Itinerary
Travel with your guide from Mexico City to Teotihuacan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site also known as the City of Gods.
If you’ve opted for an early departure, you’ll arrive soon after the site opens to minimize crowds—and if you’ve booked the private option, your guide will collect you from your accommodation, enabling you to lie in that little bit longer.
Neither Maya nor Aztec, Teotihuacan was once the largest city in Mexico, supporting a population of around 100,000.
With your guide, wander through plazas, discover the pyramids, and capture photos of structures like the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, also known as the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, as well as the Palace of Quetzalpapalotl.
Gain special insight into the complex’s intricate murals and architectural nuances. Hear about the latest archaeological discoveries and theories about the city’s origin and decline.
From the top, enjoy your bird’s-eye vantage point of the Avenue of the Dead, the primary road that runs through the center of the city.
You’ll stop at a local restaurant for a traditional Mexican meal (at your own expense), before returning to the central meeting point—or your accommodation if you booked the private tour.

I loved this tour!! Our guide Antonio was very informative and the tour was great! He really knows his stuff! He guides you and also gives you free time in between each section. I recommend this tour to everyone! The other guide Herson was awsome too! Super funny guy! They took us to try pulque and tequila which was awsome and the place we stopped for lunch was super yummy! Would rate this tour with them a 10/10!

Alex the guide is great! Very knowledgeable, super friendly, passionate and willing to share every information and curiosity he had about the pyramids and the history behind them. Could not complain about him!
We only had an issue with the organization of the tour because we didn’t book the lunch as it was listed as “optional”. However after the pyramids tour, you are all forced to go to this tequila artisanal hub and then to the restaurant with all the other guests who paid for lunch. So you really have nothing to do as an alternative to lunch. We thought it was pretty unfair because it basically forces you to either eat there or to stay put in a super isolated place with nothing else to do. That’s why we took an uber back to CDMX, which we obviously had to pay on top of the tour.
Also finally, the tour ends with hiking the pyramid of the moon (at around 11.30/12) when it’s still super hot and crowded. Since you arrive at the site at 8/8.15 when it’s still very chilly outside and empty, why don’t start the tour there, at the pyramid of the moon (entrance 3), and walk your way back to entrance 1 like many people do?

The guide was very well-intentioned, but not a great English speaker or story teller. So the "guide" part was more about showing us around and providing transport than educating us about the pyramids.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Dear Francesca_S,
We appreciate your comments regarding the guide’s pace while speaking English and will certainly take this into account to continue improving the clarity of our explanations We truly value your feedback and hope to welcome you again on one of our tours.
Kind regards from Amigo Tours.

It was OK.
Pros: The pyramids are incredible and the tour was somewhat informative, although information is anecdotal and it was a bit hard to understand the guide. The obsidian tour was interesting.
Cons: Lots of waiting around. On the bus, between stops, etc. The lunch and tequila tasting + shopping was unnecessary and a tourist trap. Not the tour’s fault, but the restaurant forgot our food order and we could not get the attention of a single server after asking 5+ people. After awhile we just paid for our drinks and left, which was probably a blessing since most people said the food was bad anyway. Tough to eat subpar food onsite when CDMX has so much good food to offer. The shopping was fine but after 6 hours you’re just ready to get back to the city.
Summary: interesting but too long and unnecessary add-on stops. Would be great if they offered a 4 hour tour which was just a visit to the pyramids.

The pyramids are indeed unique but our guide did not seem to know much about the history or background at all. The tour was also a mix of english and spanish together and all his explanations were a bit longer in spanish and only a sentence in english. validating facts after the tour, we found he even gave wrong info. Also stopped at a lunch place where the tour had mentioned we’ll be allowed to choose from a buffet if we want but pushed us into another place with clearly a commission set up. Last, and not most important, but the bus wasn’t the most comfortable seats either. Do not recommend this tour but the place it surely worth the visit

Great experience! Make sure to pack good walking shoes, sunscreen, and a hat because very little shade!

It was fantastic - Alan was a really great tour guide, the food and experience was memorable and totally worth the early morning.
Oliver_X, Nov 2025
The tour is for a large group, but our guide, Alan, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Teotihuacan and its history, which made the tour much more engaging. I learned so much throughout the experience. I highly recommend the early access, as it gets very crowded later in the day.
Response from Host, Nov 2025

We had a great experience! Our tour guide Alan was knowledgeable, we learned a lot on our tour and enjoyed the lunch.
Christine_T, Oct 2025
Highly recommend this with the early start. Its well worth it when you see the bus loads of people arriving as you leave.
If anything, even earlier is better because it can get really hot. The guide was okay. Note that afterwards you are taken to tequila & mescal tasting and where you can buy souvenir, the vendors are nice and not too pushy. So glad i went.
Response from Host, Oct 2025

Visiting such an amazing archeological site like Teotihuacan was breathtaking, but our tour guide, Lily, made it 100x better! She was super knowledgeable, passionate about the history of Teotihuacan and Mexico, and was very kind. We did the early tour and were done by 3pm. It was great!
Response from Host, Oct 2025

This company seems to be a scam. We got the designated pickup location 10 minutes early and waited 20 minutes but no one showed up. Called the number they listed, but it was disconnected.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Dear Norman_Y,
We are very sorry for the impression you had. We would like to clarify that our team was present at the designated meeting point, and the tour departed as scheduled. Sometimes, locating the guide can be challenging due to the number of people in the area, but our guides always carry clear identification. R We regret the inconvenience and thank you for your feedback, which helps us improve.
Best regards,
Ramos

