Luís is an amazing tour guide! The trip around the Island was seamless and thoroughly enjoyable. He made extra stops for us to check out a rum factory and for lunch. He gave us a lovely picnic with local fares and water. His English was excellent and the history lessons were fantastic! Best tour ever! Highly recommend doing this!

Our Madeira Island tour was absolutely unforgettable, and Luis was truly magnificent. From the moment we started, his knowledge, energy, and passion for the island made the entire experience feel personal and special. He showed us breathtaking viewpoints, beautiful hidden spots, and shared so much about Madeira’s culture and history along the way.
What really set Luis apart was his thoughtfulness. When he learned I was celebrating my birthday, he surprised me with a bottle of champagne to take on my hike the next day so I could toast at the top. That kind of personal touch meant so much and made the experience even more memorable.
Luis went above and beyond in every way. If you’re planning a tour in Madeira, request him specifically. This was easily one of the highlights of our entire trip. Highly recommended!

Luis made sure to adapt our tour to our request based on what we had saw. The restaurant suggestion was sublime, nice little local restaurant in porto Moniz. Amazing island!

It’s a great way to see the big hitters of the islands if you’re only here for a couple of days! Luís was a great guide and had lots of local knowledge as well as on how to avoid the crowds. Coming in January, this gave us enough time at all the places we stopped.

We recently spent our honeymoon in Madeira, and honestly… every glowing review you’ve read online is completely justified. The island is beautiful.
The problem was figuring out where to start. So we booked a full-day tour with Luis to get the lay of the land. This was my first time doing a guided tour on vacation, and I was a little skeptical. Turns out it was the perfect way to kick off our trip.
One thing that really impressed us was how flexible Luis was with the itinerary. When we wanted to linger longer at certain spots, he was more than happy to adjust on the fly. We ended up hitting over 10 locations across the island, each one more beautiful than the last.
If you’re planning a trip to Madeira, this tour is absolutely worth it.
(P.S. Don’t forget to try the poncha)

We were a bit concerned about this trip as the weather forecast suggested heavy rain starting about halfway through our 8-hour experience. But we needn’t have worried. Luis, our driver and guide, contacted us beforehand in case we did want to cancel, but we decided against it and had a wonderful day. Luis even adjusted the itinerary so that we started at the Cabo Girao viewpoint instead of visiting it last in the rain. Our route took us across the mountains on winding roads through beautiful villages to picturesque small ports. All the while Luis kept us informed with cultural, geographical, geological and even sporting insights to the areas we visited. We stopped for lunch at a restaurant recommended by Luis and later enjoyed a poncha at an interesting old bar by the sea. Luis also gave us a picnic to take back to our hotel. Light rain eventually started just as we reached our final stopping point, but nothing could dampen what was a wonderful day out. Thank you very much, Luis.

Viator, what’s this? 1.000€ for 4 persons and just a van, 4 bottles of mineral water and some cookies, dosen stops mostly on lookout spots and 9 hours of driving. Lunch not included.
With that price tag we expected something really exclusive.
Out driver Miguel provided a safe drive and aswered all the questions, but that should standard at any tour.
This was the worst steal ever.

Luis is an amazing guide and a very personable person as well! We had an absolutely wonderful time spending the entire day with him. We enjoyed everything about this tour. The picnic lunch was a nice touch and we also had fun at the local Poncha bar he recommended where they make it fresh while you watch. Very cool! We were able to see so many sites in one day that would have been virtually impossible to do on our own. We just sat back and relaxed and he took care of the rest. Thanks again for a great time!

Duarte avoided all the crowds at tourist stops and showed us the most beautiful locations on the island .. he was also very informative and knew the best local restaurants and was an excellent driver. It was a very relaxing experience overall. We would highly recommend his talents.

This is a great way to explore the island when you are tight for time. Luís was very knowledgeable about all questions we had regarding Madeira. The amount that you manage to see and cover in the day makes it so worth it. The picnic is also a nice touch, with local products of Madeira.

We were so glad we got to see the beautiful island of Madeira. We loved it here. Our driver was a nice guy and amusing in his own way. He did not share very much information about the places we visited and wasnt passionate about his island. We pulled up in an old taxi which had seen much better days. The air conditioning was not working during a heat wave. Thankfully there was a breeze with the window open. He apparently was recently added on to the staff but was probably not one of the better guides. My advice would be to make sure you ask for one of the guides reviewed to do a good job and make very clear the vehicle should be clean and air conditioned

We had only one full day to see the island. Booked this private tour. We were met at our hotel right on time by Miguel. We explained what we wanted to see and he put together a 6 hours of a great tour of the west side of the island. He stopped at many vantage points that were alternative to the crowds. Spent time at the village he grew up in and arranged a Madeira tasting at the oldest winery on the island. Perfectly paced, and because he was born on the island, his extensive knowledge made him the perfect tour guide. Highly recommend Miguel for an incredible experience!

He gave us an amazing tour of the island from the port of Funchal along the southern coast then crossing the Island to the northwest and then touring back to Funchal!
