Everything about this trip was worth the money. Raffi (tour guide) was excellent. The 2 archeologists highlighted things that I would have missed, as well as the detailed explanations about Pompeii (Anna) and herculeanum (Nina). Nina was especially entertaining and enthusiastic!
The group being small was excellent and being a solo traveller I was included in comments which is not always the case.
Although pricey due to the peak holiday time, it was totally worth it.
The only "downside" was the extreme heat! - the air-conditioned bus was a welcome break.

It’s not the guide’s fault that she couldn’t stop more. But I was too busy watching where I walked on the stone roads to have a look at what she was talking about.

We were totally amazed by what we learned about Pompei and Herculaneum. The tour brought that time back to life and I could just imagine what it was like to live there.

We had a wonderful experience on the Pompeii and Herulaneum tour. Our driver, Antonio, contacted us the morning of the tour and arrived on time to pick us up in a large and comfortable van. He provided excellent local information in both English and Spanish, as well as cold water during the incredibly hot and humid day. Upon arriving at Pompeii we met our tour guide, Rafaelo, who was friendly and provided excellent information at Pompeii as well as Herculaneum. The heat was excessive on this day, but Rafaelo gave us many options to manage the heat. Overall it was one of the best tours during our Mediterranean vacation.

We absolutely loved our visit to Pompeii and Herculaneum. Nina was our guide and it was so obvious how passionate she is about passing on the knowledge of eruption in 79AD and respecting the sites we visited. Nina was friendly, well organised, funny and engaging and we learned so much from her. She was very aware of the heat and gave us shelter from the sun as much as possible on the tour. We did Pompeii first which really helped us see the similarities and differences between the two sites. The tour really makes you appreciate the history and immense power of Vesuvius which stands proudly over Naples and surrounding areas. We loved our visit to Naples and thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Excellent experience - friendly Salvatore made us feel at home and made sure we were where we needed to be and provided much needed bottled water at the right moments (it was quite a hot day). Luca got us to and from the sites. Tomaso (Herculaneum) and Roberto (Pompeii) were excellent guides! They brought the Roman ruins to life for us. Highly recommended tour from start to finish!

The tour picked us up at the port. The tour at both sites was very good. Tour guide is very knowledgeable of the sites.

The actual tours of Pompeii and Herculaneum are conducted by dedicated English~only guides who were very knowledgeable and entertaining.
But the trip… We were herded into a tiny minibus with zero legroom (I’m only 5’6”!) and practically nonexistent storage and deactivated chargers, The tour leader had loaded both an English and Spanish group and was fast-talking her comments nonstop in one language after the other. We had nearly a 2 hour lunch break with nothing to do but overpriced tourist shopping. And on the way home somehow it took 50 minutes from Herculaneum to Napoli rather than the normal 25. We were offered no water, and food or drink were prohibited in the claustrophobic bus.
If I were to go back, I would make my own driving arrangements and try to find a local guide at its location. Actually I wouldn’t bother with Herculaneum unless you’re a real history buff. It’s one plus: it was less crowded than Pompeii, which was groups fighting each other all over.

The individual guides at the sites were. good. However the lack of coordination from the provider resulted in long waits of 90 minutes prior to lunch and 30 minutes prior to start of afternoon event in hot sun.The primary guide Frederica had. no experience and did not offer any information . Better to schedule one site only. We have used Viator many times ipast with much better results.

Excellent 8 hours tour, from the beginning with Antonio, picking us up on time, with a big smile & a cardboard with my name at the cruise terminal. We had the best tour guide, Donatella in Pompeii & Ercolano, very professional… she explained us everything so pleasantly with all the details!!! In addition, we had for lunch a delicious italian typical meal, consisting of a salad and a spaghetti with the best cherry tomatoes I have ever tasted!!! (they are from the region of Pompeii)… we strongly recommend this tour with Donatella and Antonio!!!

