We had a great experience on our trip. Our guided, Danny, and driver, Nico, were both so friendly and kind! Danny was very knowledgeable of the area and was able to answer any of the group’s questions. The included breakfast and snacks were great. We bought the package that included lunch and were very pleased with the options. The hot springs, cave, and tunnel were all beautiful. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Our experience raised serious concerns regarding passenger safety, vehicle maintenance, communication, and overall professionalism.
The day began with confusion surrounding our pickup time. We had agreed upon a specific pickup time; however, our tour guide, Danny, insisted on arriving approximately 20 minutes earlier. Because of the rush, my girlfriend was unable to bring her prescribed medication with her.
Approximately one hour into our trip, our van suffered a flat tire on the rear left side. While mechanical issues can happen, what was most concerning was the complete lack of communication. Neither the driver nor our guide informed passengers about what had happened, how long repairs would take, or whether we were permitted to step off the vehicle to use the restroom, stretch, or purchase snacks. We were left sitting in the van guessing about the situation.
After struggling to remove the damaged tire, the driver eventually replaced it with a spare. Shortly thereafter, the van suffered a second flat tire, this time on the rear right side. While I understand that tire failures can occur, the driver had been swerving, driving aggressively, and repeatedly hitting potholes and speed bumps throughout the trip. Experiencing two flats in such a short period strongly suggests unsafe driving practices and/or inadequate vehicle maintenance.
When I asked Danny for an update, I was told another vehicle would meet us nearby. Upon arriving at a restaurant, we waited approximately two hours for transportation to continue to Tolantongo. During that time, I repeatedly requested updates. Every 20 minutes, we were told the replacement vehicle was “nearby,” which proved inaccurate. By this point, we were already more than two hours behind schedule.
Once we finally arrived at Tolantongo, the remainder of the day proceeded without issue. Unfortunately, the most troubling incident occurred during the return trip.
Our driver once again drove aggressively, speeding, swerving on mountain roads, and shifting gears harshly. With approximately 2.5 hours remaining before reaching our hotels, the van lost power and came to a stop around 8:30 PM. After an already exhausting day involving two flat tires, we found ourselves stranded in the dark, in a foreign country, with no explanation from the tour staff.
Once again, passengers received no communication. I had to leave the vehicle and ask what was happening. I then took it upon myself to inform the rest of the group, encourage everyone to use the restroom, stretch, and purchase snacks while we waited. More than 90 minutes passed with little to no information provided.
At that point, another member of our group contacted a private transportation service to rescue us. Several passengers, including ourselves, incurred additional expenses to arrange reliable transportation back to Mexico City. Although ToroTours eventually dispatched another vehicle, we no longer felt comfortable relying on the company after experiencing three separate breakdowns in a single day.
This situation was especially distressing because:
* We were stranded multiple times throughout the day.
* We were left in the dark without updates or reassurance.
* My girlfriend missed her scheduled 9:00 PM medication due to the delays.
* We did not return to our hotel until approximately midnight instead of the expected 8:30 PM arrival.
* Our dinner plans were ruined, and we went to bed without eating.
* The delays negatively impacted our plans and well-being the following morning.
* Passengers were forced to spend additional money on private transportation to ensure their own safety.
Mechanical failures may occasionally be unavoidable. However, experiencing three separate vehicle-related incidents in a single day points to a larger issue regarding fleet maintenance, driver conduct, and operational preparedness.
As a company responsible for transporting paying customers through remote areas and mountain roads, ToroTours has an obligation to ensure that its vehicles are properly maintained, its drivers operate safely, and its staff communicate effectively during emergencies.
This experience left us feeling unsafe, helpless, and abandoned in a foreign country. We booked this tour expecting a memorable experience, not repeated breakdowns, unsafe driving conditions, and hours stranded on the side of the road without communication.

This was such a beautiful experience! Our tour guide Charlie was kind and knowledgeable! I will definitely recommend this tour to friends! I came alone and it didn’t feel like I was alone! Everyone on the tour was so fun! The bus ride was comfortable but the outlets to charge your phone wasn’t working:/
I love that breakfast was included and they had great food options! I will be booking again! The only problem is that I needed more time at the pools haha! BOOK IT NOW!

We had an amazing excursion to Tolantongo with Leo and Santiago! They were both kind, organized, and punctual. Every detail of the trip was thoughtfully planned. The breakfast and lunch were both excellent, and we appreciated the snacks provided throughout the day. They even had shampoo and soap available for showering after enjoying the hot springs, which was a thoughtful touch.
The drive included plenty of breaks, making the long journey comfortable, and we arrived back at our hotel earlier than expected. Leo also shared many great local recommendations for food and places to. I highly recommend this tour if you're looking for a well-organized, stress-free, and enjoyable experience!

