Relaxed trip around the East side of Island driven expertly by Wilson the best driver in Madeira,the Cristiano Ronaldo of Land Rover drivers👊 Spent the day in the company of 2 Americans,a Kiwi and a Scotsman,very nice people which also made the day.

Thank-you Fabio we had an amazing time on the east side of Madeira, there are so many locations we went to and little stops to see parts of nature and our guide was very good at talking in fact I think he never stopped talking which was great we learnt so much! My favourite was the traditional houses in Santana and how they are used (such an amazing family to maintain use of these and allow us to visit) lunch was amazing with exceptional views and such lovely people and no tour is complete without a visit to a good poncha bar. Our guide was such a fabulous driver, not one moment did we feel unsafe on the steep narrow roads whilst he told us about how the land is farmed in these areas and how the people on the island live, the whole day was interesting and relaxing and for those who need to know this there are toilet facilities at most stops so you can stay well hydrated. Thank-you 'Hit the road Madeira' we will very definitely be back. Absolutely book an excursion with this team you will have such a fantastic time if not one of the major highlights of your visit to this beautiful island.

Too Long of a Day!

Let me first say Hugo was an amazing host and shared a wealth of Information about the island!! But, 6 adults crammed into an older Land Rover was very unpleasant especially for the people sitting in the back jump seats. This tour is get in, get out at the various stops the guide chooses along the way. Way more times than I wanted. The ride up and down the mountain is met with sharp turns that the person suiting in the 2nd row middle seat gets tossed back and forth. At the end of the day, if you love the magnificent views and naturist aspects, this tour is for you.

We had an amazing time with Nuno. He was a great driver and tour guide. Charasmatic, energetic, and insightful. He also took us to a really great lunch spot for Espetada and also a really good spot for some traditional Poncha. We had a great time exploring the Eastern portion of the island with this tour group.

Hit the Road is the way to go!!!!! After researching different tour options with different tour operators for months, I chose this tour group and I’m so happy I did. Nuno our guide was AMAZING!! He is energetic, so informative, friendly and very charismatic. He took us off the beaten track and avoided the tourist trap stops. We went up to Pico do Arieiro and it was breathtaking. The views were stunning. We made it there just before the clouds rolled in. We visited Santana briefly. It was pretty but full of tourists. We took some pictures and then headed off through forests and back roads which was so much fun in a Jeep!! We visited the rum factory and stopped for Poncha. It was fantastic. However, the highlight for me was Quinta do Furão where we stopped for lunch. It was lovely. We ate lunch on their patio with views of the ocean and cliffs. The Quinta itself was charming. The vineyards and gardens were gorgeous. The lunch itself was one of the best meals that I had in the two weeks that we spent in Portugal!!! This is what sets this tour group apart from the rest. The personal touches. Nuno booked this restaurant especially for us. I was so grateful. He and the Hit the Road team went out if their way to make the tour special. Fantastic and memorable!!! Thank you so much!!

Intro to the East

A great introduction to the East especially if you don't have a car. Truly a small group tour unlike other operators where we were able to hit some areas not as frequented by tourists.

Loved this tour, Hugo was an amazing guide. Spectacular views, off roading in 4 x 4, lots of photoshoot opportunities, visit to an authentic Santana frame house and much more. Best tour that we've done.