Overall, it was a great tour. Our English speaking guide for the ruins Tomaso was excellent. He provided a great balance of archaeological facts with entertaining stories.
My suggestion that might have made the tour even better is to make sure the microphone is working properly so that everyone can hear the commentary in the Also they should not have bilingual groups. It wasn’t a huge problem, traveling with Spanish speaking guess because we were divided up at the ruins, but I find it a problem because when the guide is pointing out something in Spanish, you miss it when he starts describing it in English. Once again, this is only in the bus, we had a wonderful English speaking guide at the ruins.

The transport was quite crowded and the AC wasn’t on which made the travel a little uncomfortable. However our driver and transport guide did a great job of getting back to our cruise ship on time. A huge shout to our Heruleneum guide for being so knowledgeable and having family experience with the dig.

We were communicated very well for pick up point & time. Paola was very good getting tour guides organized for both Pompeii & Herculean and spoke English well. She was excellent in indicating times and meeting points. Our Pompeii guide Alessa spoke very well also and a wonderful guide. The whole experience was wonderful.

A great trip to visit the ancient Pompeii and Herculaneum sites. Amazing stories about how advanced our civilization had developed. Good communication from the travel agency. The licensed guide for the Pompeii visit was excellent. However, the licensed guide for the Herculaneum visit didn't speak English well. A nice person, though.

Avoid Worldtours! Booked tour back in July. Tour was to begin at 8am. Contacted Worldtours to advise the ship didn't dock until 8. Their response: "Don't worry we'll will wait for you. We will even call you if needed." I booked tour and paid for it. The day before the tour, Worldtours contacted me and advised because our ship didn't arrive until 8 they would only wait 10 minutes and they felt it likely we wouldn't get off the ship for 30 or 40 minutes (??) after docking and it would be unfair for their other guests to have to wait. So they canceled the tour. Their was no possibility to research and book a replacement tour on 24 hours notice. So missed out on what was likely a once in a lifetime experience. Shame on Worldtours. Avoid them at all costs. Viator should fo a better job vetting their tours. They usually do a good job. In fact I was on another Viator tour in Rome when I got the cancelation notice. That tour was fantastic in every way. So Viator can come up with great tours. Unfortunately, for us, Worldtours is NOT one of them.

Dear customer, the issue with your booking was not having to wait for you at the port, as we are prepared to accommodate guests arriving from cruise ships. The communication reached you because your ship was scheduled to arrive at 8:00 a.m., allowing you to disembark from 8:30 a.m. onwards, which was impossible for us since our tours, being shared, have multiple pick-ups and strict schedules to follow. In any case, your booking is still active, and you would need to cancel it to receive a full refund.

This trip was everything I needed it to be and more. I have dreamed of seeing these ruins for as long as I can remember, and this tour did not disappoint. Carmela managed the trip beautifully, making sure to arrange timely pickups for our group in convenient areas, then giving us great information on the way to the ruins. Francesco was a great driver, we felt comfortable for the whole ride. Nando was our guide in the actual ruins and he is a WEALTH of knowledge and humor. He kept us in quieter areas so that we could hear as well as took us to the spots with the best angles for viewing the ruins. He was patient and helpful with the group, accommodating those who needed a slower pace while still educating and moving other group members along. A true expert! We had the best day.

I think it would have been good if we could have done the one we originally booked. WasNot enough people booked for a 8 person tour. So was canceled, Got an email a 2 days before. We were moved to an 18 person group. Would get a partial refund. My email said meet 10 minutes before 8am, we were there 20 minutes early. Many World Tour guides were there with lists but our names weren't on any of them. We asked several times are we in the right place, we were told just wait here they're running late. No one ever came, and by the time we figured out we were probably not in the correct place, it was 8:30. I had given the Operator my direct number, asked them to contact me on WhatsApp, but never did a get a responce, nore on the contact Operator message app. Bottom line we were left. I tried to call, but call did not go through...a local lent me their phone, by the time I got in touch with someone the guide was long gone.
We asked for a full refund...

We had to cover a lot of uneven ground quickly in Pompeii and my 78 year old husband struggled with the walking. We did not realize the distance we would have to cover. Our guide was highly knowledgeable and brought history to life. Sadly, my husband did not complete the tour and sat and waited for us at Hurculaneum. Our guide there was also very knowledgeable. Herculaneum was much more manageable in terms of size and crowds.
