We got a chance to see where the wine is stored and views of the vineyard, plus the guide was quite informative. Then we got to try many different wines with information about each. It's the only wine tasting tour I've done, so I can't compare but I really enjoyed it!

Alex B, Oct 2016
Let me start off by saying Viator is usually pretty good. This operator was really bad. We were too met at the car park at 9AM we were there along with another couple that was to take the Wine Tasting tour. We called the operator at 9:20 she said he had already been there no way. I called back now they said he was stuck on the bridge and would be along soon. The driver arrived 10 minutes later, no accident on the bridge just plain late. This was to be English speaking tour right in its name the driver spoke almost no English. So it was a quite drive through lovely countryside however he couldnt explain about the ruins we saw. Got to the winery late the sampling was already underway. So we joined in with the others there. I was a very small room and with15 people in it, it was really small. We tried 4 to 5 wines about 1 ounce each and that was it, all in all not a good place. My wife and I are walking back to the SUV and someone says we have to pay, WHAT. We had to pay 10 Euros a piece. Viator didnt include the winery cost in the tour or we plainly got ripped off. Buyer Beware on this tour.

Beautiful vinyard, very knowledgable guide as to the different wines available. Also very helpful with arranging the shipping of purchases!!!

Robert S, May 2016
The tour comprised transportation to/from one winery. We were given a thorough tour of the winery, and we tasted many perhaps 10? different wines. Snacks were provided e.g. salami and cheese for the non-vegetarians, and excellent vegetables for the vegetarians. We bought 6 bottles of wine to ship home.

This was an odd wine tasting tour...

Judith S, May 2016
This was an odd wine tasting tour. We only went to one winery where we basically just stood and drank a lot of wine. There wasn't much discussion about the wines, but they were generous with their pours. Then, some people bought a bunch of wine, which I guess was the expected result of the tour. Our driver was very pleasant though.

The tour was not as advertised...

Joseph B, May 2016
The tour was not as advertised. First, we met our guide at the meeting point and he informed us that his Mercedes van was broken down. We rode in a very tight minivan and there were only six people in our group. The Viator web site says Make your way to Piazzale Roma in central Venice, where youll meet your local guide and hop aboard an air-conditioned Mercedes minivan. Along the way to the town of Treviso, your guide will share interesting facts about Venetos history and wines. Well, sorry to say that our guide said about three sentences on the trip to the winery and back which was TWO hours long. So, out of the four hour trip/tour, two hours were spent in a small minivan where the driver/guide offered nothing about the area we were driving through and Veneto's history and wines. The winery tour itself was good 3-4 stars. The winery guide was very knowledgeable and the tasting was very informative and enjoyable. But when you combine the boring two hour round trip to the winery where the driver/guide offered nothing of value with the winery tour, I have to say that this tour was not a good value.

Wonderful experience!!! well organised - the tour guide very informative and spoke excellent English - well worth the trip and would highly recommend it.

Tour description states only 8...

deb, Oct 2015
Tour description states only 8 persons per tour and we had 15. Not the intimate, small-group atmosphere that was promised. Worse part of the tour was the beginning with the confusing check in plus the guide refused to sit our party of 7 in the same van. They would not put the air conditioning on in the van, despite many requests to do so. They drove like our of control taxi drivers. Same exact thing on the return to Venice. Once we arrived at the winery everything was good. However since there were 15 of us instead of 8, not everyone fit around the tasting area making it uncomfortable. Nice selection of meats and crackers, lots of good wines to taste. We bought wines to ship home. Get a better transportation company who will use air-conditioning it was a very hot day and keep the tour to 8 persons and I would have rated a 5!

emacgregor_9, Sep 2015
I don't think our tour was the same one I read the reviews for. Although our guide was very friendly, she didn't seem to know very much about the wine or the history of the winery. She gave us a short tour of the facility and then showed us some pamphlets of the winery's other companies. It was not an informative tour at all.

Great tour. Very interesting. Tried some delicious wines with cheese, meats and breadsticks. Bought a bottle of wine before we left.

If its wine tasting you're after...

