Amazing experience with Volare. Everything was smooth and well organised from start to finish. Our pilot, Juan Manuel Diaz, was incredibly skilled and had such a great, positive attitude that made the whole flight even better. He got us impressively close to the pyramids, which made the views feel surreal. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

Very well organised tour. Comfortable trip throughout from pick up to drop off. The experience is amazing
The first half was great from the pick up to the hot air balloon ride to the breakfast after that is where things went down hill they have this like third party “partners” that are supposed to take you to the pyramid but turned into a side quest where they took us to some culture demonstration/ gift shop which wasn’t bad but this took more than an hour limiting our time for exploring the pyramids what made things worst is they kept splitting us up and handing us over to different drivers at every stop so it was confusing where we were going and the last group of like 10 people we were with were told to meet at gate 4 for pick up back to the city but after like 35 mins of no show someone in the group called and they said they had already left without us saying we didn’t meet up in the spot they told us we called again the volare company and they said they should have tooken us because they had two empty vans but neither the volare and the third party people were taking responsibility for this and we all had to figure out our own way home which led me to having to take a $120 Uber ride back home that took like 4hrs if you book this be sure to bring extra money just incase they leave you !!!

Beautiful experience floating over the pyramids.
Had to get up super early for pick up, once arrived they put you into groups, after take off you will have amazing views of the top of Teotihicaun. After landing we share in a champagne toast. Then loaded back up to enjoy a breakfast buffet.
After breakfast tour buses took us to the pyramids, here we met with guides who wanted us to follow them to explain everything about the site. The guides were fun but once we got into the park and shown some novelties and gift shop it ate into a lot of time to visit the sites themselves, we were then rushed through and it was bit chaotic. I wish we got to spend more time without the push and rush from the guides to get us through as it was expensive to pay the extra for their details. I would prefer to have had us skip the gift shop and just hit that at the end of time permitted as there are plenty of peddlers inside the site. The ride back took forever because of traffics. I recommend this trip but be mindful of the tour guides and being rushed, this was a once in a lifetime experience and felt shorter a bit on what we could get to see in the end up close.

It was truly one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had. I’ve been to 21 countries and do thrill seeking activities often. The ride was so peaceful. I would totally recommend this vendor as well. Captain Hugo was a vibe.

This experience was absolutely amazing. I loved it. Why I am giving it 3 stars was because of what happened after the tour. They picked us up at our hotel in the morning with no problems. When they dropped us off, they literally dumped us somewhere and said get an uber. It took us an hour to get back. The specifics were that some roads are closed. They told us that roads were closed and they could ONLY drop us off at a certain point. I understand that it is a holiday weekend, but not all roads were closed and not all efforts were made. When the driver showed us the paper of where he was supposed to drop us off, it said the monument revolution. He specifically drove there and then showed us the roads were closed. When we started walking, it was just that one road that was closed. He even told us to get an uber. It was premeditated and decided before we even got into the van. There was no transparency on the drop off point. Furthermore, they made an announcement that every effort would be made to drop us off as closely to our hotels as possible. Everyone in our van was personally dropped us. We were ditched on the side of the road. Me, my husband and our 13 year old son. We had to walk an hour to the hotel. Honestly, the experience itself was amazing, but I have never ever been dropped off like that.

Make sure you go with people that are willing to switch spots so you can get good pictures.
I went the the pyramids as well.
I would have liked to be dropped off closer to the pyramids entrance though.

