We had a great experience, hosted by Danny. The pools were beautiful as well as the caves and river. The scenery felt like something out of a movie. We also got to learn about the beautiful history of Mexico and the Natives of Mexico. Cannot recommend this enough! Danny was energetic, friendly, and personable. 10/10 trip.

Great full day experience for those looking to experience Tolantongo without staying overnight. Our guide Adrian and driver Chacha were super friendly and welcoming. They also provided all the necessities required for the day so it’s convenient. The water was beautiful and the cave adventure was the highlight! It’s a very early start with a long drive, but we really enjoyed it.

We had a great experience on our trip. Our guided, Danny, and driver, Nico, were both so friendly and kind! Danny was very knowledgeable of the area and was able to answer any of the group’s questions. The included breakfast and snacks were great. We bought the package that included lunch and were very pleased with the options. The hot springs, cave, and tunnel were all beautiful. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

It’s a very well planned and awesome experience!!! time was very well allocated and spent :) I’d strongly recommend not to go at the back of the van because the road is very bumpy and it’s just terrible; luckily the driver and the guide were able to accommodate us at the front of the van to have a better experience

Unforgettable Experience! Go on a weekday!

Andrew_R, Sep 2026
This was an absolutely incredible experience and a must do if you are in CDMX. It is a very long day but worth it. Danny and our driver were amazing and very accomodating to us. You can tell Danny loves what he does and is happy to be there showing us a good time. They truly made the experience so much better. I would definitely recommend trying to go on a weekday because of how many kids there were on sunday.

Must do!!

luis_c, Sep 2026
What an amazing experience this was, truly a must do!!! Definitely worth waking up super early in the morning. We got picked up ~5:30am due to a slight delay and arrived at Grutas ~11 due to a car issue. We would have arrived 1 hour earlier. Our guide Tania was on top of it and handled things to get us to Grutas asap. She gave us all the essentials you’ll need and made sure we were prepared for the entire day so we could make most of the time. The hot springs were absolutely beautiful! The caves were fun and river was chill. The lunch was delicious also, Tania made sure all our food was ready so by the time we had to eat we could sit down and eat and not wait on the food. I absolutely loved the entire trip! The drive is lengthy due to traffic although it is definitely worth it and a must!!!! This will be one of the most beautiful things you’ve seen.

Grutas de tolantongo

It was awesome , Charley was an amazing tour guide. He did really good at explaining the history of the grutas de tolantongo as well as the history of the surrounding cities and towns . Has answers to every question and was an over all an amazing tour guide. Jose was also a great driver. And over all the tour was amazing.

Grutas Tolantongo Adventure

Andrew_M, Sep 2026
This will be an all day excursion so be prepared for that. The drive to and from overall adds up to 8 hours, could be more based on traffic. Nonetheless it’s a worthy day trip. Our driver Cha Cha was smooth throughout the ride and had no trouble driving up and down the mountain side getting to our destination. Our tour guide Ádrian was just as amazing as well with his knowledge of the tour and overall energy. He was very helpful navigating through the caves as well and helping us and those in the group take pics and trek through the terrain. This is definitely a trip to recommend to your family and friends if you want a relaxing, yet adventurous day.

Great Day

Amazing your. Everything was great. Tour guide Diego was very nice and helpful and helped make the day great too. Loved every part and it was worth the money and drive 100%, a must do while in town!

It was an overall fun trip that was worth the money. Easy pick up, a few stops along the way including a breakfast stop, convenience store stop to get changed and pick up water shoes($200 pesos) and other sundries, and a ‘wow’ scenery stop. Once you arrive you will hang at the pools for 2 hours then meet up to shuttle down to the caves/waterfalls which will take about an hour to explore, then have lunch by the blue river which you will swim in for an hour or more and then head back to CDMX. I honestly thought it was a perfect amount of time at each experience. My wife was sick and couldn’t make it and next time I come to CDMX I will book this excursion again so she can experience it. My kids loved the trip even with the long travel time and said it was the best part of our CDMX vacation. Our driver and guide were there to help all along the way. Overall a great experience and I would recommend this to all families with kids. My kids were 9 and 11 at the time. The most challenging part was the cave’s uneven ground which can be a bit hard to manage but don’t be afraid, it was still so much fun!

Highly recommend Turo Tours

What an incredible excursion. It was relaxing and fun. Our tour guide, Tania, was super nice and offered all kinds of tips on how to best enjoy our time! She was amazing! Highly recommend! Travel time might seem daunting, but it was definitely worth it!