Susan G, May 2015
If its wine tasting you're after then this is it, if however you'd like more insight into the industry then you'll be disappointed. The tour was brief of the shop the cellar and a gallery to read about the vineyard, our guide struggled to answer questions as he had only been with the company a month. The group was small and therefore you could enjoy the conversations that wine always brings, but it was disappointing to have no insight into the processes, the factory, the vines and the area. The wines however were glorious and plenty to taste.

Den, May 2015
Disappointing, not as good as it sounded. It was nice to see a bit of the countryside on route but would have been better if the driver would have given us a little info such as points of interest etc. Didn't actually see the wine production side of things just a room with wine barrels and another with the history of the family that owned the vineyard. The chap that took us around seemed unprepared and jumped from one thing to another, uninteresting. The wine tasting was the best part. Got to taste a number of wines along with cheese and hams, very tasty. No getting away from the fact that the wine was some of the best we've ever tasted so much so that we purchased more than a few and got them delivered home. Try the fizzy red Robosso!!!

This is one of the best wine tastings we have attended. The wines were delicious and very reasonably priced. The facility was clean and decorated in vintage equipment and pictures. Will definitely be purchasing the wine in the US.

Stephanie K, Sep 2014
We were a bit disappointed with the tour overall since we only visited one winery and thought we were going to visit more than just the one but the tour of the winery was very informative and the wine was excellent. We had to ask to try various types of wines but the guides at the winery were very accommodating so if you do this tour don't be shy to ask. We are also very disappointed with the driver to/from the winery, there was no information provided and the driver did not even introduce himself so it made for a long 1 hour drive to and from the winery. This is something which could be improved and would make the tour more enjoyable and more worth the price.

A fantastic day out from Venice...

James A, Aug 2014
A fantastic day out from Venice! Highly recommended!! After reading previous reviews I was concerned about not finding the pick up point at the Plaza Roma, however it is extremely easy to locate - just behind and to the right of the public toilets. You can see the Hotel Olympia from the pick up point. The drive out to the Paladin winery was very comfortable in an air conditioned mini bus. The tour itself was great, our guide showed us around the winery and was very knowledgeable on the process of wine making (although we didn't actually see nay of the wine making process). We then sampled 11 different wines, including prosecco, a liquor, and a sparkling red. We were given varieties of salami and 'drunk' cheese and crackers to have with our wine. The tasting was the highlight of the tour! We bought 2 bottles at a very reasonable price, which we enjoyed back at our hotel in Venice! The only negative comment about the tour would be that we didn't actually get to go out onto the vineyard itself, or see the wine making process. It would have been great if we could have picked some grapes, or had some pictures taken in the vineyard and around the grounds. Also our tour was only for 4 hours, we spent and hour or so travelling each way to the winery, then 2hrs at the winery itself. I would still recommend this tour to anyone who has time to do it whilst in Venice! We thoroughly enjoyed it!

My husband and I booked this tour...

Cynthia B, May 2014
My husband and I booked this tour because we were staying in Venice for four days and thought it would be nice to get out of the city for part of a day. Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed. It's not that we necessarily had a bad time on this tour; rather, based upon the tour's description, I guess we were expecting a little more for our money. Here's how the tour is described (in part) on the website: •Half-day Veneto wine tasting small-group day trip •Visit a historical cantina (wine cellar) and its vineyards •Visit a local family-run vineyard •Enjoy a wine tasting and homemade appetizers The second and third bullets above make it sound like we would visit more than one winery, but we didn't. We drove one hour out of Venice, spent two hours at one winery, and returned to Venice (there's your "half-day" tour). The wines we tasted were very good, but I'm not sure they were good enough to justify the $110 per person cost of this tour. Also, the tour description says that we would receive "homemade appetizers". In our tour group of six people, we shared a plate of cheese, a plate of meats and some crackers. The snacks were good, but calling them "homemade appetizers" was a bit of a stretch. Our tour guide/driver was very nice, as was the guide at the winery. We also enjoyed the small size of the tour group; in fact, the four other people in our group were really nice and we enjoyed getting to know them a bit during the tour. However, if I had it to do over, I would skip this tour and just spend an afternoon wandering around Venice, stopping at a few wine bars and doing my own "wine crawl" through that beautiful city.

