A Walk to Remember

Jenn_R, Jan 2026
From Hot Cookies to Hunky Jesus we took a journey through time while exploring the Golden City. Clyde is the cherry to our hot fudge sundae and we want seconds. Thank you Clyde for such a fun afternoon - highly recommended!

Even though I have lived...

Elaine_B, Dec 2025
Even though I have lived in the Bay Area for over 30 years, Clyde showed us places I’ve never been to, and stories I had never heard. Just the right amount of walking, and humor, and music!

It was so cool to experience San Francisco through Clyde’s tour. Learned so much about the history and culture of the area. Clyde is a man of many talents. He is an awesome storyteller. Highly recommend for history and art lovers!!

Exceptional Story Teller

Cool experience with a great story teller! Pace was amazing and lots of photo ops along the way! Information was very cool!!

A must to experience

jannetik83, Jul 2025
This event was one of my all-time favorite experiences in the Bay Area. Clyde has a passion for performance and history. He combines the two in a tour through a beautiful section of the city that's rich in culture and history. He is a true storyteller! Clyde’s knowledge of San Francisco and the state of California will far exceed your expectations. His creativity and silliness makes his stories fun and engaging. Suitable for all ages. Whether you're visiting San Francisco for the first time or born and raised you will find an appreciation for this event.

Relaxed, fun tour through three distinct neighborhoods. Fun facts/stories. You get to sort fact from fiction!

San Francisco delight

Katherinemarie_M, Feb 2025
Clyde was the best tour guide with whom I have ever traveled. He and his ukulele told stories about the history of San Francisco in such a clever and entertaining manner that the time flew. He spoke about famous people whom he had drawn in pen and ink to help us visualize them. We stopped by houses and spots that only a local could possibly know the significance, such as the “house that time forgot” or a labyrinth one block from where my daughter lived, and we never knew about it!! A wonderful way to spend an afternoon (or morning) in the city. He will even save you from being thrown out of town by telling you which names of the city will do just that. Thank you, Clyde and Kali.

The 3 of us

Clyde was so friendly and knowledgeable. He was the best tour guide, how a stories were so entertaining.

Truly unique and lots of fun!

Maria_N, Sep 2024
Part history, part tall tales and baloney, but always entertaining and lots of fun!! Clyde's unique walking tour around the Mission, Castro and Duboce neighbourhoods served up Spanish-style churches, city views, painted ladies, uninhibited gentlemen, murals and much, much more. Take this tour - it's a memorable experience with a truly unique guide!!

An unusual, very fun tour

Ellie_T, Sep 2024
Very engaging guide, a beautiful part of town, and some very fun tales about the history and characters that make SF unique

Fun and informative!

Fun and informative! We had lovely weather and beautiful sights to see. The stories were good and the added visual aids by Mr Always were amusing.

Clyde the Guide: Fun, Thoughtful, and Brilliant

Geri_E, Aug 2024
Both my partner and I know pockets of San Francisco over our decades of experience visiting friends and family. Regardless, we learned new things, hit places we've never seen, and Clyde delivered it in the most entertaining way. To start, sadly for Clyde, we got a 'couple's only tour," as no one else signed up - and others missed out on a fun time. We started at Verve Coffee Roasters at Church and Market, and Clyde asked if we knew this was a walking tour - to which we nodded as it's in the TITLE of all things (some don't read that...), explained what we were about to experience was indeed a true, fantastical, and fun account of time in the city. I'll not steal any of his thunder, as he is an amazing storyteller, a brilliant historian, and great graphic artist - all combined into one. The best part of the trip though is that it's interactive -and as a participant, you get to be a part of the tale. You'll be enraptured within seconds, and Clyde will traverse the gentlest of hills (for those used to flat ground - it's still steep at times, but in San Francisco, trust me, he's selected the easiest of streets to reach the destinations and points of interest). There are several stops, and the pace is based on you - he'll go faster if you want, and slow down when you need. When you reach points of interest, there's trivia, and opportunity to play along. He's the most gracious of hosts, as when he'd hit us with a zinger, I would high-joke him a few times, get a look of "really?" and then he'd just laugh. I can only think we got away with this as often as we did because there were only two of us, but then again, it's also in Clyde's excellent nature. Each place he will take you is a slice of life in the city, all with rich history, some amazing without the tales, others sad and just insightful. Nonetheless, even in the low notes, Clyde will pick your spirits up immediately with a fun tale great for young and old. Take the tour; you'll recognize it's some of the best two hours you've spent in the city.

