Barbara and Alexa were a great team as bilingual English and Spanish guides. They provided a detailed explanation of the sites. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour which included lunch and tour of the Frida Kalo museum. Great work guys and thanks for the Tequila toast too.

Itinerary

If you've booked the private tour, greet your guide at your Mexico City hotel: Otherwise, make your way to your choice of central meeting point.

Your full-day tour kicks off at Coyoacán, which dates back to pre-Hispanic times. Admire 16th-century mansions along cobblestone streets, and learn about one of Mexico City’s oldest neighborhoods from your informative guide.

If you’ve opted to visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, immerse yourself in the tumultuous life and iconic artwork of this beloved artist with an hour of free time in the museum.

Your Mexico City sightseeing adventure continues at Xochimilco, located 17 miles (28 kilometers) south of Mexico City, a waterway network of floating gardens of flowers. An ecological reserve that holds UNESCO World Heritage status, this valley was a lake during Aztec times. To get around the scarcity of arable soil back then, the people developed chinampas, islands made of floating reed mats.

Spend about an hour drifting peacefully along the canals and admiring the chinampas from your colorful, flat-bottomed trajinera boat. Hear festive music from other boats, occupied by families and visitors celebrating weddings, birthdays, and other happy occasions.

Visit the National Autonomous University of Mexico and check out the Central Campus, a collaboration that came together in 1952 involving more than 60 engineers, architects, and artists, including muralists Diego Rivera and Juan O´Gorman.

Your day finishes at the place where you met your guide.

Tour too long and did not...

John_Y, Mar 2026
Tour too long and did not need to stop at jewelry store to see overpriced stuff. Buffet food was horrible.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear John, thank you for your feedback. Our tours are designed to provide a safe and enjoyable experience, with carefully planned stops and services. We regret that the length of the tour and the buffet did not meet your expectations and appreciate your comments for future improvements. It feels like someone wants to SELL ME SOMETHING!!! (This tour was really long and painful)

Annie_R, Mar 2026
IF I'M BEING HONEST if I could time travel and tell myself not to book this tour I would do so. The tour started off with 2 extra stops that were not on the itinerary - one was a silver shop (?) that was out of the way of everything advertised, and the other was San Angel which was beautiful but definitely added to how long the tour was overall. In total we spent almost 4 hours driving around, and while traffic can't be helped the extra stops made it extra painful. Xochilmco was beautiful but kind of stressful for me because every 2 seconds another boat was pulling up trying to sell us stuff. I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't so tired from the rest of the tour. We can't speak to the museum experience because I accidentally bought the tickets opting out of the museum when trying to opt out of the lunch, so make sure to read the ticket descriptions well lol

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear Annie, thank you for sharing your experience. Our tours are designed to provide a high-quality, safe, and enjoyable experience, with experienced guides providing information at each site. We regret that the length of the tour and extra stops affected your experience and appreciate your feedback for future improvements. Best Regards from the Quality Department of Amigo Tours- Claudia

Ciudad Universidad, Xochimilko, Lunch, and FK Museum

smbhakta, Mar 2026
Mariam, Hector, and Antonio were great. We enjoyed the tour but my 9 and 10 year old were a little restless because traffic was awful. We did the tour on a Thursday and spent more time in traffic than actual visit times at each of the sites. Remember to carry change in pesos with you. At Xochimilko, you will need 5 pesos per a person to use the restrooms. Not all vendors have change, make sure you carry smaller bills in pesos.

