The touk guide said return is not included. He would take ilusión there for $20 euros and return for 10 euros. The entrance to palace is 20 euros each. Aviator is charging double the fee. There is no guide to palace. Touk Touk is in in poor condition, I would not use them for this travel to Sintra Palace . I feel the trip is expensive and you only get a ride up that is it.

Disappointing and not a great start to our day

Our group had really been looking forward to this excursion and it was a special day for my husband’s 50th birthday. As directed we showed up to the meeting point 90 min prior to our tour departure of 1030 am. By 1035 we became concerned that our tuk tuk driver had not arrived and no message had been sent. We had a few tuk tuk drivers in the area approach us during this time to see if they could assist us since given we had been waiting for so long. We finally decided to call the company and were told that they didn’t have a reservation for us. After a few minutes of conversation they then said that the tuk tuk driver that was supposed to pick us up had a mechanical issue. By this time it was around 11 am and the tour operator said he had found another driver but would not be able to pick us up for another 25 min. He also wanted to confirm that we were only two in the group but our booking clearly said 4 adults. He then directed us to another tuk tuk driver across the street and made a deal to send them funds to take us up to the castle entrance. At this point we thought the matter had been resolved and we were on our way but unfortunately we encountered a few more issues. As we spoke to the tour operator we asked for confirmation of our tickets for palace entry but he told us we would have to queue or pay extra to skip the line for something we had already paid for. The conversation went back and forth with us confirming that we specifically bought this more expensive tour to skip the line for entry. Another 30 minutes passed before the tour operator finally messaged us the tickets for a fast track entry to the palace. While we ended up enjoying our day after all this turmoil I am very disappointed by the treatment from this company. The fact that we needed to waste so much time and effort for a tour that we had booked and paid for one month prior is not great business practice.

Scammed - Don't Use This Group!

Spare yourself the trouble and do not use this group. I got on Viator to book Pena Palace tickets and saw they had one time slot at 4:00pm left. It said, Tuk-Tuk ride to Palace and use our "skip the line" special access tickets to view the palace. They KNEW the palace tickets were sold out and took our money anyway. They told us they were going to check and see if they could swing some things and then told us they were able to get us in and that the 4 tickets were secured. We got picked up and I asked, "Did you get the tickets?" and the driver exclaimed excitingly, "Yes, I have the tickets!". We were overjoyed and overlooked the terribly loud and uncomfortable, and kinda dangerous Tuk-Tuk that picked us up. I mean, this thing was loud and smelly. The engine died several times on the way up too. Anyway, we were blasting by all of these picturesque scenes and the driver would slow slightly and attempt to scream some history over the loud engine while he hurried through each one. We didn't mind because, hey, we got the tickets and it was the last round of folks before the palace closed so we thought he may be in a hurry. We get up to the gates and the driver gets in line. Like in line with us to purchase tickets. I'm thinking this must be a will call situation where you pick them up but no, he tells us, "Oh, they're sold out." I was like, "What? You said you had the tickets?" He lied. He did not. He tried then to get us to take the garden only tickets that cost less and we already prepaid for palace tickets. He then says, "Let me call my boss". He calls and says, no worries...you'll get a full refund because he could see how mad I was being lied to. We get down the mountain and he tries to pay me 60 euros! I paid $232 euros and where's the full refund? I was PISSED!! These guys try and skate by and lie and manipulate tourists. Spare yourself and talk to a LOCAL PORTUGESE person who is standing by their Tuk-Tuk and pay them. The money stays in the country and these people are proud of their country and want to educate you. Don't make the same mistake I did. It was terrible.

Sintra is a beautiful palace, in a magical setting. I know it gets very crowded, so we arrived at 10:15 am just about 30 mins after it opens. We paid $96 euros $100 US for a ride up the hill to get there in a rickety tuk tuk. You want to come down? It’s another $5 Euros per person. There’s no skip the line, you still have to get in line to enter. BTY, the bus is $3 euros, right outside the train station. SAVE YOUR $$$ The guy: PLABON who started to communicate late the night before, sent 45 texts!!! At 1:30 am he was still sending messages, which leads me to believe he’s in another country and unaware of time in Portugal .Or just rude. This is not normal business practice. His English was very broken. I speak 3 languages, but still Very hard to understand. He DID NOT SEND THE TICKETS UNTIL THE LASt MINUTE. Why? The young man who picked us up was nice, William but told us he did not work for him. The best thing was the restaurant William recommended: Dona Maria. Amazing views and great food. It’s. SHAME THAT TRIPADVISOR uses people like this to provide a “tour”. I never leave reviews, but honestly, this was the worst ever.

Hello I am sorry what you feel but the things your saying is not true first the bus cost is not 3€ its 11.90€ And yes we already told you that if you go inside we wont no how long time you will spend inside the pena palace and park so it not possible to let the tuk tuk wait outside its illegal , we already explained you and we agreed that if you need to come down you have to pay and we just send the confirmation message and later you replied so we have to carry on the chat but we are sorry hope fully we cant made you happy sorry Best Regards

Don't waste your money

We booked this adventure because the reviews all said it was a great way to get the lay of the land in Sintra. Our experience was the opposite. First, someone called me at 1am after I booked! I didn't pick up but then they texted, telling us that what we booked didn't include tickets to the Pena Palace OR tickets back to the train station. After a few rounds of texts he realized he was wrong, that it did include tickets but we had to pay an extra 5EU each to get a ride back to the train. So, they take you there but not back down the hills? Lame. And, why call someone at 1AM? Who does that? Couldn't they have just sent a text or email? Then, the tuk tuk was so loud we couldn't hear a word the driver told us. To top it off, the "skip the line" only means they bought the ticket online for us, we weren't able to skip the line to get into the palace so we waited well over an hour in the pouring rain. We could have purchased the tickets online as well, so what were we paying for? Don't waste your money on this, just hail a cab or plan to do some hiking. We book with Viator all the time and the tours are great, this one was a total rip off!

About timing our customercare team dont know as its from different different country they response but still we are sorry in past sometimes people told us no problem night and morning you have to call us and inform us and we dont get email and tuk tuk its raining if he dont rise up horse power he wont be able to drive it would be a problem and tickets do help to skip the line or else other would complain as well but still we are sorry and its all about rain and we still try to call you for that but you were not agree with anything we say so we purchased the tickets but still we are sorry and waiting for the palace its normal in covid time when your inside already you skip the line and you went in so its not in anyone hand if you wait for 3hrs to finish inside others have to wait to get in dont you think should they maintain that in Covid or else people would complain too much people dont maintain covid rules so that would put another bad impact but still we are sorry we cant make you happy if you want we will give you another free service at least to get a good gesture if you want please send us a message Thank you