Danny was an excellent host for our trip to Tolantago. It was a long ride but Pepe, the driver got us there safely and securely and Danny was kind and extremely engaging. We had a great time and formed bonds with the people traveled with. The breakfast and lunch options were delicious as well

Great full day experience for those looking to experience Tolantongo without staying overnight. Our guide Adrian and driver Chacha were super friendly and welcoming. They also provided all the necessities required for the day so it’s convenient. The water was beautiful and the cave adventure was the highlight! It’s a very early start with a long drive, but we really enjoyed it.

Such an incredible experience! Our tour guide Danny was awesome, he made sure we were all taken care of throughout the day, and he also provided bits of interesting information. Our driver Nico also did a great job getting us there and back safely. The full day experience is a must for Tolantongo! Make sure to bring cash as card is not accepted there.

Very well organized, and plenty of time at each of the stops. The sights were so incredibly beautiful - we never imagined there would be a place like this in Mexico. Tania was such an accommodating, sweet, and funny guide… and a great communicator pre/during/post trip. Exceeded all expectations!

Place was beautiful, our guide Alejandro was very nice. Food and drinks were good, and prices were fair.
Chauntez_W, Jun 2026
Had a fantastic time! Our guide was super friendly, funny, and encouraged us to mingle which was important for a solo traveller. Though it was a long day away the time flew by as it was so much fun. Would definitely recommend.

Our tour guide was Carlos - along with the driver Nico.
The experience itself was wonderful - and so worth it - whether you’re solo, with a partner, friends, family.
Be prepared for a long day. Drive there feels fast - drive home can feel like an eternity. Be prepared with what you need ahead of time - but there are also several spots to get what you need (sunscreen, drinks, swimwear, etc).
Breakfast/lunch was great.
I suggest bringing some sort of backpack to consolidate your items (especially with limited space in the car).
Bus/ transportation was not very comfortable. Seats were quite narrow - and water was leaking through into the car in various places as it was raining.
Despite these external factors outside of the guide/drivers control - the service, education and experience made it well worth it. You can tell how much hard work and love is put into this trip, and wanting us to experience as much as we can.
Thank you guys so much!

We took a tour from Mexico City to Tolantongo Hot Springs, and it was an amazing experience. Pickup was easy, we had the option to be picked up from our Airbnb but chose to meet at the designated meeting point instead. Our guide, Charlie, made coordination simple and we had zero issues with logistics.
The hot springs themselves were incredible, but the caves were the real highlight for us. We’ve travelled all over the world, seen many beautiful things, but the waterfalls and caves are one of the most beautiful things we have ever seen. Pictures do not even come close to the magnitude of what you will experience.
If you have the time, get up early and do this. You will NOT regret it.
Charlie made sure we had all the required gear to enjoy them safely. Our driver, Nico, did a great job navigating the chaos of Mexico City traffic.
Two tips: read all the information carefully, as the hot springs are cash only. They do mention this beforehand, but we missed it, so don’t make our mistake! Additionally, the trip is bouncy and curvy, so if you get motion sickness be prepared as napping will not be an option.
Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.

Great experience would definitely recommend. The drive is a bit long, but worth it. Our guide was great and very helpful.

Patricia was very nice, knowledgeable, funny, informative, and kind. She made today’s experience very pleasant. I forgot the drivers name, he was also very kind and got us to point A to B safely and on time.

If you’re someone who loves adventure, this experience is absolutely perfect. Our tour guide, Leo, was remarkable in every sense and truly made this a day to remember.
He picked us up right on time in a comfortable, air-conditioned van that accommodated our group with ease. On the way to the springs, he thoughtfully included rest stops, provided snacks, and shared the history of Tolantongo, which made the journey just as enjoyable as the destination.
Once we arrived, Leo explained that Tolantongo is divided into three main areas, and the tour was perfectly paced, giving us plenty of time to explore each one. From the stunning warm spring pools carved into the mountainside with breathtaking views to the option of ziplining across the canyon, exploring the caves, and relaxing in the beautiful mineral-rich river, every moment felt like a new adventure. We wrapped up the day with lunch at one of the onsite restaurants, which was the perfect ending to such a full and exciting day.
What truly set Leo apart, however, was his character. During our time exploring the caves, my husband lost his wedding ring. Knowing how meaningful it was, Leo went back into the caves despite the difficult terrain to search for it. Even when we told him not to worry, as it felt nearly impossible to find, he didn’t give up. His determination paid off, and he was able to recover it.
That moment left a lasting impression on us and everyone in our group. His dedication, care, and persistence turned what could have been a heartbreaking situation into an unforgettable story with a happy ending. Thanks to Leo, we were able to continue enjoying the rest of the day with full hearts.
This experience and Leo’s incredible effort truly made our trip unforgettable. We are so grateful. Thank you, Leo, for going above and beyond and for creating such a meaningful adventure.

