We had Vincenzo has our Tour Guide for Pompeii and Herculaneum. He was simply fabulous! He was extremely knowledgeable on Pompeii and Herculaneum. We learned very much from him. It would be nice if EVERYONE could have Vincenzo as a Tour Guide!

Our guide’s background with a PhD in Classical studies meant all our questions were answered thoroughly and many links to other aspects of the region were identified. Her grasp of both sites meant we avoided crowds and saw newly available exhibits. She personally assisted us with unanticipated transit issues between sites, going above and beyond to ensure we were able to have this once-in-a-lifetime experience

Askos Tours was AMAZING, and IVAN, our archeologist, is the real deal! We could not have asked for a better tour of both incredible sites. There were seven of us on the tour, and we give it 14 thumbs up! Askos was great about communicating with us all along the way and even accommodated us in switching the two sites around according to the direction we were driving. Ivan took us off the beaten path of the crowds and gave us insight into the engineering and culture of these cities. He's engaging and a wealth of knowledge!

Sylvia was a fabulous guide and our family group of seven had a truly memorable experience touring both sites. We all got so more out of our visit with Sylvia as our guide. She was very knowledgeable, personable and engaging with all ages of our group. Her expertise as an archeologist working both sites led a depth to the tour that we are grateful to have experienced. Aksos Tours and Sylvia were also very helpful and gracious in assisting us when we messed up our train directions. 😜 Highly recommend.

Our tour guide (Marilee? Marili? Marie-lee? sorry) was SO knowledgeable, informative, and friendly. We learned a ton about the disaster, the homes/ businesses, the materials used, the styles of decoration, the victims, historical context, etc. I also really recommend the private tour if you can— there were many people and groups around, and it helped so much to have her to ourselves. Loved seeing both the sites and got much more out of it than I might have with just a map or audio tour.

Good but formulaic.

It was worth having a private guide as we saw more at our pace. Alessandra knew her stuff but was formulaic in delivery. She could perhaps have communicated more while walking in between stops as there were only 2 of us. The guide knew nothing about the guaranteed skipping of he queues which wasted time. We should have been advised to buy tickets for pompeii and herculaneum on the internet in advance. The meeting point was hard to find. Overall we enjoyed the tour and were glad we took it.

Giancarlo was fantastic! All three of the children 11,11,14 had a great time. He had so much patience with my daughter's questions. The adults loved the tour as well. We spent all of dinner taking about the tour and how it wouldn't have been as good without Giancarlo. We had four different tours during our vacation - This was the best! Having an Archaeologist as your guide definitely makes the difference. Since coming back to the States, I've told everyone about this tour and how it is a Must Do!
