This was the best farm tour cooking class I have experienced in Europe. Our host was so kind and gracious and accommodating. We learned so much about the history of the land as well as about the farm animals and crops. We started with an amazing breakfast spread of farm-made sausages, cheeses, breads, olives, honey and jams. Then we learned to make a traditional onion tomato poached egg soup, a cod potato entree, and a lemon cinnamon custard with a port caramel sauce. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped with gorgeous views of the surrounding hills and farm. This is an absolute MUST do in Douro Valley.

Fabulous experience. Fabio is amazing - he runs the whole farm with its greenhouse vegetables, animals, orchard and a vineyard. And he’s the chef for the cooking class which was fun with very traditional dishes. His stories of the farm including fire, loss and rebuilding are absolutely incredible.

This was absolutely a highlight of our 10 days in Portugal. We learned about the region's culture, history, and food! Fabio was so warm and welcoming - we felt instantly like old friends. Recommend blocking a whole day - Fabio fed us throughout the day, we didn't have enough time to eat it all and we could have stayed to chat for hours more.
Fabio helped us to coordinate trains to and from Porto and a taxi to pick us up at the train station and drop off us at the train station. It was easy and relaxing.
We came home and immediately started recreating the dishes we learned. YUM!
We feel so good to be supporting a family owned and operated farm.
We are so grateful for the incredible day we had together and will remember it always! We hope to stay in touch and will definitely refer our friends and family.

Our visit to Fabio’s farm in the Douro Valley was unforgettable. After losing much of his land to a fire and his father, who built the farm, Fabio rebuilt with strength and hope — planting olive and fruit trees where grapevines once stood.
We spent the day strawberry picking, collecting eggs, and later cooking traditional dishes in his kitchen. Fabio’s warmth, resilience, and love for the land made this experience truly special — a beautiful reminder of renewal and the spirit of the Douro Valley.

My fiancé and I took Fabio’s cooking class just before our wedding, and it became one of our most cherished memories. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home — his friendly dogs and cats added such warmth to the beautiful farmstead setting.
Walking the property, learning about his gardens and animals, and then cooking together was an incredible experience. The dishes we made were delicious — recipes we’ll recreate every anniversary to relive that special day. Sharing the meal afterward with refreshing wine and beer made it all the more perfect.

This was an absolute 11 out of 10 experience. From the moment we got to the farm, we were greeted by Fabio’s hospitality and generosity. There was a beautiful brunch spread waiting for us, with various breads, cheeses, and appetizers. We then got a tour of the farm and met all the farm animals, gathered fruits, vegetables, and eggs for the recipes, and then cooked an authentic, four course meal to share with the group. This experience felt like we were living a true farm-to-table Portuguese lifestyle and was by far a standout of our trip. Thank you so much to Fabio and his family for welcoming us into their home!

It was an amzing experience. Fábio is an incredible and open host. It was just the two of us, and he welcomed us wholeheartedly. He shared a lot about the farm and his life, and told is about his plans for rebuilding the farm after the devastating fires last year. After a plentiful and unexpected brunch, he showed us around the quinta and then we had the cooking lesson. We learned to make four delicious dishes and had interesting conversations, including quickly meeting his wife and daughter while they came home for lunch. He even took us to a store afterwards to purchase some Portuguese kitchenware that is not easy to purchase in the Netherlands. A wonderful experience that we highly recommend!..

I joined this Traditional Cooking Class, Farm Tour & Lunch in the Douro Valley, and it was such a hit for me and my kids! The farm was full of yummy stuff—lemons, strawberries, plums, and herbs in summer. They even said winter brings chestnuts and wild mushrooms! The kids loved picking and tasting the strawberries and plums right off the plants—so sweet and fresh!
Our host, Fabio, was fantastic. He knew everything about the food and how it’s grown, explaining it in a fun, simple way that even my kids understood. He was so friendly and kept everyone smiling, making the whole tour a blast for the whole family.
The cooking class was awesome! Fabio showed us step-by-step how to make traditional dishes and desserts with what we picked. It was easy enough even for the kids to handle —the cutting, mixing, and cooking together was really so much fun.
This was such a lovely family day. If you’re in the Douro Valley, you’ve got to try this. It’s worth every penny!

By far one of the best things to do if you are in Porto/Duro Valley. Fabio welcome us to his family's farm where he had a beautiful table set up with appetizers and wine. He then took us on walk around the farm and let us pick fresh fruit and visit the animals before all the cooking started. There were 10 of us and the set up and family cooking style was great. Fabio told us stories while we ate at one big table and drank his wine. Everything was delicious. The experience easily deserves more than five stars. We highly recommend.

This cooking class was so much more than we ever imagined, a truly unique and personal experience. At first, the photos almost seemed too good to be true: incredible food, beautiful views, and sweet animals. But it’s all exactly as it looks, and even better in person.
We prepared two traditional Portuguese dishes and two local desserts, all from scratch. Before cooking, we toured the farm: picking fresh eggs and lemons, walking through the strawberry patches and vineyards, and meeting the goats, cows, and pigs. And don’t even get me started on the four loving dogs and two playful kittens who followed us around, making the whole experience feel magical.
We shared stories, tried local cheeses and wines, and learned so much about farm life, Portuguese culture, and tourism.
This is an absolute must-do experience, and I’ll be recommending it to anyone visiting Portugal.

