JJ our driver and guide was awesome! We really appreciated his flexibility to meet us after we checked out of our hotel at Lake Chuzenji Nikko (instead of Tokyo). It was very easy communicating with the tour company and JJ later on WhatsApp to personalize our tour of Nikko. He also recommended a delicious ramen restaurant for lunch. During the hot summers, Nikko and especially Lake Chuzenji is a good 10-20 degrees cooler. We saw spectacular waterfalls and one of our favorite shrines in Japan, Nikko Toshogu Shrine, famous for its cedar forest and "three wise monkeys" wooden carving. Overall, we had a wonderful day touring Nikko and a relaxing drive back to Tokyo where JJ dropped us off at our hotel.

Ahsan was difficult to communicate with. I cannot recommend him as a tour guide. While in Nikko, he did give us some information before we entered the shrine, but left us alone on the tour. I would say he is a driver, but not much of a tour guide. When I asked him questions, he cut me off and said, “Excuse me, ma'am, but we are here to look at this.” When I tried to discuss plans for the last hour, he literally said I’m tired, so please make your decision. We were asking for his input, and that’s the answer we got: him saying,” I’m tired.”
Both my sister-in-law and I felt that he was dismissive of women and listened to the men in our group.
