had about 3 hours on the beach, but the stop in Elos was not needed. We also needed to drop off and pick up a group for Balos Beach boat which added at least an hour round trip on the bus for those going to Elafonisi. Most annoying, there was a couple of rude people 20 minutes late to the bus from Balos boat. The tour had said when to be at the bus. They should not make 50 people wait for 2 very disrespectful people. In total leaving from Chania we were on the bus for 6 hours. Bus was pretty comfortable.

The driver was exceptional in the safe way he navigated the treacherous roads. Our guide, Simone was a knowledgeable and affable guide. The stops along way make the day more interesting. We anticipated that we would be able to rent lounges and umbrellas. None were available and finding shade was impossible. We took a wonderful hike of the islet instead. I would have liked an easier was to contact our guide as we needed clarification on the departure time.

The beach is beautiful. Thomas is a wonderful guide. He is informative and gives great culinary advice. The next day we tried the delicious combination of Cretan honey and graviera cheese he suggested we . The Hagia Sophia cave is an amazing extra to the trip.

The actual tour was amazing! Would be nice if there was an option to skip out in stopping for food on the way home. Also pick up stated on my voucher at 8am and did not arrive until 8:30. Not the drivers fault, I guess the tour started in Chania and we were 1/2 hour away. Should have stated that on the voucher/website

Dear Michelle, The day you made your reservation we had sent you a detailed message including your pickup point and time providing you with the link with the exact distance from your hotel to the pickup location. After explaining to you that our bus could not pass through the narrow road your hotel was located, you confirmed the details of your booking. The evening before the excursion you received a message from us with your guide's name and phone number in case of an emergency. The morning of the excursion you were not at the pickup point at the agreed time. Our guide tried calling you several times but your telephone was closed. Our bus waited for you 10 minutes at the spot, but you never showed up. With no other way to reach you and having delayed the rest of the group, our bus had to leave to proceed with the excursion. From our point of view and since you were a no-show, it is unfair to comment like that. Best regards, Elafonissos Travel Team.

Very well organized and coordinated and great communication in advance with tour leader Simona. Simona was charming and very informative and her presentation was marvelous. Great information and all information was very helpful. I highly recommend so much easier to let someone else do the driving. I met new friends and we hated to leave the beach, however, the four hours was enough time. Stop in the village was cute. Find the bakery. There is a taverna but very busy and not long enough stay to enjoy a late lunch. Great tour and I can’t say enough good things about Simona.

Pros: Nice beach. Cons: 1. too late arrival no sunbed available at the beach. Elafonissi, in the middle of August, at 12pm? Definitely not a good choice. i was so exhausted for the long bus ride and couldn't get the umbrella/sunbed. it took 4 hours to get there since i was picked up at 8am. not effective at all. 2. questionable restaurant the cave was nice. the restaurant in Elos was mid, if honest, quite bad. but there wasn't enough alternatives. liked the atmosphere but the food is... feel bad even though I did 3 hours of swim. The description should include "you should bring your own umbrella and lunchbox for quality time." The beach was really nice, but would be much better if we arrived at 10am, at least.

Best thing I did on the whole trip. Chania was our first real stay in Greece and this was the best experience to start it off. Our tour guide for the bus ride has the best gift of the gab! She was so knowledgeable and entertaining for the whole bus ride to elafonisi and the ride was so enjoyable. We drove through tiny towns, stopped at a cafe for breakfast and bathrooms and the whole way they gave us informative wonderful facts, stories and pointed out cool things to know! When we got to elafonisi you have 4 hours about to enjoy the beach, it is lively and wonderful. We ended up paying for beach chairs but that was 20 £ which was for 2 chairs and an umbrella, totally worth it if you can get them. The water was freezing but incredible. Most beautiful water. The ride back the tour guide let us just ride in silence which is so nice after a long day in the sun. We stopped at a wonderful restaurant on the way back and I had goat in the oven which was incredible!! very moist and so delicious. I would do this again if I came back.