Mary Alice S, May 2014
I enjoyed the Veneto Small-Group Wine Tasting Tour. Our driver told us about the beautiful country sides we drove through to get to the vineyard. The guide, at the vineyard, was very knowledgeable on the process of the vineyard's wine process. Our group (four people) tasted seven types of wine and had cheese, meat and crackers to go along with the tasting. I would recommend this tour.

We enjoyed the experience very much...

William T, Aug 2013
We enjoyed the experience very much. The winery tour was great. The tastings were quite good; especially the prosecco. We actually purchased and had some shipped home. It was a nice time shared with another couple.

The Paladin Winery was tremendous...

Beth S, Jul 2013
The Paladin Winery was tremendous! Very informative tour, friendly staff and excellent tastings. I did have 2 issues with this trip. The first was finding the transportation near the Plaza Roma. We searched and searched yet couldn't find the area described on our voucher. After three telephone calls we finally found our driver who told us that they had been trying for a year to get the pick up location description updated since the old location no longer exists. Secondly although there were only four of us on the trip I understood that we would have an "english speaking tour", we DID however the other two people on our tour spoke French only, which meant that the tour guide explained is two different times and I feel that we may have lost some interesting points due to the dual language issue. Overall the winery, driver and tour guide were amazing.

Disappointed because we were expecting to be shown the process of wine making - all we were shown was some barrels, bottles and vineyard. The wine tasting was good though.

Timothy_R, Jun 2013
This was a great tour. There was myself and 2 others. We drove 1 hour out of Venice and spent about 2 hours at the one winery. We were shown through the winery, however, not the actual making process. Then we had tastings of several wines and a excellent assortment of meats, cheeses and bread while tasting. Recommend as it was relaxing and not too long. Tim R

We enjoyed the lovely Paladin...

Gail T, Jul 2012
We enjoyed the lovely Paladin Winery/vineyard. Our driver was excellent and was able to tell us a bit about the area. The Paladin representative showed us through the winery from making the wines, to aging them. Our wine tasting was a highlight of the tour with grissini, cheese and thinly slice sausage to cleanse the palate

The trip was great! On time...

Donald W, Jun 2012
The trip was great! On time, courteous and a very knowledgeable guide. Clean vehicle and safe driving. The winery itself was wonderfully maintained and culturally unique and the wine tasting presentation was personalized. I would highly recommend this tour.

Winery tour and tasting was nice...

Galen Larson, Apr 2012
Winery tour and tasting was nice. The trip allowed for one winery and each of the wines produced by the winery was tasted. It would have been nice to visit a couple of winerys to get additional perspective on the regions wine, but this was a nice lo-key affair.

This was one of the best bits of our holiday. We turned up to Pizzale a Roma to find it was just me and my husband doing the tour, fab! Our driver was a lovely man who ended up taking us on the tour of the vineyard and bringing us the wine to taste. It was really informative and we ended up getting a bit squiffy! We got given some salami and 'drunk' cheese (which was amazing) to have with our wine. We ended up buying 4 bottles of wine to bring home. An excellent day, you must do it.

A really good day out from Venice...

L J H, Oct 2011
A really good day out from Venice. The vineyard was beautiful, the wines were wonderful and our guide was very enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. As it was such a small group, we had one-to-one attention and plenty of time to ask questions. The only problem we had was finding the pick up point to start with as the directions were not clear. If it had just said 'Behind the taxi rank' we would have found it immediately, but 'left side of the square' wasn't too easy. Apart from that - fantastic day! Thank you!

The winery we visited, Ornella Molon...

Edie K, Sep 2011
The winery we visited, Ornella Molon is a beautiful estate and we tasted some excellent wine. The wines were very resonably priced, as were other items. Excellent experience! Our tour guide, Enrico, was very nice. It would have been helpful if he were more knowedgeable about the wines.