Lots of laughs

Cherie_G, Jul 2024
A fun walk around the Mission and Castro. Lots of laughs, great group of locals and visitors. Really enjoyed the tour.

Surreal! 😉

Super fun and unique

It was a very fun tour and I had a great time! It was super interesting to find out more about Mission and Castro districts as well as to hear loads of fun stories performed by Clyde. What a great way to explore the city!

Excellent Mix of History and Myth

Mary_G, May 2024
Want to wander the streets of San Francisco hearing tales and legends of San Francisco? If so, this is a tour for you! Clyde brings to life some of the history of San Francisco and peppers in songs and images to add wonderful levity to the tales. Definitely an excellent diversion to add to your trip!

Don't miss this unique tour!

Crystal_C, May 2024
ClydeAlways was a remarkable host and guide! It's rare to meet someone so talented! He told tall tales, sang, recited poetry, and showed off his custom drawings to provide a visual for his stories! I travel a ton and do many tours. This was probably the most unique I've encountered and I had a blast the whole two hours! He also managed to cram in some history, a great stroll through three of the most iconic areas of San Francisco, and provide some wonderful food and fun recommendations. I can't recommend this tour enough. If I could award him 6 stars, I would happily do so!

Great experience

We had the best time!! Very entertaining! We saw a lot of the city that we wouldn't normally wander and he kept us laughing the whole time!

Would recommend!

Syed_Q, Dec 2023
Our tour with Clyde was less like a tour, and more a hangout with an old friend who lives in the city. His brand of story telling mixed fact and San Francisco lore, leaving us to figure out which was which. We very much enjoyed learning the history of the city's historical neighborhoods, hearing stories of San Franciscos most eccentric characters, and the random interactive trivia games. There aren't enough stars to rate how great of an experience Clyde's tour is!

Don't leave SF without going on this tour!!

Andie_J, Dec 2023
Clyde was about the best tour guide you could ever wish for. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny day to walk around town and listen to his tales (some of them tall 😁) of the city. He plays to his audience and flexes accordingly. Myself and my teenage son had the best couple of hours with him.....it all came to an end too soon. We could have spent another two hours with him. I can't recommend this tour enough.

Day One in SF

Sara_M, Dec 2023
Great experience to do when you first arrive to SF as Clyde has a ton of knowledge and recommendations for the city! Such a fun time walking around the city with Mr. Always!

Take a Walk with a Local Bard

David_M, Dec 2023
There are tour guides and then there is Clyde Always. A master raconteur, he weaves into the tour wonderfully entertaining tall tales (in meter!) about the real and imagined characters that have made San Francisco what it is. A few hours with Clyde does not simply inform about the history and significance of famous neighborhoods in The City. It invites you to partake in the creative spirit that has drawn artists and avant-gardes to San Francisco for generations. Take a walk with a local bard. It will be a highlight of your stay.

Great experience with a wonderful guide!

Bella_B, Dec 2023
Clyde is a knowledgeable, creative, and lovely guide. The tour included stories and facts about San Francisco's history and culture, with some delightful poems and tall tales sprinkled throughout. We did this tour as a team outing and we all had a great time. It was the perfect distance, Clyde was at the meeting point early, and his guiding style is highly interactive (not just lecturing). Thank you Clyde!
