Itinerary
Meet your guide at Milan Central Station, and relax on the journey either by train or minibus to Lake Como. Stop to stretch your legs and soak up the lake views before the journey continues.
The route passes through Italy’s Valtellina valley, a beautiful area that cuts through the mountains. After a stop in a typical winery or café, continue to Tirano for a quick lunch (own expense) before boarding the Bernina Train on the Express railway.
Aboard the little red train, pass high into the hills, crossing bridges and viaducts along the way. The terrain here is rugged yet scenic, and lends itself to sweeping views of the Alps and lakes.
Disembark at Ospizio Bernina (summer) or Diavolezza (winter). Continue by coach or minibus to the mountain town of St. Moritz for shopping and walking, then travel onward to Colico for your train back to Milan.

Would definitely recommend! Long day with lots of stops. Great to see Lake Como in the off season. Plenty of time in various stops for coffee, lunch, shopping, etc. The views from the train were spectacular! Luca was a great guide! Very knowledgeable and adapted quickly to local train strikes. A great way to spend a day outside of Milan!

Good instructions for meeting venue, found easily, met by Paula a lovely lady who saw us on the train and waited till we departed and waved us off. Joined later on train by Marie our guide for the day who was very knowledgeable and friendly, when we disembarked the train we met our driver Luca a lovely yams excellent safe driver. We saw and did a lot more than expected and both Marie and Luca went out of their way to make our day very special. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely recommend this trip to anyone, thank you Viator for using Luca from Italy tours as they were amazing.

It's a long day and you're tired by the end of it but post of that tiredness is just the excitement and adrenaline of the views of the apps as you continue your climb. Great guide and a wonderful day punctuated with spectacular mountain views of the Apps and beautiful small towns nestled in gorgeous valleys. Winery was a nice stop along the way and lunch was a welcome break.

I highly recommend this phenomenal tour. It had the right amount of people and the itinerary covered a lot of ground. We had an amazing time from start to finish. My teenage daughter and I journeyed on this adventure together and I must say it was an experience of a lifetime. Luca took great care of us every step of the way. He enriched us with the history of Lake Como, Tirano, Switz Alps, and more. We had an opportunity to stop at a winery on the way, where I enjoyed a glass of wine and complimentary charcuterie snack. The views on the Bernina were breathtaking and Luca provided directional guidance so that everyone knew what to expect as the ride progressed. Our chartered driver was also very pleasant. Do not hesitate to book this tour you will not be disappointed.

The day trip to Bernina Express is an amazing and unforgetable experience! A lot of beautiful landscapes! The Lake Como, the Bernina Express railway and also the return from St. Moritz are all awesome. Luca organized each detail of the tour and everything was good. The tour guide, Raffaele, also did a great job. He led the group very friendly and polite. He also knows very much about the places we visited. I and my friends had a great day!

This tour is awesome. You get to see Lake Como and a few other quaint cities or villages on your way to St. Moritz in Switzerland. Our tour guide was great and very knowledgeable. The train ride was wonderful. You can pull the windows down and get fantastic pictures of the Alps. It’s a very long day but well worth it.

10/10 experience. I would 100% recommend Luca was a phenomenal tour guide. He took great care of our group and had the itinerary accurate to the exact minute. Our group learned a ton and he was even nice enough to take us to his family’s winery to try a glass of authentic Italian wine. it is a long trip mostly spent on a cramped bus. Beautiful views during the journey. Very little time spent in St. Moritz. The return is not by train but bus and is subject to traffick delays. Our guide Julia was knowledgeable and friendly. Our driver was skilled and patient.

The highlight of our tour is the Bernina Train and not St. Moritz (see the tour title) and we never use the Bernina Train on the return (see tour description) because it would mean to be back in Milan around 11 pm.
All the mountain road are usually winding and traffic is something out of our control!

Went on this tour with my husband. We started in Milan. Luca (our guide) was very informative, very funny, and took care of us very well. He made sure everyone got a chance to take photos,videos, and made sure we don't miss all the important stops. He made sure to make reservations for us in case it was too busy that day and we might not have a table to eat. Me and my husband had a great time on this trip. This is our first group tour (we usually move fast and do our own thing) and we are glad that we had a great time. From seeing the lake, to being on a bus, getting on a train, seeing snow (and Switzerland of course). I would recommend this and to make sure Luca is there to guide you. He is a gem!

We had a fantastic tour to St Moritz from Milan today! Everything was superbly organised from start to finish. My messages to Luca were answered quickly and all the correspondence was professional and timely.
Our day started with the train from Milan to Lecco and then we were met by a bus to take us to Bellano for a quick stop, and then Tirano where we had lunch, and then we boarded the Bernina train. The scenery was breathtaking.
Mari was a brilliant guide and we thoroughly enjoyed her company. Our driver was also so accommodating and good humoured.
Thank you for giving us an excellent day trip from Milan and we’ll be back to take more tours in the future!

