VERY IMPORTANT PICK UP & DROP OFF INFORMATION : We offer pick up and drop off within the city of Reykjavik. We can pick-up directly from some hotels as well as from the Reykjavik cruise ship terminals but parts of the Reykjavik city center are restricted for bus driving. This means that tour companies can only stop at certain designated BUS STOP locations in the center of Reykjavík to pick up the guests from hotels or other accommodations located within this area. If your accommodation does not have direct pick-up due to being located within the restricted area, then you can use the map here down below for the walking route from your accommodation to the nearest bus stop. Please note that we offer pick up only from Reykjavík city center. If you are staying outside of the city than we can pick you up from BSÍ Bus Terminal.

This was one of the best nights of our lives! Heimir was the best guide. He cancelled the trip we had initially scheduled because he knew the lights weren’t going to be as strong, so he rescheduled our excursion for later in the week for free. When we did get to go out, his excitement and passion were evident the entire night. He took the time to explain everything to us. He was able to make science cool! And he did everything possible to make sure that we not only had the best view of the northern lights, but that we also had the greatest experience. The photos he took of us are astounding and he helped instruct each of us on how to set up our cameras to take the best pictures as well. He also provided snowsuits, chairs, hot chocolate and snacks that let us stay out in the cold so we could appreciate the lights longer and not be on the bus the whole time. My wife and I had the most incredible time and we highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see the best display of the northern lights!

The guide was very helpful and did his best to make sure that we had a good experience. We REALLY appreciated the snowsuits because it was terribly cold. We did get to see the lights and the guide shared his photos from the night with us so we knew we would get good photos. The trip is worth it but be prepared - the lights are wonderful but if you expect lots of colors that take over the whole sky then you will likely be disappointed. We appreciated the hot chocolate and snacks.

We didn’t see the lights on our first trip out so we got to come again. Both times our guide was amazing! Helped people learn about their cameras. Had chairs, snow suits, and refreshments. Even let me borrow a tripod since I could bring one in my luggage due to size. Highly recommend!

This experience was amazing, we received communication the day we arrived saying that the northern lights were going to have better possibilities on the day before our scheduled day and so we were given the opportunity to switch our days which we did. The overall experience was great, having the snow suits were a must being out in the cold environment for so many hours. Our guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. Thank you for a great start of our vacation.

First, I will say that it is very difficult to communicate with Heimer through viatour messaging. They don’t come through for him and he is trying to get viatour to fix it. I was a bit frustrated when he would not respond and then I got a message explaining the situation. He gave me alternative methods of communicating with him and I appreciate that. However, this tour was amazing and he did a great job explaining the lights. He has such a detailed way of determining the weather and best location for viewing. He sets the best environment for viewing for hours. He has a nice spread of snacks and drinks to share with guests. This is the only tour I could find with snowsuits and I have no idea how you could do it without one (esp in December). We did not see a tremendous display but we did see some and we came away with a better understanding of the lights.

We had an amazing time. We saw great Northern Lights. Our guide was so excited and his enthusiasm was contagious and added to our enjoyment. A definite bucket list item for us! We got such great photos. Snacks and snow suits were awesome as well as it was cold. Even with out the Northern Lights, we would have enjoyed the night. So many stars were visible in the sky and the company was great.

This tour was the best thing I done while in Iceland. Heimir Was outstanding from the get go. He was in communication with me in relation to the tour and even moved us to the following day as our original day was very cloudy and we may not of seen the lights. His enthusiasm for his job was outstanding and he was as excited as we were to finally see the lights. He kept us all informed throughout and explained how the lights become visible. We had to wait until after midnight to see them but because of Heimir explanation it made so much sense and I came away with a better understanding of aurora. As I said we were waiting a while but Heimir kept our spirits up the whole time so we didn’t lose hope. When the lights finally became visible it was breathtaking to say the least and I’m so grateful I got to experience this bucket list moment! It was so clear that night I even seen a shooting star! Having the snow suits was a major plus as it was extremely cold when we went out ( my phone said it was -10 in the location) so they kept us warm. We had hot chocolate and some Icelandic snacks too. Being able to sit on the camping chairs provided and just looking up at the sky was breathtaking too as there were so many stars. If I could give this review 10 stars I would. It was honestly the best part of my trip to Iceland and it was all down to Heimir and his knowledge and genuine love for his job.

Amazing night

Wasn't sure we would get to see the northern lights due weather conditions. We had a few nights in Reykjavik and the tour worked with us to take us on the next good night for veiwing if we were still available. And what a fabulous night it was. The northern lights were spectacular. Heimir, our guide, found the perfect spot to see them. I took so many photos. Heimir took photos of each of us with the northern lights and sent them to remind us of this spectacular event. He had hot chocolate, tea and snacks for us to enjoy. The experience was amazing.