Misleading Itinerary, but not bad

Rory_R, Mar 2026
The itinerary was very different from what was advertised, and the tour was much longer than I and others anticipated. Don’t make plans for after the tour until it ends. That said, it wasn’t bad.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear traveler, thank you for your feedback. All tour details and itineraries are shared clearly before booking, and we recommend reviewing them carefully to help plan your day. We’re glad to hear that, despite the timing, your overall experience was not negative. We hope you keep good memories of the tour. Best Regards from the Quality Department of Amigo tours- claudia

Not do again

Vandana_G, Mar 2026
The places included in this tour are wonderful, but there were several issues that future travelers should be aware of. First, the tour duration listed on the website is misleading. It says the tour lasts about 9 hours, but in reality it took almost 12 hours due to traffic and scheduling. That is a big difference, and it would help travelers plan better if the company communicated a more realistic timeframe. Second, the guide’s English was quite difficult to understand. The guide seemed knowledgeable and friendly, but the explanations were hard to follow, which made it challenging to fully appreciate the historical and cultural information during the tour. Third, we specifically purchased tickets for the Frida Kahlo Blue House Museum (Casa Azul), but instead we were taken to the Red House. Since the Blue House was one of the main reasons we booked this tour, this substitution was disappointing and should have been communicated clearly beforehand. Another important issue is that if you book only the Xochimilco boat ride option, you are still required to stay with the group for the entire tour. This means spending roughly 12 hours on the tour even if you only wanted the boat portion, which is not clearly explained in the booking details. The destinations themselves—Xochimilco, Coyoacán, and the Frida Kahlo area—are beautiful and worth visiting, but clearer communication and better organization would make the experience much better.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear traveler, thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We appreciate your observations about timing, language clarity, and museum visits. All tour details, including itinerary and included stops, are provided clearly before booking, and we recommend reviewing them carefully to ensure the best experience. We value your comments and hope you keep positive memories of the destinations visited. Best Regards from the Quality Department of Amigo tours- Claudia

It’s a very long day!

Birgit_R, Mar 2026
If you are not going to the Frida Kahla museum you have a lot of free time on your hands. The boat tour is nothing more than painted boats on a crowded canal.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear guest, thank you for sharing your feedback. We are a serious and responsible company, and all tour details, including stops and activities, are clearly specified before booking. We regret that the experience did not meet your expectations and will take your comments into account to improve future tours. Best Regards from the Quality Department of Amigo Tours- Claudia

Too many people trying to sell you something.

Pearl_C, Mar 2026
The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the place which I appreciate. However the boat tour was only one hour but my gosh we were bombarded with people on boats trying to sell you something, if it's not the alcohol which the same person kept trying to sell evey 5 minutes, it's the mariachi band. If it's not them, then a guy with a hawk trying to sell you chances to hold the hawk for pictures. If its not the hawk guy, then its people trying to sell you souvenirs. If it's not a souvenir then someone with flower bands. Everyone asks for tips. You're just a gringo wallet to them. It was too much to the point you don't enjoy the scenery at all. I get you have to make a living but it was crazy.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear Pearl, thank you for sharing your feedback. The individuals you mention are completely unrelated to our company. Amazing tour!

Alma_S, Mar 2026
Berenice, Elezar, and Norberto were phenomenal!! Unfortunate we didn’t get tickets to the blue house how the original booking was for but we ended up going to the red house but honestly this team made the entire experience amazing that the minor inconvenience wasn’t even an issue at all.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear Alma, thank you for sharing your feedback. We are delighted to hear that Berenice, Elezar, and Norberto made the experience enjoyable and memorable, even with the change in the visit. We truly appreciate your kind words. Best Regards from the Quality Department of amigo tours- claudia

Not as fun and interesting as we had expected.

LeahVictoria_B, Feb 2026
The guide was very knowledgeable and told great historifcal stories while we drove along in the bus which we thoroughly enjoyed. Coyoacan was fun but way too commercialized. There was no history lesson about the people living along the canal and how they survived and made a living. The main focus was buying drinks and food from the passing boats while not bumping into the many other boats on the canal, paying for a Marachi band to play one song and drinking with the other travellers. There were no tickets available for the Frieda Museum so we only did the first two things. There was no option for us to go back to our hotel so we had to go to the restaurant but we didn't want to eat there. Then we were supposed to wait several hours until the group was finished eating and going to the museum. We opted to leave the group and go back to our hotel on our own.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear Leah, thank you for sharing your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed the guide’s historical explanations. We are a serious and responsible company, and all tour details, including stops and tickets, are clearly specified before booking. We regret that the experience did not fully meet your expectations and appreciate your comments to improve future tours. Best Regards from the Quality Department of Amigo Tours- Claudia

Hector wasnt a great tour...

