Well known by its moniker ‘the Little Red Train,’ the Bernina Red Train was designed to climb the Swiss Alps with ease. A testament to engineering work completed more than a century ago, the train is still able to complete the cliff-clinging Bernina Pass on a route that now has UNESCO World Heritage status. Travel from Milan to Switzerland in the morning and relax on your coach journey to St. Moritz, watch the scenery change from windswept gorges and snow-clad glaciers to the chic chalets of St. Moritz. An elegant vacation spot that’s popular for winter sports, St Moritz has a bounty of attractions to keep you busy. Stroll the lake, ogle the snow-specked mountains that ring the town, enjoy lunch or browse the local chocolatiers to sample Swiss chocolate. All food is at your own expense.
After some free time in the town, board the Bernina red train and gaze out of your window as the historic train passes through the idyllic stretches of the Swiss Alps and Northern Italy. Ride along the Bernina Pass to Engadin and over the spiral viaduct of Brusio to Tirano. Hop off the train to enjoy a short break in Tirano before coming back to Milan .

Our guide and bus driver were superb. The drive to St. Moritz was awesome with excellent commentary throughout. The views of Lake Como were spectacular. Angelo and his bus drivers were on point. The explanations in English and Spanish wrre complete without being boring or pedantic. The train trip was filled great photo and video opportunities. This is a trip we wholeheartedly recommend.

I did not get to go. Immediately after I paid I tried to log into my app to get more details on the trip. My app showed "no bookings". I then logged in to the laptop website account. Again "no bookings" I then emailed Viator to let them know that, and that they had charged me twice. No response. No communication from Viator or the tour company ever came until it was too late. I asked for both charges to be refunded but they only refunded the duplicate charge. I had to PROVE to them everything I just stated by provided screenshots, ect. I still do not see that they have refunded either charge on my credit card statement. What a scam. And why do they even deal with loser tour companies in the first place (they are trying to blame it on me and the tour company)?
Not only did I miss this tour, but much of my time and effort has been wasted attempting to clear this matter up. I have used Viator in the past, but seeing that they have no value for the customer I will never do business with them again. I hope you dont either.

Brilliant scenery. On the bus from Milan sit on the left side for a better view of Lake Como. On the red train, sit on the right side of the carriage for the best views, but let folks on the right side of the carriage to photograph the snow and mountains that you can see. Be generous.
Commentary for us was difficult. Two reasons.
Firstly the commentary was in Italian, which I don’t understand , and when it was repeated in English, it seemed like the specific photo opportunity had passed. Actually, very annoying.
Secondly, the guide giving the commentary has/had a throat issue (unfortunately) which meant we couldn’t really understand or comprehend what he was saying. At times he used a portable speaker to expouse what he was saying - even in Italian, and even to one person only. This was unsatisfactory.

We are visiting Milan during the heat wave in June, and it was terribly hot, but we are so THANKFUL to have booked this beautiful excursion to the Swiss alps. It was like a breath of fresh air! Angelo was a kind and informative tour guide. He was attentive to each tourist and gave clear directions. Our bus driver was Massimo. He handled the narrow road and the tight turns going up to the alps masterfully. We were thoroughly impressed. No one got car sick. We would highly recommend this tour to others. :) ciao!

This was a great day. We are noticing with tours on this trip that free time is cut into…
There could be more history, the bus could be cooler, there could be music playing in the bus. It is hard to retain everything with three languages of translation.
Provide water bottles and have more bathroom stops like on the way back too. These things would improve this wonderful experience.

Our tourguide (Simeon) was very informative and funny. He explains very well and speakes English. He also advises when to resdy our phones to get the best shot. Our driver drove safely and with precaution.

Gorgeous views and a once in a lifetime experience. Stopping for lunch in the Alps and to take photos created a lasting memory.
I was expecting a bit more of an intimate experience. The train was extremely cramped, and most of the trip is taken on a bus. I was under the impression we would be on the train a majority of the trip.
We had THE WORST tour guide. He told us he lost his voice, which made my partner and I wonder why he was even working that day. His voice sounded like Froggy from "Little Rascals," if Froggy smoked 50 cigarettes a day then got stuck in a garbage disposal. He also stunk of B.O. Bless his heart, he would point something out on the train ride, and you wanted to gag because of his armpit stetch. He also omitted information and forgot to translate portions.
If I could I would have paid extra for first class.

It was one of the best tour experience I ever had. The schedule was nice, not rushed at all. Ample time was given during the first stop on the way to St. Moritz. Also there was lots of time at St. Moritz to explore before getting on the Red Train. Angelo, the Tour Leader, gave very precise and clear instructions to the whole group. Not a single person was ever late! That made it a pleasant experience! Victor, our bus driver, drove well and kept us safe throughout the whole journey. It was a nice gesture that the tour company booked out a whole carriage for the group. Makes it feel very exclusive.
Overall, a great trip. Thanks again to Angelo and Victor for taking good care of everyone and making the trip memorable!

Guide Angelo was great and so was the bus driver. But the tour does not expressly say that the train will not be THE BERNINA EXPRESS but a local train with smaller windows and opposing seats so close that they would touch knees of the passengers on the opposite side. The entire coach looked and felt like Sardine Express.

Simone (guide) and Chavy (driver) were outstanding! Simone was professional, funny, festive, thorough with directions and translated into multiple languages repeatedly. He added a lot to the day! Chevy is an amazing and safe driver of a coach bus up to St Moritz on twistback turns that did not look possible. Weather shrouded our views but it was a fun day!

Fabulous experience! So easy and everything was handled for us, all we had to do was show up and enjoy the amazing scenery. St Moritz was smaller than I expected and there wasn't much to do so 2 hours was perfect to grab some lunch and walk around a bit before getting on the train. I know the weather can make or break a trip like this. Our weather was amazing. I know you can't predict the weather. It would've been a good trip even if the weather wasn't as good. The mountains were stunning!

The whole day flowed smoothly - it was a long trip, but very worthwhile. A lot of time is spent sitting in transport of course - bus and train. But you see a lot from the windows, and you get to stop off in a couple of places. I'd definitely recommend this as a good way to experience the area.

It's great excursion, kind of lazy no walk excursion - apropx. 6 h in the buses and 2,5 h in Bernina Express train. Views from the train are spectacular, must see it.
