Excellent 8 hours tour, from the beginning with Antonio, picking us up on time, with a big smile & a cardboard with my name at the cruise terminal. We had the best tour guide, Donatella in Pompeii & Ercolano, very professional… she explained us everything so pleasantly with all the details!!! In addition, we had for lunch a delicious italian typical meal, consisting of a salad and a spaghetti with the best cherry tomatoes I have ever tasted!!! (they are from the region of Pompeii)… we strongly recommend this tour with Donatella and Antonio!!!

Overall, it was a great tour. Our English speaking guide for the ruins Tomaso was excellent. He provided a great balance of archaeological facts with entertaining stories.
My suggestion that might have made the tour even better is to make sure the microphone is working properly so that everyone can hear the commentary in the Also they should not have bilingual groups. It wasn’t a huge problem, traveling with Spanish speaking guess because we were divided up at the ruins, but I find it a problem because when the guide is pointing out something in Spanish, you miss it when he starts describing it in English. Once again, this is only in the bus, we had a wonderful English speaking guide at the ruins.

The transport was quite crowded and the AC wasn’t on which made the travel a little uncomfortable. However our driver and transport guide did a great job of getting back to our cruise ship on time. A huge shout to our Heruleneum guide for being so knowledgeable and having family experience with the dig.

We were communicated very well for pick up point & time. Paola was very good getting tour guides organized for both Pompeii & Herculean and spoke English well. She was excellent in indicating times and meeting points. Our Pompeii guide Alessa spoke very well also and a wonderful guide. The whole experience was wonderful.

A great trip to visit the ancient Pompeii and Herculaneum sites. Amazing stories about how advanced our civilization had developed. Good communication from the travel agency. The licensed guide for the Pompeii visit was excellent. However, the licensed guide for the Herculaneum visit didn't speak English well. A nice person, though.

Avoid Worldtours! Booked tour back in July. Tour was to begin at 8am. Contacted Worldtours to advise the ship didn't dock until 8. Their response: "Don't worry we'll will wait for you. We will even call you if needed." I booked tour and paid for it. The day before the tour, Worldtours contacted me and advised because our ship didn't arrive until 8 they would only wait 10 minutes and they felt it likely we wouldn't get off the ship for 30 or 40 minutes (??) after docking and it would be unfair for their other guests to have to wait. So they canceled the tour. Their was no possibility to research and book a replacement tour on 24 hours notice. So missed out on what was likely a once in a lifetime experience. Shame on Worldtours. Avoid them at all costs. Viator should fo a better job vetting their tours. They usually do a good job. In fact I was on another Viator tour in Rome when I got the cancelation notice. That tour was fantastic in every way. So Viator can come up with great tours. Unfortunately, for us, Worldtours is NOT one of them.

Dear customer, the issue with your booking was not having to wait for you at the port, as we are prepared to accommodate guests arriving from cruise ships. The communication reached you because your ship was scheduled to arrive at 8:00 a.m., allowing you to disembark from 8:30 a.m. onwards, which was impossible for us since our tours, being shared, have multiple pick-ups and strict schedules to follow. In any case, your booking is still active, and you would need to cancel it to receive a full refund.

This trip was everything I needed it to be and more. I have dreamed of seeing these ruins for as long as I can remember, and this tour did not disappoint. Carmela managed the trip beautifully, making sure to arrange timely pickups for our group in convenient areas, then giving us great information on the way to the ruins. Francesco was a great driver, we felt comfortable for the whole ride. Nando was our guide in the actual ruins and he is a WEALTH of knowledge and humor. He kept us in quieter areas so that we could hear as well as took us to the spots with the best angles for viewing the ruins. He was patient and helpful with the group, accommodating those who needed a slower pace while still educating and moving other group members along. A true expert! We had the best day.

I think it would have been good if we could have done the one we originally booked. WasNot enough people booked for a 8 person tour. So was canceled, Got an email a 2 days before. We were moved to an 18 person group. Would get a partial refund. My email said meet 10 minutes before 8am, we were there 20 minutes early. Many World Tour guides were there with lists but our names weren't on any of them. We asked several times are we in the right place, we were told just wait here they're running late. No one ever came, and by the time we figured out we were probably not in the correct place, it was 8:30. I had given the Operator my direct number, asked them to contact me on WhatsApp, but never did a get a responce, nore on the contact Operator message app. Bottom line we were left. I tried to call, but call did not go through...a local lent me their phone, by the time I got in touch with someone the guide was long gone.
We asked for a full refund...

Our communications are always sent through the Viator dashboard, and your pickup was not confirmed using that method. A message with the time and meeting point was also sent to you again the evening before.

We had to cover a lot of uneven ground quickly in Pompeii and my 78 year old husband struggled with the walking. We did not realize the distance we would have to cover. Our guide was highly knowledgeable and brought history to life. Sadly, my husband did not complete the tour and sat and waited for us at Hurculaneum. Our guide there was also very knowledgeable. Herculaneum was much more manageable in terms of size and crowds.