Kierra_J, Feb 2026
Hector wasnt a great tour guide. He left me and 6 other people. We had to uber to the location to catch up with the group. We ended up with another group hosted by barbie. She was very helpful and went out of her way to make up for the inconcience while everyone else dismissed us 8 people who got left. The bus on the way back broke down and barbie even got us an uber because the company said it would take an hour to send another. Barbie was amazing everyone else were terribly unproffesional.

Best Tour Guides (Gio 5 stars)

Gio and Miriam are wonderful guides. They share their knowledge and love of Mexico City in an infectious way. All of the stops were fun and gave my daughter and I a deeper appreciation for all that Mexico City has to offer.

Xochimilco, Coyoacan and Frida Kahlo Fun Times

Rafael_V, Feb 2026
Worthwhile. The boat ride in Xochimilco was fun and good to say that you did it. The tour of the university, Coyoacan, and the Blue House were awesome. Each one interesting in their own way, yet worth the visit. The tour guides Jerson and Ermilindo (not sure of the spellings) were great. Both were very entertaining as well as informative about the what we were seeing and doing. We opted for for the lunch as part of the tour. The food was very good and excellent service. Highly recommend!

Disappointed

Bridget_Q, Feb 2026
Our bus broke down. We were pressured to buy the extra lunch and it was not very good. If we got the buffet directly from the restaurant it would have been half the cost. The tickets to the Frida kahlo museum were sold out. We were left to walk around coyacan without much guidance. It would have been better if there was a guide for coyacan.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear Bridget, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We regret the inconvenience you experienced, as this is not usual in our company. We always strive to provide reliable transportation and high-quality services to ensure the best possible experience for our guests. Wonderful experience

Michelle_M, Feb 2026
My experience was wonderful! Our tour guide Fer was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. We learned so much about Frida, about the university, about Xochimilco and Coyoacan! I would definitely love to book this trip again!!

Amazing places, mixed tour.

James_B, Feb 2026
Pros: - boat trip in Xochimilco was excellent - Coyoacán and Friday Kahlo great - University stop surprisingly interesting Cons: - order of stops dependent on Frida Kahlo tickets which guides purchase on the day. Our time was 16:30 so meant tour finished late. - stop to the silver workshop was classic tourist trap and seemed to be in the wrong direction from the rest of the stops. - traffic in Mexico City is ridiculous. Got stuck which meant lunch stop was at 16:10 (and then hugely rushed to get to Frida Kahlo). Lunch itself was okay. Overall the places are well worth visiting but be prepared for a long time on the bus and a long day.

Lots of fun and variety.

Vik_A, Feb 2026
This tour exceeded my expectations. I don't enjoy having to listen to a guide drone out a memorized speech, and this wasn't that experience. We enjoyed most of the activities that were included, though I wish we could have spent more time in the area surrounding Frida Kahlo's Blue House. The churros near there are amazing. The visit to Frida's house was transformative and since all the tickets were bought up, it was the only way we could get entry that day. Be warned! If you request songs on the Xochimilco boat ride, make sure you have plenty of cash to tip them and/or buy any food or drinks from the other vendors.

Great Tour & Guide — Skip the Optional Lunch

Juan_S, Feb 2026
We booked the Xochimilco, Coyoacán and Frida Kahlo Museum with Optional Lunch tour, and overall it was an amazing experience. We chose the Spanish tour, and our guide was wonderful, friendly, informative, and organized throughout the day. The itinerary was well-paced, and we had ample time at each stop to explore, browse, and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. My only recommendation: skip the optional lunch. The food was buffet-style and bland, and although meals are listed as included, that only covers the food, any beverages cost extra. There are many better restaurant options nearby, so opting out of lunch is worth it.

