This is the best experience we have done so far! The tour guide was lovely and the scenery of St Moritz is a must see. The train was amazing and an overall wonderful experience. The tour guide and driver were kind and flexible to our needs! Highly recommend!

This experience was a bucket list item and did not disappoint! St. Moritz is beautiful and the mountains are amazingly beautiful. Our guide, Christina (sp?) was awesome and kept us all on schedule. Her knowledge of Italy and Austria is fascinating. Would go on this tour again without hesitation.

Itinerary

Your early morning starts with pickup at the meeting point in Piazza Duca d' Aosta in Milan. This trip has a private tour option for an intimate exploration of St. Moritz and the Swiss Alps with your own guide.

Meet your group, board your air-conditioned coach, and head out toward St. Moritz, a luxury alpine resort town in Switzerland’s Engadin valley. Along the way, stop for coffee and admire the views of Lake Como.

After free time in St. Moritz for shopping and pastry tastings (own expense), board the Bernina Red Train with a second-class ticket. Relax while the train “climbs” up to 7,390 feet (2,253 meters)—the highest point reached by trains in Europe—through the alps to Tirano on a route with UNESCO World Heritage status.

Arrive in Tirano by evening and return to the pickup point in Milan.

Our day trip on the Bernina Red Train through the Swiss Alps was nothing short of exceptional, and a huge part of that experience was thanks to Mary Christi and Salvatore, our driver. From start to finish, everything felt seamless, well-organised, and genuinely enjoyable. Mary Christi brought such warmth and enthusiasm to the day. Her knowledge of the route, the landscapes, and the little details you might otherwise miss really elevated the whole journey. She explained things clearly without ever overwhelming us, and her friendly, approachable manner made everyone feel comfortable and included. You could tell she genuinely cared about making sure everyone had a great time. Salvatore, our driver, was equally fantastic. The journey was incredibly smooth, and we felt completely safe and relaxed throughout. Navigating those mountain roads is no small task, but he handled it with total professionalism and calm confidence. It made a big difference knowing we were in such capable hands. And then there’s the experience itself — the Bernina Red Train is simply breathtaking. The views of the Swiss Alps are truly unforgettable: snow-capped peaks, glacial landscapes, charming villages, and dramatic mountain passes. Every turn seemed to reveal something even more beautiful than the last. It’s one of those journeys where you find yourself constantly reaching for your camera, yet also wanting to just sit back and take it all in. The pacing of the day was spot on. There was enough time to enjoy each stop without feeling rushed, but also enough structure to keep everything running smoothly. It struck the perfect balance between guided experience and personal freedom. Overall, this was a brilliantly organised trip with outstanding hosts. Mary Christi and Salvatore went above and beyond to make it special, and the scenery speaks for itself. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to explore the Swiss Alps in a comfortable, memorable, and truly spectacular way.

Unfortunately, this tour didn’t represent great value for us. Firstly, the tour guide was very nice and the driver very professional, but it seemed like a very long day for what was a fairly boring experience. It started with a fairly chaotic meeting point at 7:30am. Many tours were leaving at the same time and it wasn’t very clear where we should line up and board from. Then, a near 3 hour bus journey to St. Moritz. Stopping at a motorway service station along the way, not a Lake Como scenic viewpoint as I would expect. St. Moritz is a very nice town and worth visiting for lunch and walk around the shops. The train is basically a normal scheduled service with a carriage reserved for the tour group. It’s quite old and tired with fairly uncomfortable seating that has extremely limited leg room so you are tightly straddled opposite a stranger. The tour is quite scenic for the first hour but quickly becomes repetitive as it stops repeatedly along the route. Eventually we arrive at the destination for another 2h30m coach ride back to Milan. With another motorway service station along the way. For three adults, it cost over €400 and I can’t help feel that it was very poor value for money. I’d sooner have rented a car and driven myself. Whilst the tour guide was friendly, the microphone was piercing and difficult to understand. She said ‘okay’ at the end of every single sentence which quickly became irritating. And to drive by Lake Como and not get a chance to stop and take some photos is unforgivable. Be prepared for a long and tiring day.