Balloon experience was great, but would NOT recommend doing the Teotihuacán pyramids as part of the experience because of the collusion that we witnessed between Volare and the third party tour guides that greet you when you’re dropped off at the restaurant for the self-guided tour.
The whole point of a self guided tour was to not be corralled around, yet when the bus dropped us off at the restaurant we were met with tour guides who claimed they were part of Volare and even chatting with the bus driver and asking us how the mariachi band and breakfast were. They then took us on a “tour” for 30+ minutes and tried to sell us obsidian products (which took another 30 minutes) before trying to upsell us on a guided tour. Those who refused were dropped off at the actual front gate where we had to wait 20 minutes to buy a ticket to enter the pyramids. All in all, this cut our tour time by at least half and we were barely able to see much of the actual site - we missed the temple and only saw the two pyramids since we ended up only having an hour around the entire site.
What upsets us most is the blatant collusion between Volare and this third party tour group. Moreover, these situations could have been avoided had they just dropped us off at the front of the entrance instead of at a restaurant on the side of the road. Once you return from the pyramids, you have to wait at the same restaurant for 15+ minutes despite being repeatedly told to show up on time. The folks at the restaurant really try to get you to sit down and eat and drink something (they will point blank ask if you’re part of Volare) so they can upsell and charge you for even more than they already have. They also told us to meet back at the restaurant at 12:25pm, but the van didn’t even leave until ~12:50pm.
Pros: The balloons were magical, amazing experience and felt very safe. A balloon ride and exploring Teotihuacan is a must for any trip to Mexico.
Cons:
- Pick up was 30minutes late (no traffic) with no communication, and kept getting blue ticked on whatsapp. It happens when there's multiple pick up, but I would have appreciated a reply rather than being left on read repeatedly.
- You have the option of buying a tour of the pyramids for $600MXN (including a water and entry). If you don't buy this you get taken on a shopping tour for 1+ hour to taste Mezcal and look at Obsidian shops and get left with around 1.5 hours to explore the ruins later (when there's more people). I had opted for the tour, which unfortunately was very bad, it was very slow as had to translate English and Spanish, and unfortunately no one could understand the tour guide's pronunciation and what we could understand they didn't cover a lot (listening to the other guides nearby was more interesting, he didn't talk about or demonstrate the echos either which I only knew about from reading and hearing others demonstrate. Those who opted out of the tour got a 15minute talk, which sounded very interesting and sounds like what we should have covered. Maybe it was just luck of the draw on who your tour guide is. He also only covered 2/3 of the sites and said we'd have to go to the Obsidian shop next, which we vetoed and stayed to run to the last site (1 hour return trip to the pick up site). With the 3 hours extended time (actually more like 2 hours 2.5 hours as they factor in shopping as the remaining time) there should have been enough time to see all the sites especially with a tour guide which should be more efficient.
- photo package/ drone pictures are expensive, and doubles the price of the trip. The pictures and videos were good though.
- Explanation for where to meet to return weren't clear for all the groups, and some people were left behind despite not being told the correct place to meet up (not where they drop you off). There is also no signal or wifi for them to contact you/ you to contact them (regardless of phone network you have)
Overall for the convenience it's worth it, however it could be done better especially for the tour of the pyramids. If you can skip the shopping tours and go straight to the pyramids after the balloon (maybe you can uber or ask them to drop you off) it would be better, or if they had a proper tour guide which lets you actually see the sites and learn about it than great. Or as long as you know what to expect.

This was such an amazing experiencing. Even though we had to wake up at 5 am it was totally worth it. The staff was so kind throughout the experience. They fed us some snacks before we left and after the experience they gave us breakfast. Then when we went to the pyramids the tour guide was so experienced and told us about the history and would chat with us in between. He also took us to an artisan who showed us different obsidian and different culinary preparations on prickly pear and taught us a few words. The artisan was so courteous and was happy to answer any questions.

The balloon tour was great with some amazing views, then they give you 1-2 hours to explore the pyramids by foot if you want this option. Though I have to say being given a time of 12:30pm for going back into the city is quite annoying as at this point you will have been awake since 4am, and you will be craving some lunch by this point. Perhaps they could make this sooner if they set off the balloons sooner? There felt like a lot of waiting around at the start.
The breakfast was ok with some entertainment which was a nice touch. I will say though, they try to charge you an extranote amount for photos and videos (£60 for like 10 photos! £10 per photo). Come on guys, we've already paid £150 each at this point, lower the prices, come up with some better deals for multiple photos, not many people are going to care about the 360 video or the drone. Another negative, I thought we would get so much closer to the pyramids then we did, the videos make it look much closer.

So amazing. It was worth waking up early. I took my kids 11 and 16. I thought it might be scary, but it wasn’t at all. It goes up slow and you just float. Even the landing was great. Riding on an airplane is way scarier! I have scratched that off my bucket list, I’m happy about it!