BEST Iceland Aurora guide!

Heimir was transparent in communications, responsive and on time for pick up. So incredibly knowledgeable about the aurora borealis and was more educator than tour guide- although he was a fantastic host with hot chocolate and snacks. So dedicated to having our group see the lights on what appeared to be a low chance night for viewing. It was a long night and we are grateful that he stuck it out with our group instead of calling it a night at the estimated “end time.” Thank you so much!!!

Where should I begin??? EVERYTHING was perfect - the weather as the skies were clear; the small group tour vs the large group buses; our knowledgeable guide; serene desolate location where Lady Aurora danced for us; the copious amounts of snacks; and the beautiful photos we received post adventure! I would highly recommend this Tour! Our Tour guide was so nice and friendly and so knowledgeable about the northern lights..and thankfully we were lucky enough on our night to see them and they were spectacular we got our photo taken with them and he had sent them to us in no time aswell.. also the hot chocolate was roasting and delicious as were the pastries,chocolates and dried fish,an easy 5 stars for this one I'd give more if possible!

False marketing

This whole Northern Light tour has a lot of false marketing. Viator should step in to ensure no false marketing. This Northern Lights tour cost a lot more than others but I proceed to go with them because of their claim of award winning, and comes with chairs to sit, snow ski suit, hot drinks, professional photo, etc. Well, only hot drinks and photo are available, no ski suit and no chairs.

This is the one you need to book!!

Not just another northern lights tour

This is a small, family owned business. Heimir’s passion for showing guests this natural phenomenon is what makes this tour special. Heimir was a fantastic tour guide. He is a northern lights expert and truly wants everyone to have a great experience. He is constantly watching the forecast to make sure we have the best chance of seeing the lights. Heimir will not waste anyone’s time, he will only take you out if he truly believes you will be able to see the lights. The tour was originally cancelled a few days in a row due to weather. As soon as the weather cleared up, it was go time. He took as many pictures for us as he could. He was constantly helping everyone adjust their cameras, answering questions and pointing out where the aurora was most active at the time. The hot chocolate and snacks were a great bonus. All round, I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see the northern lights.

We’ve been hunting for northern lights for two nights! It was for the first time when I saw them and they were amazing! I was leaving on Friday and I just wanted to try seeing them again! Heimir picked us on time and took us to the right place in the country side! He was not only an excellent expert on this matter but also passionate and incredible devoted to our group making sure we got the best conditions possible to see the lights! That night Mother Nature was with us and we’ve experienced the most intense amazing unforgettable northern lights ever! Will treasure this moment forever! Ok Northern Lights light up the night!

Absolutely amazing! Etheral. Heimer knew right where to take us. The Northern lights started showing as soon as we parked. They increased and were quite vibrant. Then they faded. My best photos were taken between 930 and 10PM. My phone pictures, barely do it justice compared to the professional camera Heimer had. Just stunning. Highly recommend.. 5 stars. Great guide!

If you are serious about seeing the northern lights, this is the tour you want. It’s a small group and our guide sourced a great location away from other groups and light pollution. He was extremely knowledgeable and I learned a lot about tracking aurora. Additionally, he could be a professional photographer, he took amazing pictures of everyone in the group in front of the aurora with a high quality camera and the pictures are included with the tour.

March 24 was an excelent night for auroras: solar storm and clear skys. The guide looked for the best place. The suits, the chairs and the snacks made the difference. Highly recomendable. A good camera is necesary to see bright green and purple that the eye cannot perceive.

Heimir was an amazing guide who went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a special trip. The conditions were great and I got to see the northern lights on my first night in Iceland, an experience I’ll never forget. He set up chairs, had iPhone stands, snacks and hot chocolate for us to enjoy as well. You could freely take breaks to warm up in the van. It was 11/10 experience I would definitely go again. Don’t book with one vehicle operators

We booked this for the first night of our stay as we wanted to give ourselves the best opportunity to see the northern lights - which was just as well. The tour was cancelled due to poor weather reducing the opportunity to see the northern lights so we were given the opportunity to rebook for another night. The rebooked tour was then cancelled the following night due to mechanical issues with their only vehicle and a refund was given without the option to rebook. As this tour had included a camera tripod I hadn’t brought my own for the long exposure photography so obviously I didn’t have one when we had to book an alternate tour with another operator. Following this experience I have three tips: 1 - book your northern lights tour early in your trip to allow for rebooking (if required). 2 - be a “boy scout” and always come prepared with your own equipment. 3 - don’t book tours with one vehicle operators

Fantastic trip, very knowledgeable, cheerful and engaging guide. Hot drinks and snacks a bonus. One tip: it was freezing, even wearing jumpsuit which was provided, wear as many cothes as you can!
