We had the good fortune of exploring the East of Madeira with our tour guide Joel from Nourishing Experiences. Joel knows the island like the back of his hand and was extremely generous with his knowledge. He was able to on the fly refine aspects of the tour based on our interest. Patient, enthusiastic and kind, we had a wonderful time and appreciate Joel helping enhance both our experience and memories. 10 stars!

Joel was great. He is super nice, loves Madeira, and is very knowledgable about the island. He did not try to nickel and dime us on timing, and was very professional throughout. Would recommend.

Joel greeted us outside our hotel and before we got in the car he asked “ what is the top thing you wanna see?”. Told him waterfalls and possibly swim in natural pools. He said we can go but I must advise you they will be packed with tourist so don’t be disappointed when you arrive. Immediately I changed my mind and said no thank you. I then asked what he would recommend and he said “ do you trust me?” Obviously I replied “Hell yeah I do !” And that my friends is how I went on the best super secret Joel tour. Of course some spots had tourist but no major crowds. Got to taste wild flowers and fruits. Even saw a super rare seal that’s a protected species. Joel is so full of information about plants and history. Long story short, it was an amazing adventure

Great way to see the island and learn about its history. I enjoyed a traditional tomato soup with egg and an espanada fish entree at a local restaurant on the way up to the Pico do Aireiro mountain. Views from the top were among the most stunning I have ever seen.

It was my first time in Madeira and I booked Joel based on previous reviews. He was a great tour guide and is very knowledgeable.
Before I arrived he asked how what I wanted to see and made sure my day was tailored perfectly to my preferences.
My first tour was to see the West of the island. I liked my tour with Joel so much that I cancelled a group tour of the East of the island (with another company) and rebooked it with Joel. Honestly this is one of the best ways to see the island.

We had a great day with Joel. He took us to many unique sites around the island with amazing views and interesting history. Joel is a fun and adventurous local who knows and loves his island! We requested to visit small villages and have lunch at a local restaurant. We explored several areas of the island in the high mountains and off the beaten path. We went to an excellent restaurant for lunch, he even convinced me to try octopus for the first time! Highly recommend this tour, the schedule is nimble and can adjust as you learn more about the island and may want to experience something along the way.
