The full day tour of Puebla was long but my husband and I were comfortable in the van, and in the places we visited. Oscar was full of information to share and the use of the portable audio device was a positive. Oscar was very professional, knowledgeable and we appreciate his narrative of this UNESCO city- the colonial architecture and beautiful churches. Amazing experience.

Restaurant in Puebla awful

Kastytis_S, Mar 2026
trip was ok, but one thing was very bad, restaurant option in puebla was very bad, food there just bad, no other way to describe it and guide never advised that we will have an hour free time later in town squire with plenty of restaurant options

It is a very long day but worth it. Really enjoyed the free time in Puebla it is a beautiful place. I wish the guide did speak slower as I know I missed some information.

Lovely day

David_m, Mar 2026
A lovely day . Ive done this trip before. But this time it eas in reverse, starting in puebla . No issues with this as it was quieter making the markets more comfortable to move around . Alexa was a great guide . I learned new things through the entire trip . She really has passion .

Worth it for Tonantzintla church

Valerie_C, Mar 2026
This was a long day. Two things made it worthwhile: the views of Popocapetl steaming away, closer than you can see it in the city, and the truly spectacular church in the Tonantzintla neighborhood of Cholula. I've seen a lot of churches in South America, but this is the most amazing and the most interesting. Photos don't do it justice, so the few you will find on the internet will not show you. Bring binoculars. Had a wonderful lunch at Los Vampiros Empatedados in Puebla---this was off-tour---and visited the tiny but interesting university museum nearby in my free time. The tour itself was a bit of a slog--too much traffic, too much hot sun, too little food (we started at 6am and lunch was at 2:30!), not a lot of info.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear Valerie, thank you for sharing your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed the views of Popocatépetl and the church in Tonantzintla. We are a serious and responsible company, and all tour details, including schedule and stops, are clearly specified before booking. We regret that parts of the experience felt challenging and will take your comments into account to improve future tours. Best Regards from the Quality Department of Amigo Tours- Claudia

A must see and the most beautiful churches I have seen and Puebla is a quaint town. Javier is awesome and very informative.

Perfect day trip from...

Robert_O, Feb 2026
Perfect day trip from CDMX to experience the historically important archaeological site of Cholula, view the Popcatepetl and Ixtaccihuatl volcanos on the horizon (Popo is still active and smoking!), and take a walking trip through the colorful architecture of Puebla. Our tour guide, Ara, was very knowledgeable and provided insight into the cultural mix that has shaped the region. The bus was comfortable-try to get a seat toward the front for best visibility. I’d recommending branching off for the lunch portion. Puebla is famous for mole and we had a great sampling of various types at Mural de los Poblanos a few blocks away. Be prepared to walk-we clocked over 6 miles over the course of the day but there was so much to see we hardly noticed it. There is the opportunity to shop for authentic Talavera pottery in Puebla, look at the bottom of each piece for the signature of the artist. Great tour!

Excellent tour with Ara....

Stephen_R, Feb 2026
Excellent tour with Ara. She was very insightful and kept the group engaged. Great locations with a lot of historical background. Timely rest breaks and the right amount of free time. Highly recommend. The only downside people who are prone to car sickness should know, the tour bus ride was quite fast and bumpy. Request a seat upfront if you are sensitive to motion sickness. Great tour.

The itinerary itself is...

Rachel_L, Feb 2026
The itinerary itself is outstanding and focuses on places that truly deserve more attention. Cholula was mind-blowing - standing on the largest pyramid base in the world is something photos don’t do justice to. Puebla was a total delight: beautiful streets, rich history, and we even stumbled upon a parade, which made the visit feel extra special. The Chapel of the Rosary Capilla del Rosario inside the Templo de Santo Domingo is absolutely stunning and a must-see. Santa María Tonantzintla was on another level entirely. The church is unbelievably beautiful, and Álvaro’s commentary added so much depth and meaning that it became one of the most memorable moments of the trip.

Our guide was so cool and nice. I loved the places we visited and felt in love with Puebla. The food was amazing (I highly recommend chiles en nogada and pollo en mole poblano).

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Dear LuisDiego_P, Thank you sincerely for sharing such a heartfelt and positive review. We’re delighted to hear that the experience felt unforgettable and that the places you visited made such a strong impression on you. Puebla, with its architecture, history, and culinary richness, has a way of capturing hearts, and it’s wonderful to know you felt that connection so strongly. We’re particularly happy that your guide made the day enjoyable. A guide who combines knowledge with kindness and a relaxed, friendly attitude can make all the difference when exploring cities with such depth and personality. Your comments about the food truly made us smile. Both chiles en nogada and mole poblano are emblematic dishes of the region, and your enthusiastic recommendation highlights exactly why this part of Mexico is so beloved for its cuisine. Thank you again for taking the time to write your impressions. We’re thrilled that you enjoyed the journey so much. Kind regards, Ramos, Quality Team

Omar was a great guide,...