We had a great time on this trip and are really happy we decided to go. Katia was fantastic — super attentive and made sure everyone was accounted for. And Glauco deserves a shoutout too; those zigzag roads looked intense, but he drove them like a pro. St. Moritz was beautiful, though the free time felt a bit short for lunch, especially with the 26‑minute round‑trip walk to the meeting point. And since you can’t eat on the bus, timing gets tight. The train ride was definitely the highlight — smooth, scenic, and memorable.

My teenage son and I loved this tour: well worth every penny. Coach was amazing (air-con, comfy, seat belts and a safe driver), guide was friendly, professional and informative, the scenery was stunning and the whole experience was memorable and the highlight of our trip to Milan.

If you have a chance to rent a car and book tickets for the train yourself, it will be much faster and more comfortable. Pluses: 1. Everything was on schedule. 2. Train is NOT with panoramic windows though I was told different after I asked this question directly in advance. Windows are usual, just with open glass. Which in the end appeared a big PLUS. So if to choose between tall dirty panoramic windows and open ones, second is my choice. 3. There is toilet on the bus. I asked for stop on my way there, and they allowed me to use the one on bus. Very dirty. But still it is better than nothing. Minuses: 1. First stop for breakfast was for 15 min. Food was terrible. Advice: take your own sandwiches or bought in advance somewhere else. 2. Trip back by bus was told 2 and a half hours WITHOUT TOILET. Traffic was bad and the road took 3 full hours. Just beware. 3. If you expect to have a guide who will tell you stories about what you see around, it will not happen. Just general info few times and on a couple stops. To prepare us to look to the right side of the windows. Yes, there was a lot of info about lake Como when we were passing by, but that is all. Advice: Take left side on the bus from Milan to St Moritz. Take right side on the train from St Moritz to Tirano. Sit at the window face forward. Or you will miss most of the beauty. —————— So, the tour is ok, who used to travel by bus and does not need much interesting info. But I would not recommend it to my friends.

Our Bernina Train excursion was one of the highlights of our trip. The bus driver did an incredible job navigating the winding mountain roads and hairpin turns with skill and confidence, allowing everyone to relax and enjoy the journey. The Bernina Train ride itself was spectacular. Around every corner was another breathtaking view, with countless postcard-worthy photo opportunities of the mountains, lakes, and alpine scenery. The scenery was simply unforgettable. St. Moritz was charming, elegant, and surprisingly peaceful. Its quiet, upscale atmosphere made for a delightful visit and a perfect complement to the stunning train ride. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

A bit disappointing....

Make sure you sit on the right side of the train. The right side had by far the most views and all of us on the left side missed out on a lot of views. We spent so much of the time on the bus to get to the train, then we had the long trip back to Milan. I was SO looking forward to this, our tour guide was great, and I glad we made it, but I don't ever need to spend that much for that.

The views are breathtaking along the way, both train ride to and bus ride from. Bring phone charger if taking photos with the phone. Bring warm clothes and windbreaker. This is the most beautiful sightseeing tour ever. A must go!

This is an excellent tour! The views are magnificent—totally worth the early-morning start and long bus ride. The Bernina red train is a priceless experience!! Memories for a lifetime! Our trip was well planned and executed from Milan. Our only frustration was the amount of timing in St. Moritz. We barely had time to shop. We definitely did not have time to sit in a restaurant to eat. We grabbed quick market sandwiches, shopped 1 chocolate shop and had to rush back to catch the train. More time in St. Moritz would have been nice. The weather was perfect, however and the blue skies made the photos magnificent!

Long drive with some hairpin turns. Driver drove safely. Got some time in St Moritz. Back on Red train. Views were pretty. If you have been to Switzerland Bernese Oberland, you would have seen these kinds of views before. Be prepared for a long day.
