Great fun! My friend is allergic to dairy so we did the vegan option which was nice they offered. It was great fun to see the rest of the class making the regular recipe. All of our pastries tasted excellent. Rui & Ana were great instructors. I also loved the handouts either the recipe to take home and the history of how the pastel de nata became famous. Well done.
Really enjoyed this experience, I attended solo and was the only person doing the vegan natas, but the teachers were very friendly and made me feel included. The process was really good to see and of course the natas were delicious! Well stocked drinks as well which was very appreciated and all round wonderful experience.
I have never really been a “tour person.” I always thought tours would feel too touristy, rushed, or impersonal. Mar completely changed my mind.
She was absolutely amazing—warm, engaging, knowledgeable, and authentic. You could tell she truly loves what she does, and that authenticity made such a difference. Instead of making us feel like tourists being shuffled from place to place, she made us feel completely at home, almost like we were spending the day with a local friend who happened to know all the best places, stories, and little details.
There were only six of us on the tour—my wife and me, along with a lovely family from Canada—so it really felt more like a private VIP experience than a traditional tour.
Mar made everything personal, relaxed, and genuine, while still giving us so much history and insight. I honestly came away thinking there is no better way to see Sintra and the palace. Trying to do it all on our own would never have been the same experience.
I went into the day thinking tours probably weren’t for me. I came away completely converted. If every tour guide were like Mar, I would happily take tours everywhere we travel.
Thank you, Mar, for making the day so memorable and for making us feel less like tourists and more like guests of a local friend. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip.
Our instructor was the best (I believe Luis but we were a few minutes late so missed his name)! It was a lot of fun and the Pastels were delicious. Hard to find a vegan class so definitely recommend this if you want to do a vegan one.
We made vegan nata alongside a group making the non-vegan traditional version. The teacher (Rui) was so helpful and educational about both versions. Rui is the best. Can’t wait to make these for friends when we get home.
Rui and Ana were great hosts. We had a lot of fun and made some delicious Pastel de Nata. Both were very attentive and we learned a lot.
Best cooking class ever!!! We had SO much fun! My friend and I made the vegan pastel de nata, and one other group also did the vegan one, and they said their pastel tasted better than the BEST pastel they’ve had in Portugal so far. It was so delicious, so fun, and the instructors were the best!!! 1000% recommend to do in Porto
What a fun cooking class! Rui was a great instructor and gave us lots of help. The pastel de nata we made were super delicious!!!! We were the only two doing the vegan version, so we got lots of special attention. Even though most people weren’t doing the vegan class, I thought the recipe was very well thought out, and it turned out delicious! We also had some delicious port wine and crackers to tide us over until the food was done cooking. I would highly recommend this class!
The baker Theresa was absolutely delightful. She was funny and explained everything to us in simple and basic terms. She accommodated a big party and let everyone have a turn in cooking. The pastel de Nata’s turned out delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. A+++
We had a fantastic time at this class. The pasteis de nata were delicious, better than the one we had at the market earlier in the week. Our instructors were great and took extra care to accommodate and include my gluten free, dairy free 10 year old daughter—she loved the experience! Everyone at the class had a chance to participate and we learned not only how to make these treats, but all about their history as well!
A wonderful and tasty experience 😋 Thanks for the vegan version of the Pastel the Nata. Very tasty 😋 The staff is funny, knowledge and very helpful!
The workshop was fun, very friendly instructors and were of the best vegan natas I have ever tasted! The recipe was easier than expected (easier than the traditional recipe) and nothing is left behind. Thank you!