We had an excellent experience on our day trip to Tolantongo with Adrian and Cha Cha. Both were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable throughout the entire tour. Adrian communicated all itinerary details clearly in advance, and pickup and drop-off were prompt and exactly as promised.
During the drive, Adrian shared interesting historical information about landmarks along the route, which added to the experience. At Tolantongo, he made sure everyone stayed safe and accounted for, assisted as a translator between guests and park staff when needed, and even took photos for us at each of the caves so we could fully enjoy the magic of the hot springs, caves, and river. We highly recommend this tour company to anyone looking for a well-organized and enjoyable visit to Tolantongo.

Leo and the driver were amazing! Leo made the entire experience stress-free. He was incredibly helpful, caring, and made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the trip. The driver did an excellent job getting us safely to our destination. I would highly recommend them to anyone. As an added bonus, Leo spoke excellent English, which made communication easy and the experience even better. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Visiting Tolantongo is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and we're glad we did it! The day is packed with the pools, caves, and river. It's a long day with long commutes both ways but worth it and we'd do it again.

The experience was phenomenal and our guide was really helpful on any issue and questions, also is worth the money for what you get
Dagery_G, Jun 2026
Exploring the Waters of Tolantonga was very interesting and we thoroughly enjoyed Tolantonga. However, the ride was miserable and bumpy all the way. The vehicle made a disturbing hum all the way, especially if you sat in the back. The breakfast was not worth our while (the food was cold and tasteless), and the extra stop to change was a wasted effort because there were enough places to change at the property. Additionally, our guide Tania was insensitive and at the last minute dropped us off at an unknown stop which was not close to where we were picked up from. This cost us additional expenses in taxi fare! When we got to our hotel a group message was sent with PayPal information soliciting additional tip! Totally disturbing.
Camille_L, Jun 2026
Absolutely amazing trip! Leo was a phenomenal guide and they prepared us well throughout the day and he had great communication leading up to the trip. It is far from CDMX so expect it to be a full day trip but it was so worth it. Recommend going on a weekday when it is less crowded and to avoid some traffic returning to the city. Would give Leo 10 stars if we could! Our driver Pepe was also phenomenal!!
Charlotte_B, May 2026
Absolutely amazing experience. We'll worth the full day to experience.
That being said, we were disappointed in the tour company. The bus was not the best from the beginning (broken seats etc). The bus broke down on the way home on the highway.
I also did not like the fact that there were "hidden" charges. For example while zip lining is listed, it cost an additional $300 pesos per person. While we paid for lunch as part of our tour fee. We were charged additional because there is a dollar limit on each person's lunch (we didn't know this until AFTER we placed our lunch order). Communication could have been much better. I received a "text" from the tour company the night before requesting that I confirm our pick up details. I respond and thought that I never received a confirmation. However the confirmation was done via WhatsApp.

Adrian and Cha Cha were great and it was an amazing experience. Loved how everything you need for the trip is provided
Michael_C, May 2026
Kickstarted my solo trip to Mexico City with this tour and it was 100% worth it. Our driver, Chacha and tour guide, Adrian were an amazing team. Tolantongo and the drive there is super scenic. Adrian knows his angles if you're looking for that perfect instagram shot. The hot springs were super relaxing. If you're into more adventurous activities, there's a zipline and cave exploring. This was a life changing experience and I can't say enough about how welcome I was as a solo traveller. I also really appreciated the thoughtfulness in providing a whole setup with headlamps, phone water protectors, towels, etc. Definitely request Adrian and Chacha as they'll take fantastic care of you.

We loved this excursion so much!! It felt like a once in a lifetime experience and we were beyond more than satisfied with our guide Alex and driver Peppe. Alex is a historian who is well knowledgeable about the indigenous groups and was so attentive with any needs we may have had. Peppe was also awesome, got us to all points quick and efficient, and his playlist was fire. We hardly had to worry about anything since more of it was provided for us by the team, something we greatly appreciated!! If we did this again, we would surely ask for this duo again.
Joanne_L, May 2026
This was such an amazing experience from start to finish! Our tour guide Leo and driver Panchito took such amazing care of us the whole time, and were so patient when someone from our group realized they had to run back because they left something behind at the caves. The excursion wouldn’t have been as memorable as it was without the two of them! We were provided everything that we needed for the day, minus water shoes and a portable charger, which I definitely recommend packing as you’ll be out all day. We came on a Friday and got extremely lucky as there wasn’t a huge crowd at either of our stops. Overall this was the perfect balance of both relaxation (hot springs) and adventure (zipline and caves), and I would 100% do it again!