The hot air balloon was an amazing experience, but the commercial tour after was a nightmare. Flight and breakfast was done by 8:45 yet we were paraded around gift shops that didn't sell anything for less than 1000 mxn. We were given 1:15 at the pyramids but it was a 20-25 minute walk from the temple of the moon to the pickup point so we had time to just walk across 1/3 of the area and quickly walk straight back. Just odd to pick us up a half mile outside of the entrance rather than the exit parking lot (or even entrance lot) and that choice took up half the time.
We later found out the people who opted into the additional $200 pp tour were picked up and dropped off appropriately and didn't do 2/3 of the tour at the gift shop.
The tienda we walked to for pickup sold local beers for 300 pesos, which is just obscene.

An absolute highlight of my trip to Mexico! Flying over the Teotihuacan archaeological site at sunrise was nothing short of magical.
From start to finish, the entire operation was flawless. The early morning pickup from Mexico City was perfectly on time, and the crew welcomed us with warm coffee and pastries while we watched the massive balloons inflate—a spectacular sight in its own right.
Once in the air, the flight was incredibly smooth and peaceful. Floating silently above the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon as the sun broke over the horizon provided a breathtaking perspective that you simply cannot get from the ground. The pilot was highly skilled, professional, and shared fascinating historical facts about the ruins below while ensuring everyone in the basket felt safe and comfortable.
After landing, we were treated to a traditional sparkling wine toast, a personalized flight certificate, and a delicious breakfast buffet

Definitely an experience not to be missed! The Volare team was very professional from the pick-up time all the through the end. I was especially impressed with the piloting skill of Mauricio who operated the balloon. He and his crew took us directly over the Temple of the Sun. It will definitely be a memory I will cherish my whole life.
The only thing stopping me from giving five stars was what happened after I chose to add on the stop at Teotihuacan at the end. We were picked up from our drop-off point and taken to what we were led to believe was the entry point to the pyramids. However, a man who may or may not have been affiliated with Volare met us at the drop off point claiming to be a free tour guide. He then led us through some "ruins" and drove us to a place near the actual pyramids which was little more than a tourist trap. It wasn't until we all loudly demanded to be taken to the actual pyramids that he acquiesced. In the end, our three hours at the pyramids get reduced to two. I'm not sure if this "guide" hijacked our trip, or if he worked with Volare in any capacity. In any case, the drivers all went along with it.
At this point, we decided to bail on the trip back and took an Uber back to our hotel.
It's worth it. And Volare was a great outfit to work with. But at the end, don't be afraid to insist on being taken to the actual pyramids at Teotihuacan.

My husband and I had a great experience with Volare overall. They communicated our pickup time the day before and were right on time. Check-in was easy. They had hot coffee and tea available while we waited.
Our captain, Karen, was awesome, professional and friendly. She got us really close to the pyramids and the views were AMAZING. We had a smooth landing and the crew was waiting for us when we touched down. Definitely bring cash for tips since the crew works hard to get everyone landed safely and efficiently.
There was also a photographer taking photos, plus a 360 camera attached to the balloon. They offer different photo/video packages. We opted for the drone + photo package and were really happy with the quality. These are once-in-a-lifetime memories, so if you think you’ll purchase the photos, remember to smile and wave at the cameras!
Breakfast afterward was nothing to write home about, but the mariachi band was a nice touch. We also opted to explore the pyramids on our own rather than with a guide, which we enjoyed since we could go at our own pace. It was HOT by 11am, so bring a hat, umbrella, sunscreen and water. There is no shade there.
The ride back took almost two hours due to traffic, and unfortunately our van’s AC wasn’t working, so it got pretty hot. Opening the windows helped, and our driver was professional and efficient. Despite that, the experience was definitely worth it!

The most amazing way to start our trip to Mexico City! Seeing the pyramids from the sky was incredible. We booked the return transfer from Mexico City and the service was seem less. We decided to do a tour of the pyramids so our day was around 0900 hours. But you can if you wish head straight back to MXC after the balloon ride.
