Curated off the beaten path wine tour

Sumi_R, Jun 2026
Oleg, our driver and tour guide was extremely well read and shared his vast knowledge with us on varied topics making the whole experience very enjoyable. He took us to very exclusive places that most people would never have access to and hence the tour was very curated.

Energetic Wine Tour

Bing_T, Jun 2026
Very nice wine tasting experience to BARBARESCO wines in Piedmont region. Exceptional lunch experience at Hostaria dai Musi. All thanks to our tour guy and to the driver who provides with the most comfortable ride on an executive coach. The introduction speech of Italy history, area highlights and local culture makes the two hour road ride an enjoyable journey. Highly recommended!

Fine but not amazing for the price paid

fran_B, Jun 2026
The trip sounded more exciting with UNESCO site and wine region. The guide Stéfano is very knowledgeable about Italy, Milan and the areas visited. It’s a long drive there and when we get to the historic site, we are left to visit on our own (there’s a path below with great signage and information or you pay for a visit of the castle but not even sure we had enough time) while the guide takes a coffee; then on to Alba where the local product tasting is great and the recommended restaurant excellent (we do this on our own); then to winery for visit and tasting. Great wine tasting with the owner and wine specialist in beautiful setting. All in all it’s a fine tour but just not worth what we paid. Of course, we then had a bus problem on way back with tire blowout and had to wait 2.5 hours on the side of the highway. Upon examination, all tires were in poor shape. I do not blame the tour operator who did his best to solve this except that a better quality bus should have been booked from the beginning. Again, all I ask is to get what we pay for. As a comparison, we had done two very different tours in two other cities in prior four days that were excellent.

The tour guide was Excellent!!!! This tour is a must-see ! The town of Alba was lovely, food outstanding! The winery was amazing. Best I've been to so far n I've been to Napa n Tuscany.

The tour guide (Andrea)...

Frederico_T, Jun 2026
The tour guide (Andrea) and the driver were great (5/5), nothing but compliments. Winery (3/5): We had expected to go to more than one winery based on the tour description and the cost. The winery we went to was a beautiful setting but the wines themselves were just ok. Out of the six or seven wines we tried, only one was a Barolo. Barolo is our favourite kind of wine and these were underwhelming. We were expecting to go to Barolo, but it seems we were brought Barbaresco only. The wine selection was a bit disappointing

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for the kind words about Andrea and the driver. Just to clarify: the tour includes one winery with generous wines, exactly as described, and is designed to be relaxed, not rushed. The winery you visited pours both Barolo and Barbaresco — you actually tasted two Barolos, plus a single-cru 3 Barbaresco, a lovely wine very close in style to Barolo. Barolo is produced across 11 villages, with many excellent wineries to explore. For guests who'd like to choose a specific winery and a custom itinerary, we also offer private tours, at a higher price. On value: a small group, well planned and unhurried, costs more than the €129 alternatives — but those pack 50 people onto a bilingual coach. The experience isn't comparable. We'd love to welcome you back. Best regards, Oleg Abroads Tours

Will never forget our wonderful visit

It was an amazing experience! We saw some truly unique sites on our tour. Our guide and driver were wonderful. Andrea and Fabio took care of us the whole time. The wine tasting was unforgettable. We had such a wonderful time in Alba because he had plenty of time to enjoy everything I’ve ever experienced, and we also had one of the best meals ever! The castle and site were breathtaking. 100% recommend this tour, you will love it.

Amazing 1 day tour to Alba, Barolo & Barbaresco areas, with wine tasting

Anthea_G, May 2026
Amazing experience with our guide - Amato & driver - Alberto. Both very friendly & helpful people. A wonderful one day trip of the Langhe region where we visited the little town of Grizane Cavour, with panoramic backdrop of Barolo vineyards. Followed by a 2 hour in beautiful Alba city, where we have lunch on our own. Amato recommended a list of restaurants in Alba & a few of us went with his favourite. Food was indeed yummilicious! Then, we ended our tour perfectly in Barbaresco, visiting a family owned vineyard & winery. Our host in the winery - Stefano was also very good. & of course, wine tastings after a quiet winery tour. I tasted about 8 wines, including the welcome cocktail made with a white moscato. So perfect for the hot day! Overall a very much recommended day tour!

Michael_C, May 2026
This was an amazing experience! It was a small group in a very comfortable MB van instead of the huge tour buses. Our driver, Alberto, got us to the three locations and back to Milan safe and sound and our tour guide, Amato, was very informative and suggested a great place to eat in Alba. After exploring the castle and then Alba at our leisure we were off to the wine tasting to have some fantastic wines from Barbaresco and Barolo! This was a nice, laid-back tour and a perfect way to end our trip to Europe!