Alan our tour guide was amazing. He was very kind funny and knowledgeable and he gave great explanations, switching seamlessly between Spanish and english. The first part of the tour where we were on the site was great. The only negative aspect is I didn't like that everyone was forced to go eat at the same restaurant afterwards and do shopping. It was fine but I would have preferred to just go right back to CDMX. I had even packed a lunch but we felt pressured to eat at the restaurant instead of having the option to just go eat our packed lunch. So that aspect wasn't for me but I think it would be fun for other people. Personally I'd prefer just the tour, and then I can get Mexican food when I'm back in the city instead of having it be part of the tour. Same story with the gift shop. But I also understand people need to make their living so not a bit deal. As a whole a positive experience, and again our tour guide Alan was amazing. He did a wonderful and impressive job

Everyone was kind and helpful. The bus ride was comfortable. The food after was pretty ok too. Once getting to the site I would ask for your ticket. We decided to use the bathroom at gate 2 and they wouldn’t let us in because we didn’t have the site ticket. So make sure and get that. We had to buy another one to get back in. I would also suggest that starting early at the moon pyramid would make more sense. By the time we got there it was crowded. These are just my ideas but still I enjoyed it.

We had an incredible time learning about pre-aztec culture. The monuments were stunning and we were so grateful to be able to climb the pyramid of the moon. Our tour guide Ligia was incredible knowledgeable and also took us to eat great local food on request. (The tour company automatically sets you up with a pretty touristy restaurant and we weren't into that so we requested more local food and she made it happen! Right up the street!)
David_A, Jul 2025
Was a great day. I think we were the first ones on the site, amazing photos. Lili the guide did a perfect job of giving us plenty of interesting information but balancing that with time to explore. Best day in Mexico so far.
Jeremy_D, Jul 2025
We had a wonderful experience on this tour! Gio was a great tour guide! She was so knowledgeable and even showed us pictures from a book with artist renderings of what the site would have looked like in the past. We highly recommend!
josephinekimlee, Jul 2025
Francisco was our guide, and while he was nice enough, he sounded pretty rehearsed throughout our (very) long tour. His accent also made it difficult to understand him, unfortunately. There was another, more dynamic and funnier guide on our bus, and we were all pretty surprised when he was assigned to the Spanish speakers (only ~5 people) in our group, and we were assigned to Francisco.
The tour itself was fine, but you probably could just Wikipedia the info yourself and then self-guide. It would probably save 1-2 hrs of crawling up and down those grassy terraces between Door 1 and 2 in the baking hot sun.
The lunch restaurant was terrible with overpriced food and mediocre quality. Everyone in our friend group got food poisoning afterward. The mezcal/souvenir stand they took us to next door afterward was guided by another bored, rehearsed person and then we were "encouraged" to browse all the agave / obsidian / other tacky souvenirs being sold there.
All in all, not a great tour. But can't complain about the price.

Great experience if you want to be guided from beginning to end. Great opportunity to meet others. Beautiful day of the pyramids.
Our guide Francisco was super knowledgeable, entertaining, friendly, and patient. We debated whether to go and we are so thankful we did.

Wear comfortable shoes if you wanna climb the pyramids as the stairs are quite steep. Nice view on top of the pyramids.

Shuttle was on time in picking us up. It was hot in the shuttle even though there seemed to be AC. Guide “Francisco” spoke in English and Spanish but I found him difficult to understand in both language. He spoke too fast and not clearly. Otherwise, he was nice and seemed thorough in explaining. I didn’t like the part where he took us to a tourist trap, and offered a few rounds of alcohol shots.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Dear maja,
Thank you so much for your feedback, we're going to check this situation with Francisco. We'll be working on it to improve your experience on your next adventure.
We will continue to strive to exceed your expectations and achieve a higher rating.

Amazing tour! Antonio was extremely informative and very kind. Enjoyed the history that was taught to us about the pyramids as well as the restaurant stop at the end
Samuel_H, May 2025
Fantastic Experience!! Hector explained things so well and really helped our group gain a better understanding of pre-Hispanic cultures and how the temples were a piece of that history! Highly recommend for anyone and everyone!
Kevin_Q, May 2025
We had a great guide named Alex who brought a lot of energy and knowledge making the excursion a lot of fun. If the day had ended here I would have come away quite happy.
Where things went wrong was being stuck in a tourist trap of a restaurant nearby Teotihuacan for lunch for over an hour and a half. “Lunch” felt too long, prices were outrageous, and performers (that no one asked for or expected) dressed in “traditional garb” made the experience feel inauthentic and tacky. The wait staff we had was a little aggressive with tips as well which left a bad impression. He seemed disappointed we ordered so little and specifically asked to be tipped in cash instead of credit card.
Usually most tour groups do a head count before leaving a site, they almost drove off and left someone behind; in which we had to stop the driver.
Overall a good experience partially ruined by an overbearing lunch experience and a bit of negligence
Response from Host, May 2025

The tour is ok but I didn’t like that it tells me the meeting time is 6:20 when other people booked at different places had a meeting time of 6:50. In the end we didn’t leave until 7:15. I woke up super early for nothing and I find that unfair.
Adriane_C, Apr 2025
Antonio was the best guide ever! Super kind, thoughtful and showed a great knowledge about the place. 10/10 recomended expirience!