We had a great time! We were greeted by a pack of adorable rescue dogs before meeting Fabio, who was an excellent host. Despite the recent fires, we still were able to do a farm tour, where we met all of their animals and gathered some fruit and eggs for our meal. Fabio guided us through cooking a great, authentic meal, sharing stories of the local culture, food, and his family. It was a fantastic experience. Definitely recommend!

This trip was the undisputed highlight of our Portugal holiday! Having taken the train to Marco de Canaveses, we were greeted on the farm by a whole bunch of super excited dogs. That, together with Fabio’s warm and welcoming nature, immediately made us feel at home. After a delicious cheese platter and some even more delicious wine, we set out to explore the farm and make friends with all the animals and livestock, before returning to the kitchen with more freshly picked fruit and produce than we could carry. What followed was a masterclass in traditional Portuguese cuisine that made us want to try out every single recipe of our three-and-a-half-course meal back home. Our time at Quinta de Louredo was hugely enjoyable and had it not been for our previous plans that night, we would have loved to stay even longer. Talking at length to Fabio gave us a much better insight into country and culture than any guided tour ever could. He is a terrific host and we can wholeheartedly recommend spending a day at his farm!

A delight! The best way to immerse yourself in the Portuguese culture. Our family of 5 spent the day with Fabio on his slice of paradise. We started the day with wine and fresh cheese and bread then Had a lovely walk around the farm; the menagerie of farm animals: dogs, cats, pigs, baby chicks and miniature cow along with fresh fruit hanging from trees that we tasted on the way. Back at the farm house we enjoyed much more wine (made by Fabio) along with a lovely lunch and delicious dessert. Fabio, along with 2 other guests, made this the highlight of our time spent in Porto.

Fabio led our cooking class and it was so much fun. He led us around the farm and we picked fresh fruit as we walked along. The food we made was delicious and lots of wine made right there at the farm. Its out in the country, but that is what makes it so special. Don’t hesitate to book this one.

This was the most lovely day! Fabio was so kind to share his farm with us. We enjoyed meeting all his animals; from a flock of geese to his many dogs, to his resident cow, they were all wonderful. We picked lemons, plums, and strawberries and then used our bounty in the dishes we prepared for lunch. His kitchen is spacious and seven of us enjoyed cooking together. The food was absolutely delicious. I will try and recreate his tomato soup once back home. We enjoyed cold pressed olive oil from the olives on his property, along with a crisp white wine they make with the grapes they grow. The best part of the day was getting a glimpse into Fabio’s love of family. Fabio’s Dad, Alfredo, was ill and in the hospital and it was obvious how much it upset Fabio. Fabio’s wife and two daughters made an appearance during our visit and clearly are the loves of his life. This is a special family and a special farm. Don’t hesitate to book this outing. You will love every minute.

What a fantastic experience at the Farm! Alfredo’s son spent the day with us as Alfredo was out - and he did a fantastic job! We started with a variety of cheeses and, toured the farm, met the animals, picked lemons. Plums, strawberries, and them prepared an amazing meal - highly recommend for an anyone!

We thoroughly enjoyed an amazing experience, starting with a delicious snack prepared for us by Fabio. A tour of the farm followed this and we were accompanied by their much beloved, well behaved dogs. We all participated in preparing a wonderful meal that we enjoyed immensely. Having the opportunity to spend the day with Alfredo and all his beautiful animals was a pure gift. This was truly one of the highlights of our week long trip to Porto! Having done numerous cooking classes throughout Europe and America, I can wholeheartedly say that Alfredo was one of, if not the, best experiences my wife and I have had. Despite only hosting the two of us on Easter Sunday, Alfredo did not cancel and in fact went out of his way to call us to make sure we had a ride to his place from the train stop! Once there, he welcomed us with wine, cheeses, fava beans, olives, and vino verde (my wife does not drink so he made fresh blueberry juice as well!).
Following this, we took a lovely tour of his farm, where we met his 7 rescue dogs (who all adore him) and saw everything from the vineyards to the baby geese and pigs to his beehives. Finally we came back inside to cook 4 very traditional dishes using mostly ingredients from his farm!
The meal started with a lovely tomato onion soup that was not only super tasty, but super easy to make. It followed with a dish of codfish, French fries (freshly made from his potatoes) and scrambled eggs (freshly collected from his chickens!). Finally we made a lovely custard dessert as well as a Aletria Doce (a sweet noodle based dessert).
We walked off the food and drink along his farm until it was time for our train. Alfredo kindly packed us all the leftovers (which we eagerly consumed over the next few days given how tasty and fresh it was) and dropped us off at the train station before saying good bye.
One of the best added benefits was simply sitting and chatting with Alfredo and hearing how his 300 year old farm and house has grown over the years. Hearing about the struggles he has faced in recent times with covid and climate change ruining much of the traditional crops and grapes helped put in perspective why he has opened the cooking experience (to keep finding his farm which he remains passionate about).
This was a once in a lifetime experience in the doura valley that I will wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting the area!