Incredible even off season! Luca was our charming guide. He is so thoughtful of little details that make a big difference, gives plenty of context and info as we drove, and allows for plenty of time without wasting it or rushing us.
He placed us on the train in a car where we could see out both sides and gave us a map us key spots to have cameras ready for. We knew the towns would be mostly closed so we focused on taking in the sites and enjoying the company of our new friends. I would do this tour again and again, but next time, I’d scout out open restaurants in town to minimize searching and I’d bring car sickness meds. Luca is a very careful driver, but the roads outside St Moritz were essentially switchbacks.
This is great for any kind of group and a great way to spend the day! I give Luca 10 Stars!!!

Absolutely beautiful experience. Lake Cuomo to the Alps to St. Moritz. Transportation was great with a comfortable van to the charming Bermina trains. Luca was a wonderful host who took care of everyone on the tour. Highly recommend this tour if you have a full-day to adventure out of Milan.

What an amazing and fun day! We were based in Milan for a few days and took a few day trips, and this was by far a top highlight of our trip! Luca, Luisa and Silvia took care of every detail and made sure we were well taken care of and enjoyed our time. I highly, highly recommend this small-group tour. We were a group of 11 and had a train car all to ourselves. We took a 30-minute or so train ride from Milan Central Station where we were met by Luisa, who made sure we were on the correct train and knew where exactly to disembark. There we were met by our guide Silvia and our driver in Lecco, Silvia's hometown. It is a beautiful city, and we will be back someday to visit there for sure. It borders Lake Como. We had a short drive from there to a small town on Lake Como where we had time for a rest stop and a coffee. We were then bussed (small bus-type van, very comfy) to where we picked up our Bernina train, where we had plenty of time for a very nice lunch in the town before boarding. Silvia gave us a few recommendations for restaurants. We did have a rest stop beforehand at a quaint, local shop that carried local cheeses, jams, etc. (the cheese is delicious!) The bus ride, itself, from beginning to end was very scenic as well.
But the highlight was the Bernina train ride to St. Moritz. The scenery is beautiful and serene, and the air is so fresh. It was so much fun to have all the windows open for photos (the car is well heated). We were in St. Moritz for about an hour, hour and a half. This was the off season, so most stores and restaurants were closed. But the views are gorgeous, and Silvia escorted us to a very nice chocolate shop. From there we bussed back to Lecco and caught the train back to Milan. It's a long day, but it is worth every single moment. We enjoyed getting back, finding a restaurant to relax with food and wine and talk about what we loved about the day.
I attached some photos, which don't do the scenery any justice. You won't go wrong if you book this tour. Silvia was a wonderful guide, professional, super knowledgeable, entertaining, funny and energetic, and I hope to meet up with her again when we visit Lecco!

Very well organized, we were given good amount of time at the Lake Como, Tirano, local cheese/other products store, and St Morritz stops for either coffee, quick shopping, lunch or to enjoy the view. The Bernina train ride was outstanding, with the cart reserved for the group which gave us the opportunity to move around and enjoy the beautiful views on both sides. Our tour gui Paola wax very knowledgeable, organized and communicative, clearly providing all activities, details, and history. Overall. a great experience

Luca, our guide, was wonderful and charming. There were some train scheduling changes that happened outside of his control and he made sure we all got where we needed to go and were accounted for. I would've liked more time in St. Moritz and the village near Como where we started. Most of the time is spent on the train and in the bus. Also, we had a bus meant for school children so there was not enough leg room if you were more than 5 feet tall. Not the tour guide's fault at all, just made it uncomfortable for hours of bus riding.

Milano is far both from the Bernina Train station in Tirano and St. Moritz therefore there is not other way than spending long time on the bus / train!
As per our Tour title the highlight is neither Lake Como nor St. Moritz (although passing by we have a chance to see them and shortly stop there) but the Bernina Train.
The bus was not meant for children but for school students age 16 to 19 so we assume that in general they are quite tall.
Being also the owner of the Tour Operator besides the guide I often asked passengers if they were comfortable with seats, temperature, etc and didn't have any straightforward complain!

Silvia was our tour guide and she was exceptional! Weather was a 10/10! Our group met at Milan Centrale, took the train to Bellano. Met the driver who took us to the station to catch the Bernina Express. Silvia gave us recommendations to have a quick lunch. We then continued on the Bernina Express and the sights are breathtaking!