Karina_A, Dec 2025
Omar was a great guide, he explained things throughly and was very friendly, the only thing that wasn’t the best was the lunch I would eat elsewhere, but everything else was great.

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Dear Karina_A, Thank you sincerely for taking the time to share your thoughts about your day. It means a great deal to us to hear that your experience was overwhelmingly positive and that you enjoyed the warmth, clarity and friendliness that Omar brings to each group. We’re delighted to know that you felt well guided and well informed throughout the day. Omar takes pride in explaining cultural, historical and logistical details thoroughly, and knowing that his approach made your experience smooth and enjoyable is a beautiful recognition of his dedication. At the same time, we truly appreciate you mentioning that the lunch did not meet your expectations. Honest feedback like this is very valuable, as it allows us to continue strengthening our coordination with local providers. Food is an important part of any travel experience, and your perspective helps us understand how we can improve. It means a lot that, despite this detail, you still found everything else great and felt comfortable recommending the experience. Thank you again for your balanced and thoughtful comments — they help us continue to grow while celebrating what went well. Kind regards, Ramos, Quality Team

AMIGO Tours MUST change the LUNCH offering spot.

Gopinath_P, Dec 2025
Amigo Tours has to change the food spot. I had a horrible experience with the place they had arranged. First the fish came under cooked and when I informed they redid and gave me a burnt fish which is awful.I had to complain again and they brought me the 3rd time.Amigo tours skipped many lunch spots and took to area where there were no other options late in day.Instead they can finish lunch and take for walk around. This trip has lot of walking uphill and crossing roads.Plan and prepare with walking shoes. Tour guide and drive was ok.Its 2-3 hours drive each way.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Dear Gopinath_P, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are very sorry to hear about your experience at the lunch stop during your tour. The quality of the meal you described is unacceptable, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and discomfort this caused. We will immediately review the situation with our restaurant partner to ensure that food is prepared safely and consistently, and to evaluate whether a change of location is necessary. We also appreciate you pointing out the timing of the lunch and the limited options available in the area. Your comments help us better understand how we can improve route planning so our guests have a more comfortable and flexible experience. We are glad to hear that you found the guide and driver satisfactory, and we appreciate your helpful note about the physical activity involved in the tour. Best regards from Amigo Tours. -Judy.

Great Sites, Guide Needs More Historical/Cultural Depth

Patricia_A, Dec 2025
This day trip to Puebla offered an efficient and comprehensive way to visit multiple significant Catholic historic sites in the region. The Amigo Tour company expertly managed the transportation and local logistics, which is crucial for covering this many locations in a single day. My only critique relates to the guiding style: the explanations were predominantly a secular tour, focusing mainly on architecture and basic facts. The experience would be significantly enhanced if the guide were trained to provide a more thorough Historical/Cultural Interpretation of the sites' importance beyond their religious function. The tour was effectively conducted in both Spanish and English.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Dear Patricia_A, It's an honor to have shared this unforgettable experience with you. We're glad you enjoyed it. We look forward to seeing you on the next adventure. Best regards from Amigo Tours. -Judy.

Lonely at lunch

William_F, Dec 2025
Very good ,Alex the guide was great. The pyramid was different and exotic not like all the others. The walk around Pueblo was interesting but don’t miss the cathedral. It’s wonderful and the best cathedral I’ve been to in the americas and frankly rivals if not surpasses the many I’ve been to in Europe. I was the only one in my group to sign up for lunch. The others made a mistake. The mole sauce was exceptional.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Dear William_F, Thank you so much for your review, your opinion is really important for us. It´s always a pleasure to assist you. Best regards from Amigo Tours. -Judy.

Puebla day trip

Amazing tour with amazing tour guide!

Julia_D, Nov 2025
This was the best tour I have went on in Mexico City for sure. Puebla was a beautiful state filled with history and culture. The bus was comfortable and we didn’t feel rushed at all. Omar, the tour guide, was absolutely amazing. He explained the history so well, you can tell he is very passionate about it. He went above and beyond in making sure we were getting good information and staying together as a group, but having a good amount of free time as well. It was unforgettable!

