This was an incredible experience and I cannot rate it highly enough! Veerna provides a fun, hands-on, traditional cooking experience in her large outdoor kitchen (she also has an indoor option for bad weather). Her brother Kostas and his son Alex help out as well, and the experience is informative, fun, and tasty! Taking this class added substantially to our knowledge of Crete and our understanding of Cretan culture. The cooking itself is not burdensome at all as the team makes it easy to learn and the tasks are all shared, making it feel fun and enjoyable. The recipes you make are shared afterwards so that you can replicate the deliciousness at home. Don't miss this opportunity to learn, cook, and enjoy a meal with this fun and gracious family!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this family-run cooking class in Crete. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like old friends and made to feel part of the family. The hosts shared not only their delicious recipes but also fascinating stories about Cretan culture, traditions, and local ingredients. We didn’t “see” much of Chania to be honest, but we what did was one of the greatest experiences EVER! (One also that I’m proud to say my husband went along with, begrudgingly at first but still hasn’t stopped taking about it 😂). We took a 12 person traditional Crete cooking class in a family owned olive 🫒 grove! They picked us up from the port (we were the only ones from our ship that did it). We met people from Melbourne, Australia, Colorado, Boston that had booked from a tour site like we did. Vareena’s Cooking class! 😘 We scratch cooked traditional lamb, potatoes, carrots, onions in a huge stone oven, made traditional phyllo dough to make spanakopita and cheese pie, made Crete tzatziki, drank wine & Raki, and shouted “Yamas” for hours! We left feeling very full and like we spent the afternoon with family we didn’t know we had! ❤️❤️❤️. 100 percent would do this again!!!!

This is my third trip to Greece, and I can easily say this was my favorite activity I've ever done here. The cooking is fun and informational, there was an abundance of food to eat and it was all delicious. However, what makes this class so special is the family who teaches it. Connecting with them and hearing their stories was something I will cherish forever. By the time I left, I felt like family myself. They also went out of their way to help me with logistics when I made a mistake with the bus. Just an overall 10/10. Do not miss out on this special evening!

This entire experience was 5 stars from beginning to end. We were picked up at the port and taken to Veerna’s kitchen. She and her staff we so kind and we all felt like family while we were there. We cooked SO MUCH food in 4 hours and it was all DELICIOUS. Even picky eaters like me had lots to eat! The home is situated by a beautiful olive grove and the gardens and seating area are picturesque. You need to do this while in Crete!

This was one of our favorite things we did in Crete! HIGHLY recommend to do this if you are traveling to Crete. The entire family is so nice and welcoming. Alex picked us up from our hotel (they do offer transfer services) and he was a pleasure to get to know. Verna was an absolute gem. She was friendly, welcoming, funny, and she gave great instruction for the class. We loved meeting the other couples in the class and overall this was an amazing experience. A MUST DO for sure. 10/10!!

First class experience offered by a Crete family. I booked this trip for 7 of my friends; none of them are cooks but very much foodies and wine lovers. We absolutely loved our experience; it was professional, personal, and perfect in every way. We participated in every step from chopping vegetables to making phyllo pastry. Veerna, business owner, mom and chef was amazing! It was so organized and clean. They provided transportation for us to and from the port for a minimal cost. One fabulous experience. 20 people max which made it more special.

Great experience, which I highly recommend if you are staying in or visiting Chania. Veerna and her family are great hosts - so hospitable and organized! They do a great job of walking through the steps with the group and providing education, but keeping things interactive and fun. All of the food turned out delicious and was the right amount of work to prepare. My advice would be to eat beforehand so you don’t get too hungry by the time you first eat. Also, aside from the class itself, the property was beautiful and it was fun to interact with other travelers.

It was so much better than advertised! It was 4 hours of learning how to cook in the Cretan style, but even more about family and laughter and pure joy! We were with a great group of strangers to us and had an absolute blast in their home kitchen. We left with full bellies and fell in love with Cretan tradition. They are a truly special family! This was the best cooking class we have ever taken. Veerna and Kosti were fantastic hosts and teachers. If you are going to Crete, you need to experience this. The class is very hands on and Veerna is a wonderful chef and instructor. The class feels like you are just hanging out with old friends cooking and drinking. This is one of the best things we have done in all of the 18 countries we have visited. I highly recommend. Do not miss out on this.
