Itinerary

Following convenient pickup at your hotel in Porto, climb into a comfortable tour vehicle with your small group and set off for Peneda-Geres National Park.

Once you reach the park, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, explore the park's numerous attractions with the leadership of your guide. Visit the swimming pond, waterfalls such as Fecha de Barjas or Arado, and the park's numerous hiking trails. You'll also see some of the park's prehistoric remains and some of its resident wildlife. The length and difficulty of the day's hikes are tailored to the group's skill level and interest level.

Midday, = stop for a traditional Portuguese lunch featuring locally-grown, organic ingredients at a local restaurant and taste the are'as famous green wine.

Your full-day tour ends with drop-off back at your hotel.

Our day trip with Miguel was absolutely fantastic! He’s incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about his city. He brought Porto’s history to life with great story telling, showed us both iconic sights and recommended hidden local gems like Conga, which was the best Bifana my Wife and I has ever had. We were very fortunate to have Miguel all to ourselves, which made the experience relaxed and personal! Cheers to an amazing tour I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a great day trip!

An Unforgettable Tour

We had a wonderful time exploring parts of Peneda-Gerês National Park. The park is an under advertised national treasure that is not described in many tour books. After our one day tour we are grateful to have spent time far from the madding tourist crowds of Porto and Lisbon. The park is tranquil, spectacular, and, literally a breath of fresh air. We visited a lakeside beach, waterfalls, mountain top vistas and small villages. Our excellent tour guide, Miguel, was personable and erudite in all things Portugal, from geography, industry, economics, history, politics, and the daily lives of residents in the park. He skillfully accommodated one of us with some mobility limitations making every effort to share the rugged experience safely. Our tour ended with lunch in a charming, family-operated restaurant in a small village. We were told that the food was traditional Portuguese and it was delicious. During our drive back to Porto Miguel offered to drop us off at Crystal Palace Gardens (an enjoyable way to end the day) a point that differed from where we were picked up. We certainly recommend this tour and guide to anyone who wishes to have a broader appreciation of Portugal.

My significant other and I absolutely loved this guided tour of Braga and Geres! We were so lucky and grateful to get a private tour on the day we booked. Our tour guide, Joao, was the perfect area expert to take us on this tour, and his partner Miguel was so much fun to be around. We had a full day of history, stunning mountain views, adventurous hikes with waterfall views, a classy authentic Portuguese lunch, and many laughs. A highlight of our lunch was tasting the Vinho Verde and beef local to Geres among great company. I highly recommend this tour if you want to experience something tailored especially for you. João and Miguel do their best to make sure you have a fantastic experience and deeper appreciation of the area!

Joao was a great guide. Friendly, accommodating, and a wealth of knowledge about the region we were exploring. Braga and the National park were fabulous. Joao went out of his way to make sure my 70+ year old mom was safe on the trails which was appreciated. He made the day about us when the rest of the party canceled, it was intended to be a small group but ended up being a private tour which was outstanding.

I had the pleasure of visiting Geres, which is a beautiful part of Portugal, with an excellent tour guide. Joao had expert knowledge and knew all the best places to visit. He was also friendly and spoke excellent English. The tour took us to several stunning locations and included a delightful lunch at a restaurant, where I had some of the nicest beef! The walking is not too intense and the minivan journey, both too and from the park, allowed us to see more of the country. Pickup from outside of flat was useful and the day was a perfect trip to compliment a visit to Porto, highly recommended.