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Dear Julia_D Thank you so much for your feedback, our entire team is delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your experience with our guide. We hope to have the opportunity to see you again. Warm regards from Amigo Tours. -Alma

4.5 out of 5. Preorder lunch is regrettable.

viatorkim, Nov 2025
Its alright to get a day trip from mexico city. Only one thing is the preorder lunch. You better get the lunch for your own selection at the location. The guider is excellent and knowledgable.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Dear viatorkim We are happy to know that overall, you had a good experience. Thanks for taking the time to let us know your suggestions, we sincerely appreciate them and will consider for future improvement. Kind regards from Amigo tours -Alma

Nice day trip to Cholula and Puebla

Alex_A, Nov 2025
I enjoyed this day tour to Cholula and Puebla. The first Cholula church was beautiful and had an amazing view, and the historical centre of Puebla was beautiful too. My criticisms are that the second stop wasn’t particularly interesting (another church, in Cholula), the restaurant in Puebla wasn’t very good and even though we were asked to select our lunch in the morning the restaurant didn’t know who ordered what when we got there. I think the tour would be improved by removing the second stop so the first and third stop are less rushed. I would rather have had more time to eat or look at stores in Cholula and Puebla than to go to the second stop. My advice for anyone who does this tour is to skip the lunch option and eat where you want in Puebla. I found a street vendor selling basket tacos which were much better than the restaurant we were brought to. It was a long day and there could be some improvements, but I enjoyed it and recommend it to others.

Charming towns great for history, photo ops and families

Araceli_S, Nov 2025
Rodrigo was our tour guide and was amazing and knowledgeable about every area we visited. The experience is exactly as described. We visited the pyramid base which has the church sitting on top of it. We visited another church in Cholula and then went on to visit Puebla and learn about its history. It was beautiful scenery and well worth it for a family of 5 which included 4 adults and one 17 year old who remained entertained as well. Something to note: it’s a lot of walking so go comfy over style, ride was about 2.5 hours out from Mexico City, and the first church you visit on top of the pyramid base is up a rather steep hill made of cobble stone and stairs. I highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes. Tour was taken place via charter bus with a bathroom that was for emergencies only. Only thing I would change is giving the guests more time to take photos as our group was large and with everyone trying to take pics and trying to keep the tour on schedule, the time given to take pics was tight. Other than that, absolutely beautiful towns to visit!

Puebla & Chalula

Emerita_F, Nov 2025
It was excellent! Our guide (Rodrigo)was exceptionally knowledgeable in the history of the sites (as well as Nahuatl language and culture). Super-inspiring. Mastered his bilingual tour excellently !!great pace!!puebla

Enjoyable and informative tour with Rodrigo

Marvin_S, Nov 2025
Rodrigo is an excellent tour guide and translates fluently in English. We visited lots of places in one day! Highly recommended.

Puebla is a must see!

Anonymous, Oct 2025
Bernie was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable, friendly. Great to give us instructions in English and Spanish. Puebla was my favorite part I would like more time to explore the city.

Disappointing experience

Abdul_A, Oct 2025
We had a nice day overall. The tour guide worked really hard to explain everything and was open and welcoming but i still wouldnt reccomend this trip to others. The churches and the temples were nice to see and interesting to learn about, however this was in no way balanced with the amount of time spent in the van getting from place to place which was the vast majority of the day. We were also told lunch was included and paid for lunch to be included. The lunch they served was the worst meal i have had over my entire trip in mexico. If you take this trip opt out of lunch. We were also told drinks including soft drinks werent included in the price and so had to pay separately. The waiter then added on a nice tip for himself to our bill for "service" of our free meal. For such a nice group of people doing the tour they are badly let down by the organisation of it and the restaurant they have chosen to affiliate themselves with.

Big thank you Alvaro and Rodolfo. You guys are awesome

Martha_E, Oct 2025
Our tour guide Alvaro and driver Rodolfo made the trip a great experience. We had time to explore and enjoy Puebla like I don’t think we would have without them.

Mainly churches, full day and not safe drop off

Aziza_L, Oct 2025
The day was well planned and our guide Liliy was knowledgeable, however I didn't get to really know more than the sights. We also were dropped off at the end, in the dark, on the side of a main road, at a park and kind of told "Now find your way to wherever you are going". Also to note, the main attractions of the tour are churches, so if that is what you are looking for, that's what you'll get. It was interesting but I expected a bit more.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Dear Aziza_L, Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the day's planning and the guide's knowledge. Regarding the end of the tour, our drop-offs are always at official and safe locations. For example, at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, although we can’t park directly in front of the building, we always drop off guests at Alameda Central, which is very close, well-lit, and safe. We understand that churches are a key part of this tour, but we’ll take your feedback into account to offer a more varied experience in the future. Thank you again, and we hope to provide you with a better experience next time. Kind regards of Amigo Tours Quality Team -Alma
