The guide from the History Tellers, the concept providing interesting walking tours to fund Madeiran students is wonderful. Our guide was a German gap year student who was excellent, very knowledgeable. We all enjoyed learning about the history of the sugar and wine trade in Madeira. I would recommend these walking tours if you want to find out about Funchal and the real Madeira.

We went on this tour as we were interested in the sugar side of things as we could have gone to any of the wine houses otherwise. Guide was very knowledgeable but was unaware that the sugar museum was closed for whole of june, sad that tour were not more closely linked with museum and were not informed of this as learned m thing about sugar industry at all.