Best Day Ever

My partner and I really enjoyed this tour. The food was amazing (had the best enchiladas of my life at the restaurant in tolantongo) and the guide was super nice. Would recommend. 👍🏾

Breathtaking Fairytale Views and a Spa Day all in one

QIANA_R, Aug 2026
This was an amazing experience from start to finish. Our guide, Danny, deserves the biggest applause. He was full of knowledge, humor, and charm. The breakfast buffet was superb, a nice start to the morning. Arriving at the springs was fab, views out of this world. The pools themselves were so warm and relaxing and despite the amount of people present we didnt feel crowded and had many opportunities to find our own pool. Ziplining down the mountainside was exhilarating! Not for the faint of heart or accident prone, but Id do it again. The star of the show was the waterfall and cave journey towards the end of our time in Tolantango. Breathtaking and honestly impossible to put into words. We then ate lunch by the river and literally took a nap in the water hanging out on the rocks. Danny and the driver got us home safely and comfortably. I would 100% recommend this excursion for anyone visiting CDMX. Hopefully your lucky enough to get Danny as your guide.

Helpful tips

Francine_K, Aug 2026
Eduardo, our tour guide was awesome. Genuinely friendly, very knowledgeable and funny. Driver was also happy and friendly. Standouts were the zip line and caves. Zipline was fast but not too fast. So fun...and for only 300 pesos. Do it!!! The waterfalls and caves were beautiful....EVERYTHING was beautiful. My 20 and 21 yr old kids declared it as the best excursion/experience for our Mexico City vacation. Lunch we paid for but Eduardo ordered and got for us. We picnicked by the river. He recommended the stuffed cactus. It was yummy and something different. Tips: if you don't have a swimsuit, they stop at a place and you can buy one (for a reasonable price) Also get/bring water shoes. Cons: breakfast buffet was mid. Fresh fruits were good. Shuttle ride was challenging. Meaning the seats are uncomfortable and ride is bumpy. You can bring extra stuff you think you need cause you can leave it in the shuttle.

Tolantongo Day Trip

Clifford_B, Aug 2026
Our tour guide Carlos and driver Jose were the best. Carlos is very knowledgeable about history of the area and of Mexico. We were never rushed at any point giving us plenty of time at every spot to really enjoy the trip. Words really won't describe how beautiful this place is. The hot spring pools are incredible and feel amazing. The caves are super cool with plenty of great areas for photos. The river was a perfect finish to just sit and relax while the water flows past you. Highly recommend this tour.

Get ready to move fast it is not for the people who have limited mobility

RICHARD_G, Aug 2026
It’s a very long day and the food wasn’t that great to be honest. The breakfast was great but the lunch the food was lousy. The caves themselves are big steps and the water is very hot when you go in the tunnel it’s hot not that you would expect to be that way because most cave waters are cold, and my guy was very fast and he was very hard to understand and the vehicle we were in broke down on the way back so we’ve got back two hours late unless you get a better guide, I would skeptical. It’s a three hour track to and from the location and the toilets and showers are filthy at that location. That is why I gave it a full reading because the food was lousy and the facilities were like from prehistoric Times dirty. But the scenery is beautiful.

Fun water activities 🤿

Alexa_V, Aug 2026
This is a must do experience if you are visiting CDMX! Damian was our guide for our tour and he made this trip a breeze. I liked they provided items for the activities which included: towels, water bottle, shampoo, soap, head light, water protector for your phone, blanket, toilet paper, and a bag to carry it all ( which is nice if you don’t want to get your personal bag wet or pay for storage ) They give you two towels, one that’s in the bag, and another one during the last water activity to shower. When they give you the second towel it’s in a plastic bag so you can use it to put your wet clothes! One thing that I would highly recommend is getting water shoes! During the cave and river activity it can get very rocky. Many people bought them on the 2nd stop on the way there. Make sure to bring cash‼️‼️ 10/10 tour and guide 😊

A Great Full Day!

wendi_r, Aug 2026
What a beautiful place. Our tour guide was great at keeping everything organized. I recommend wearing water shoes and being prepared to walk. The zip line was lots of fun. Diego was a great tour guide. He was very friendly, helpful and very organized. The lunch was delicious and they had amazing Pina Coladas. Be prepared for a long and fun day

I highly recommend this...

I highly recommend this experience to anyone traveling to CDMX! Damian was a great and informative host and all the activities were so fun

Out of this world

Reneasha_A, Aug 2026
This was an out of this world experience I’ll recommend it to anyone and everyone I know Mexico is an amazing place with the most beautiful sites, our tour guide Danny was also really really nice and helpful and informative, from the pools to the zipping the caves the amazing waterfalls and the rivers 100000/10

10/10 must do!