Too much driving and waiting.

ScottGoode, Feb 2026
A lot of driving. A lot of sittting around with hurry up and wait. Our guide was great. However, that cant make up for the unimaginative and banal tour. Lunch was tasteless and bland, and the tour could have skipped the first two stops (silver store and university) to allow more time to explore Coyoacán and time on the boat at Xochimilco. The advertisement of the 9 hour tour led us to believe that our boat ride would be more than an hour. And, do yourself a favor, skip the tastless buffet lunch and eat in the market instead.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Dear Scott, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We truly appreciate your comments and are pleased to know that you valued the work of your guide. We regret that certain aspects of the itinerary and meal did not meet your expectations. Your observations regarding timing, stops, and overall experience will help us improve the balance and organization of the tour.Your input is very important to us, and we hope to provide you with a more fulfilling experience in the future. Emanuel was very knowledgeable and friendly! Make sure to take that tour once you are in Mexico city.

A Good Long Day

Christi_B, Feb 2026
This was an easy, yet long day, not because of anyone's fault, but traffic in Mexico City is just a reality. From the very north to the very south of the city, will take 2 hours, so just gotninto knowing you will be spending a fair amount of time on nice charter busses. This is also a very larger group adventure, but they guide split into English and Spanish groups. We wished we could have done Casa Azul 1st, then lunch, and then Xochimilco Canals, but with how traffic works and all the things included in this tour, going to the Canals 1st made sense. There needs to be a better lunch option, it was a buffet and we didnt like a lot of the food options, but Barbara was a very informative and kind guide. The University was a good surprise for us, we liked the arts murals and seeing the Olympic stadium from 1968. We also liked free time to wall around Coyoocan in the park and markets.

Simply the BEST

JOHN_H, Feb 2026
What makes this tour great? Its our guide ALLAN... he assures are safety and his knowledge is excellent... Amigo company is lucky to have this guy...

10 hours, 3-4 activities, over half on bus.

MaryKay_S, Feb 2026
Our guide, Barbie was great. I would do most of the attractions again, but maybe not all at once, as there was a Kahlo museum (<1 hr), lunch and market would do again. UNAM Central Library and murals were very interesting, but I understand the inside is fabulosity, too, so I’d want to spend more time there. I’d do most of it again, but more than half of the ten hours was spent on the bus, due to Mexico City traffic. The boat canal is very crowded. It was fun, but I’m not sure I’d do that again.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Dear Mary, Thank you for sharing your experience. We'd like to mention all tour details are clearly specified prior to booking in order to ensure the best experience for our customers. Your suggestions will help us improve future experiences Best Regards from the Quality Department of Amigo Tours- Claudia

An enjoyable, but long day

Sally_M, Feb 2026
An enjoyable day. Guide David was great - experienced, knowledgeable, and capable of looking after a large group. The boats were a fun experience. Lunch was good, and Frida Kahlo house visit was great. It was a long day, and an hour longer than expected. The university visit was so-so, with a bit too much free time late in the day.

Really fun and amazing...

Lauren_D, Feb 2026
Really fun and amazing experience with David. He’s funny and knowledgeable and gives a lot of background and history. Highly recommend checking it out. Bring water and comfy shoes.

Awesome

Richard_I, Feb 2026
Great experience the staff was great. Everything was enjoyable. The boat ride was excellent. The museum upgrades were definitely worth it.

Worth the time and money!

MariLiis_H, Feb 2026
Great tour, definitely worth your time. It takes you away from the city center and I wouldn't say it's something you'd do by yourself as it's quite a distance. All the visited spots were interested, everything was well organized, there was enough time to look around by yourself. Our guide was Sal who was really great!

Will organised professional trip
