Fun But Not as Described

This was fun! The vibes were good, but without the other reviews, we would have had a really hard time finding it. It's in the Serafina rooftop bar - which nowhere in the description does it say that. Because we went at a slower time, we had the whole rooftop to ourselves! But the tasting was a bit more laid back than we were expecting. We only got 1 appetizer (which the description says we should've gotten 2) and we explicitly picked the prosecco tasting and what we were given was not prosecco - don't get me wrong, it was still fun and we went with the flow but it wasn't exactly what we paid for. The guy serving us was also really nice and gave us good info on the wines we tasted.

The place was hard to find at first. The map takes you to the side of a public building, but it’s actually a restaurant/bar about 10 meters away. When we got in there (not sure if it’s the right place) the waiter who greeted us was super confused before some other man came over and took us to the rooftop bar. No views of Venice from the rooftop as it’s covered over in the winter. The wine tasting was more like here are 3 glasses of wine and some nibbles. Not a “traditional” tasting session, and not all local wines either. But it was good value for money for 3 large glasses of wine and the local snacks. Just don’t expect a classic wine tasting experience, more a voucher for some drinks and nibbles in a restaurant.

Frauds! Don’t book!

Do not book with this tour or this group!! Frauds! They never showed up to the tour meeting spot. I was there 5 minutes early, as suggested by their virtual robot assistant on Viator and was given two addresses, one right next to the other, and the host was nowhere to be found! Viator would not provide direct contact for the host and couldn’t even reach them! And then they rejected my refund request! Outrageous! I will be reporting this as fraud to my bank as well.

This tasting took place at a very quaint, quiet rooftop bar. However, it was not a guided tasting in any way, and though we requested Prosseco, that wasn't available. We had a good time and stayed for dinner but we didn't learn anything about Prosecco.

The Vendor does not provide what Viator states in description for this tour. My tour description stated “tasting glasses (plural) of different sparkling wines” as well as “two local finger foods”. We received 1 Prosecco tasting and 1 bruschetta finger food. When we showed the vendor our booking reference and description that included multiple wines and multiple foods, he told us that in his system we booked “ 1 Prosecco tasting and 1 finger food”. He didn’t think it was his fault that the descriptions didn’t match. We paid $43 per person for a taste of Prosecco and a little piece of bruschetta. You can easily get this at any bar in Venice for $10-$15 per person or less. Viator needs to fix their description for this experience so that it matches what the bar actually offers. We’ve used Viator many times across many countries, and this was our first bad experience where we did not receive what we paid for.

This experience was the best if our trip to Venice. It was just us two for a full houyin education, tasting and engagement. We bought 12 bottles of Presorro and had them shipped to America. Marco is a wine expert. If you love wine and champagne, this is for you!

Marco, the sommelier who owns the shop, was incredibly knowledgeable about Glera grapes and his Proseccos, all coming from the Valdobbiadene valley near Venice. He told us many stories about his life, his family in Lido, and the celebrity clientele that frequents the shop (George and Amal Clooney, the Rothschilds, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, and Angelina Jolie). Not only did we leave with a thorough education on Prosecco, every wine we tasted was amazing. We even bought a rare bottle to enjoy at home.

Tasting was held right in the wine store with customers coming in ever so often to buy wine or chat. Gave the feeling of being part of the local community! They didn't give too much info on the different Prosecco's unless you asked more about it specifically. Was fun to do once for sure.

Virkelig gode vine, men meget deprimeret betjening. Virker for mig som en lidt ligegyldig ting at skulle fortælle hele sin livshistorie til kunderne, som er der for at få en god oplevelse. Bortset fra det flink gut, som vidste alt om de vine vi fik lov til at smage. Desuden beskriver i vi ville smage 5 vine, men vi fik kun smagt 4 i programmet.