Lovely

Leigh_C, May 2026
Lovely scenery. Amato and Fabio were good guides. Should have included more than one winery for the length of the trip.

Alba and Barolo wine experience!

Marie_B, May 2026
This was a wonderful day trip from Milan, in which we got to see a different region of Italy. Alba was beautiful, we had a wonderful meal there. And the Barolo wine tasting experience was perfect. Our guide Amato and driver Fabio did an excellent job.

Fun and Wine

Best day of our Milan visit

David_S, Apr 2026
This excursion was the highlight of our visit to Milan. The van was comfortable and our guide and driver were informative and friendly. We stopped at a beautiful castle with amazing view of the vineyards and the snow capped mountains in the backround. The stop at Alba was so much fun. The town was so clean and beautiful. We had a private visit and tasting of white truffles and hazelnuts which was so informative. The guide made reservations at a Michelin restaurant that was wonderful. I wish we had more time in Alba as there were so many shops I wanted to visit (next time). The wine tasting was the last stop and it was great. The view from the vineyard was spectacular. The whole day was amazing.

This small group of 18 with 2 choices of meeting places was so fun and so convenient. Our guide was fabulous, the van was so nice and the scenery was beautiful. The wine tasting was so good, so fun and in the perfect setting - overlooking the vineyards.

Our trip was fantastic!...

Sandra_J, Apr 2026
Our trip was fantastic! The town of Alba was so charming. Loved the truffle tasting, then a stop by local outdoor market followed by an incredible lunch outside to take in the quaint while atmosphere. The wine tasting in Barolo region did not disappoint !!! We were provided an intimate wine experience with the family/owners themselves (and I believe tasted 8 red wines in total). The highlight of our entire day was our exceptional guide Oleg!!! He was such a pleasure to spend the day with while sharing a wealth of local knowledge.

Joan_M, Dec 2025
One which you must take if visiting the Milan area. This tour takes you to the charming town of Alba with cobblestone streets with plenty of shops and restaurants. In the afternoon, you will visit an old beautiful castle and afterwards visit the Barolo winery with samples of their wonderful wine. A long day but worth it!

Excellent tour!

Patricia_M, Nov 2025

Great Barolo wine tour! Fun guide, beautiful views.

Phum_T, Oct 2025
A wonderful day trip from Milan! Our guide, Stefano, was friendly, fun, and very knowledgeable about Barolo wines and the region. The tour was well-paced, with plenty of time to enjoy the wine tastings, the charming town of Alba, and the beautiful UNESCO castle. I also appreciated the great restaurant and local food recommendations from Stefano — everything he suggested was spot on. Overall, a well-organized and enjoyable experience for anyone who loves good wine and Italian countryside charm.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! I’m really glad to hear you enjoyed the day and that the pacing, wine, and local stops all came together just right. Kia was a fantastic tour guide. She was knowledgeable, fun and took note to take care of us at every moment. The wine country was breathtaking! The one winery we stopped at was ok.. wine was fair but not good. I would have liked to stop at more than one winery. Alba was a surprise with such a beautiful quaintness.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughts and for your kind words about Kia. She truly embodies the spirit of Abroads Tours—knowledgeable, attentive, and always focused on creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. I’m glad to hear you appreciated the beauty of the Langhe and the charm of Alba. Regarding your comment about the number of wineries, I’d like to explain the philosophy behind how we design our tours. Our goal is to create a balanced and authentic day, where travelers can experience not just wine, but the full essence of the region. This includes the cultural and historical heritage, the landscapes, the local cuisine, and the rhythm of life that makes this part of Italy so special. In one day, we aim to provide a harmonious combination of experiences: a guided visit and tasting at a carefully selected winery, the discovery of traditional products from local artisans, and a relaxed lunch in Alba, where guests can savor the excellence of Piedmontese cuisine—especially during truffle season. We also include a stop at Grinzane Cavour Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which offers a deep sense of place and history that complements the wine experience beautifully. Doing more than one winery in a single day would change the nature of the tour, turning it into a more rushed itinerary. Our intent is to avoid that—our groups are small for a reason, allowing everyone to truly enjoy the food, the wine, the people, and the landscape without feeling hurried. The wines you tasted are among the most respected in the area, and while preferences are always subjective, we strive to offer a tasting that reflects both quality and value, consistent with the spirit of our tours. For those seeking a deeper dive into the wine scene or who prefer to focus exclusively on tastings, we do organize private tours. These can be fully customized, allowing guests to choose specific wineries and shape the itinerary according to their interests and pace. I truly appreciate your feedback—it helps us explain what we stand for and gives us the opportunity to improve while staying true to our vision of authentic, small-group travel. Warm regards, Stefano – Owner, Abroads Tours