This is probably a lower rating than the tour actually deserves. The actual spots we visited were incredible and I have nothing but praise for Patricia (our driver), Sharon (our guide in Pompeii), and Flavio (our guide in Herculeam).
That said, the tour itself and our main guide, Alessandra, left a lot to be desired. First of all, the vans we were in were cramped. My husband is tall and it was a miserable car ride for him. Having done other tours in Italy before this in other vans, it is clear that this was a downgrade. Second, Alessandra and the way she managed the tour were infantilizing and frankly upsetting. We were told our pick up was at 8:20 and to be there 10 minutes early. I received a phone call at 8:10 on the dot asking where we were and were told that they were "waiting for us" - we were 2 minutes away (walking), but still ahead of our pick up time. Fine. Then, we were done and out of our Pompeii tour at 11:30. We hadn't booked the accompanying lunch, so we wanted to head out and find a restaurant. Alessandra would not let us. She said that we had to sit around in the little tourist area outside of Pompeii for 30 minutes so we could all walk over together (her little ducklings because she's mama duck as if that isn't completely infantilizing to grown adults!) to the restaurant booked for those who got those reservations so we'd know where to get picked up. We asked her to just tell us the location so we could be on our way and she refused. We ended up sitting around doing nothing for 30 minutes, so we could walk.... across the street. It was infuriating. To add insult on top of injury, she said to meet at 12. Again, at 11:57, she calls me to ask where I am, when I was literally right behind her. It's just frustrating to be treated that way when I'm a grown adult who has the internet at her disposal and can figure out a meeting spot across the street.

Regarding Alessandra, we want to clarify that her “mama duck” comment was meant to be lighthearted and to engage the group in a playful way, not to infantilize anyone. Our assistant’s intention was simply to make the experience fun and interactive.
The tour schedule is carefully timed to ensure all stops and visits can be completed within the allotted time. If the group had paused for an independent lunch, it would have slowed down the entire tour and affected other participants’ experience. We appreciate your understanding and hope this helps clarify the approach taken during the tour.

Long day, but nice way to see the sights. The small group tour was convenient have have a small van pick us up from downtown and drop us back off. Lunch was better than expected, nothing crazy, but good. Tour guides at both sites and with the van were very good. A bit expensive for what you get, but overall a good experience.

Excellent small group tour! Highly recommend seeing everything you want to see in a small group. There is so much to see and learn that a large group excursion would have made it impossible to cover everything that our WorldTours guide easily covered with us. It was easy to: ask questions, follow and hear the guide, and bonus points for including lunch at a delicious restaurant within a very short walking distance of Pompeii.
Unfortunately, I suffered a medical emergency in the parking lot at Herculaneum and missed that part of the tour. After being tended to and cleared by a local ambulance team, my husband and I were reunited with the group and our WorldTours driver, Raffaele Battiloro, returned us safely to the port. Due to Raffaele’s assistance, attention to time and detail, we never once worried that we would be late for our ship. A special thank you to our small group tour mates from Australia and Spain for their support, concern, and most of all their assistance, during my medical emergency. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Wow, to be right inside Pompeii was fabulous. Though we did a lot of walking it was worth the experience of seeing 2000 years of history right before our eyes. I was so impressed with how advanced the Roman's were with all the engineering and the influence the Greeks had on the artwork and decor. This was a once in a lifetime unforgettable experience!

Full day of amazing sights and information. Pompeii was a bit over crowded but it was still worth it. Herculenium much smaller than Pompeii but just as interesting with a fraction of the crowds. Enjoyed herculenium a bit more. Lunch was basic. Driver and guide worked hard to make it a memorable day and did a great job. Archeologist did a great job and answered all questions. Great day.

Picked up from hotel, the journey there was very good with our tour guide giving plenty of information about where we were and also about where we were going’s - met our next guide at Pompeii and gettiing in was easy (pre-paid) we did around 2 hours and everything was informative, guide answered everyone’s questions - we saw a very small portion of the whole site (would take a week to do it all) but what we did see gave us a decent flavour of what it would have been like - all in all very informative and enjoyable - wear a hat on a sunny day and decent shoes

Although offered a pick up place in a drop down menu on the site, instead of our hotel, our pick up spot was a 20 min walk away. The pick up guide, Francesco, was okay and kinda funny. The guide for Pompeii was just okay and kinda hurried and harried. Pompeii itself was very cool. The guide for Hurculaneum was better and seemed to know quite a bit about it and the times. Lunch was provided and it was okay, too, but the establishment tried to charge us 19 euro each. The guide wasn’t around so we just walked out. The description of the tour included wine tasting at the end but that didn’t happen.

Pompeii was incredible. So many things to learn and see. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered tons of questions. There was enough time to take it all in and then she let us spend some time on our own after the tour was completed. This portion was truly 5 stars
Herculaneum was mostly a repeat of Pompeii. Given the weather (hot and humid) and the similarity of the two, it would have been easy to skip the 2nd part. The guide was very knowledgeable as well but kept repeating "you may have seen this in Pompeii" and then explained it in a lot of detail. She was very enthusiastic but the tour dragged on for at least 30 minutes longer than expected or necessary. This part was 3 stars.