Delia_R, Aug 2026
10/10 must! We had Monica as our tour guide and Pepe as our driver! Our day was great, started on time, got picked up at our location. Every stop was great, food was good for breakfast. We were the first ones there so being a buffet we got first dibs which was great. Tour was lovely, Monica explained everything well and got us on time everywhere. She was so knowledgeable and kind!

A crazy, unique, memorable experience

Nick_O, Aug 2026
The key takeaway is that this is a long and tiring day but worth it. Doing this tour and the Teotihuacan pyramids tour will stay with me forever. Things you should know: You need to be prepared to get a lot of info on WhatsApp at 8pm the night before. It’s all fairly clear and useful but it’s worth putting 20mins aside. It would be great to get this 48 hours before. It’s an early morning start, the drive is long and very bumpy but beautiful near the end. The breakfast is very basic but ok. But all this is worth it for the time you spend there. The photos of it are so good it could be AI but it does genuinely look like that - or better. First two hours spent bathing in thermal tubs - quieter, hotter, best view ones are at the top but to the right as you look out. I could have stayed forever. The cave walk is crazy! So many people and you just drop into hot water but it was so much fun we did it twice. The lunch (you order in the 8pm messages) was good and we all sat together near the final (natural) bathing area. We left to go back at about 3.30pm after a shower. A lot, a packed day but just fun and a different experience. We had a great guide - Lalo who had perfect knowledge of the day and was very accommodating to different needs. And finally - thanks to the driver- I could not have done that.

10/10 Experience

Stephanie_V, Aug 2026
This was truly such an amazing experience. Adrian was very communicative from prepping us the day before to the very end of the excursion. Aside from the great views on the way, Adrian provided a lot of history information which I thought was a nice touch. Him and the driver Pepe were very well prepared on the items they provide. This is a very only day, but it is very much worth it. I would definitely do this again and I would definitely recommend Adrian and Pepe. Couldn’t have asked for better service!

Worth the Drive!

James_C, Aug 2026
The experience was AMAZING! Certainly worth the long drive from CDMX. Our Host, Carlos (Charlie) was great and really informative on the history of that part of the Country. All three sections (Pools, Caves, and River) we fun. I suggest that you take the zip line down from the pools to the caves!

Tolantongo Experience 2026

Juan_V, Aug 2026
The experience was one of a lifetime. The tour guide expertise is amazing such in culture, history and geography. Being bilingual really helps those that cannot speak or understand English, Spanish.

Long drive but completely worth it.

Alessandro_A, Aug 2026
Lalo made my experience unforgettable. He valued our time and energy by being punctual to everything he planned. Everything was so organized and thought out- down to providing toilet paper because the place doesn’t provide it. He mixed a fun filled day with fascinating history. Although I had gone alone, he always made me feel included in everything, like we were on big family going on a trip. My only concern with the trip is I wish the cave exploration was more thorough but an amazing experience nonetheless. He provides you with water proof phone protectors which was amazing for getting incredible photos. Bring an external phone battery charger, my phone died right before the trip back. I would highly recommend this excursion, I never write reviews unless I extremely enjoyed it. Definitely go if you can afford it. Breathtaking.

Great time in Tolantongo

Lisa_C, Aug 2026
Incredible experience from start to finish! Our tour guide Diego and driver Nico were fantastic, and the company was completely reliable — everything ran exactly according to the shared itinerary. Pickup was well-organized and right on time. One tip: bring your own sunscreen. They do provide some, but it's not quite enough to last the whole day. Tolantongo itself is absolutely worth the visit. Just know it requires a good amount of energy and physical effort — there are plenty of stairs to climb and walking involved. That said, the views are breathtaking, and you're given enough time at each location to really enjoy it.

Ryan_M, Aug 2026
Was really nice it's just that the trip 3 hours to get there with that van was really uncomfortable and we prepared for the food and was poor quality and quantity was stayed hungry Leo was really nice and helpful I give him 5 stars

Highly recommend!!

Laree_M, Aug 2026
Excellent day and service! Our guide (Carlos / Charlie) was very organised and kept us up to date on the pick up times. His English was incredible and easy to follow along with. Tolantongo was incredible! We visited the pools, caves and river! Two things to improve: some finer details about what was happening would have been good (e.g. we bought food at the pools because we thought we weren’t going back to the van but ended up going back before the cave / also didn’t know we were going to the river), and hiring reef shoes should just be included in the total amount (was annoying messing around with cash - $7 pesos each).
