We had a wonderful and thoroughly enjoyable tour with Carlos. The museum is very large, so having a knowledgeable guide to walk us through, share stories, and point out important details was both helpful and enlightening. We also toured the castle, which offered great views of the city, beautiful gardens, and a rich sense of history. I would strongly recommend both the tour and our guide, Carlos.

We had a great time on this tour and learned so much. Our guide Santiago was able to teach us the ancient history of Mexico and what we were looking at in the Anthropology museum and Chapultepec Castle in an efficient, detailed, and accessible way. Santiago was very knowledgeable, pleasant and patient. We stopped for a coffee, had an enjoyable walk in the Chapultepec Park and saw both museums. I would recommend Santiago!

This was our second time to Mexico City but first time to visit either museum. I was worried it would be overwhelming to do both in one day, but Carlos made the experience feel like just the right balance. We never felt rushed or like we were missing out. We spent our first day in Mexico City with Isaias, touring the Anthropology Museum and Chapultepec Castle was perfect. He is very knowledgeable, accommodating, enthusiastic and kind, as well as an excellent historian. This created the perfect backdrop for our museum tour and deeper dives when we enquired. Fantastic Experience…a Very Special Day

We had such a fabulous experience with our guide, Isa. Honestly, I had thought that what I booked was a small group tour, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that it actually was just us and Isa. It was like spending the day with a (super knowledgeable) friend. He was super friendly, and we learned so much from him about Mexico’s history. We stopped for ice cream by the lake, and it felt like hanging out with a friend the whole time. I absolutely recommend this experience, and if you get Isa as a guide, you will be very fortunate indeed!

Wonderful!!! Our guide Isias was a delight, so knowledgeable and super friendly. He made us feel at ease immediately, offered to meet us at our hotel which was close enough to walk to the museum together and then showed us the 3 main rooms. Really interesting but not overwhelming so it was perfect for us on our first day with jet lag! We stopped for lovely coffee break and then walked through the park to the Castle for more interesting information and beautiful views of the city. It felt like spending the day with a new friend. Isias also went out of his way to recommend places to eat and walk near our hotel. Multilingual his and English was perfect so ASK FOR ISIAS on your tours… he is a born and bred local to Mexico City who loves his work as a guide. You will enjoy whatever you do with his enthusiasm.

A friend and I toured the Anthropology Museum and Chapultepec Castle on Thursday, October 24. We met our guide, Jose Luis, at the Museum at 10:00 am. Jose Luis was a great guide - able to explain many complex subjects clearly and quickly and answer our many questions -an excellent tour of ancient Mexican history. And what a great museum - beautifully built and constructed. In the afternoon we toured the Castle and had a tour of Mexico's more modern history. We had a great day and walked back to our hotel.

Guide did not know the topic/history, poor English, choose different company

Very disappointing experience. The tour guide was supposedly bilingual but struggled with English. He did not know relatively basic Mexican history. Even when he explained a few things in his native Spanish to my Spanish-speaking friend he for example did not know the names of several of the more famous Mexican president’s or anything about the timeline of when Mexico became independent. Not knowing the overall big topics of Mexican history is a big problem during a history-based tour. During the museum visit he simply read aloud from the signs next to exhibits. The guide also stepped away several times and we could hear him trying to arrange dates and taking social phone calls during the tour. It was also inappropriate that he asked personal questions about our income which was totally out of context. He also shared a lot of unsolicited political opinions about various things happening in the world today which was also totally out of context. Overall, I will choose a different tour company that does not employ a guide like this one.

Rediscovering our cultural roots

Our tour started at the Museo de Antropología and then Castillo de Chapultepec, which was a good transition from receiving an overview of the Olmecs, Mayans, and Aztecs and ending with a historical overview of the 18th-19th centuries at the Castle. Our guide, Francisco, was very engaging, passionate, and extremely knowledgeable about Mexican history and culture. My family’s cultural heritage is Mexican and Francisco did a wonderful job of providing in-depth explanations for our understanding and learning (group of 4 adults). Some of us speak Spanish (albeit rusty) but it was great that he moved back and forth to English/Spanish for our group. We all became aware of how diverse Mexico City is to this day, represented by indigenous people, Europeans, Middle Easterners, and so many more cultures — a city rich in multi-cultures. We appreciated that Francisco joined us for a quick lunch where we continued the conversation and would definitely book him again!

Héctor was an incredible tour guide who gave us such a deep insight into some incredibly interesting pieces of Mexican history. We learned about symbolism and then how we could recognize it throughout much of the pieces we saw in the museum and then transitioned to teaching us so much at Chapultepec castle. It was out first full day in Mexico and I can’t think of a better way to have spent the day.

Hilary was incredible. An absolutely brilliant guide with an amazing knowledge of pre-Columbian history thru the Aztecs and Mayans and a vast knowledge of all things in Central American history. She was funny, witty and guided us through eons of history. Then we walked thru Chapultepec park and to the castle where she had incredible insights into the Spanish colonialism and Mexican independence. A fabulous day spent with Hilary, a must do tour!
