The tour of the island was simply incredible. Starting off with our fantastic driver, Dinarte, who is a native of the island and has an impressive background. He is extremely knowledgeable of the island, it's various tourist spots and even secretive areas that he took me and my wife for our honeymoon excursion. He's extremely friendly and would recommend this tour to anyone. I would definitely recommend the long full day tour. We had an amazing time! Thank you Dinarte!!

Great day travelling around the island with Dinarte. We had a diverse age group from 12-72, and he instantly made us all feel comfortable with his friendly demeanour. We saw everything on our list and much more. The day flew by and was loved by all. Highly recommend this smaller company for a personalized experience.

I treated my Mum and Dad to a private All day tour of Madeira….. with Inside Out Madeira Jeep tours for their birthdays. Mum just called me to tell me that they had the most superb day with a young local tour guide called Dinart. This is what she said:
Just got back. What a fantastic day. Brilliant tour guide. All round lovely, 100% authentic local, good guy. We learned so much about the island! He took us to “not tourist” beauty spots (at my request!), told us loads of local stories and anecdotes, was kind and attentive. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a day to remember. I would 100% recommend him as a trusted, authentic, honest local guide, who shares a wealth of history and culture of Madeira. He also spoke fluent English. We loved the day! Thank you so much!!

Dinarte was a blast to be around - there were a few sites we wanted to see, and he crafted a route to visit those most efficiently and beat the cruise crowds. He also chose a few spots along the way for us to stop and check out that we would not have known otherwise. He was a great driver and we felt very safe the whole time in the Jeep, even going through the narrow mountain roads. Would 10/10 recommend!

We had the most amazing day on our private tour with Spencer! His knowledge of the island, its history and ecosystem combined with all the beautiful places he showed us provided a unique experience. He was attentive to our particular needs and moved at our pace. He was also a fun person to spend the day with! We had the pleasure of taking this private tour with Dinarte and it was phenomenal! He’s so knowledgeable about Madeira and it was a pleasure learning about the various sites on the island. He is very accommodating and although the price may seem a bit more compared to others, I can easily say this is the best private tour you can book for yourself and won’t regret it one bit!! We will be referring our friends whenever they decide to visit Madeira. Worth every penny!! We enjoyed Dinarte’s tour a lot!! Spencer was spectacular! He showed up on time and was very friendly and knowledgeable! He showed us all the things that we didn’t know we needed to see. We saw everything from the fisherman’s village to his favorite spot up in the clouds, put our toes in the water at the black sand beach and took a dip in the lava pools after a delicious lunch with poncha. We got to see so much more than we thought was possible in one day thanks to this great tour. He even safely maneuvered around these crazy winding streets and we felt very safe. He pointed out all of the fruit bearing botanicals and gorgeous plant life that make Madeira beautiful. Definitely recommend!

Madeira insideout is an amazing company, we booked the “Madeira mystery tour full day private 4x4 Jeep” which was one of the best tours we’ve ever done. We spent the day with our driver Dinarte and the tour was totally bespoke, he asked us what we wanted to see and visit then designed the tour around that, it was fantastic.
Dinarte’s knowledge and passion for the island was infectious and we visited places that you wouldn’t get to see on other “organised” tours, some of the locations were amazing, you really do get to see the best of the island. I can’t really put in to words how special this tour was but I can say that Dinarte would be the first person I will contact next time we visit Madeira.
My advice to anyone thinking of booking an island tour would be to contact Madeira insideout and have a chat with them about what you want from your tour, I’m sure you will be as impressed with them as we were, you will have a truly unique experience personally bespoke to you.
I’ve run out of superlatives so I’ll stop now but it really was an exceptional experience and I’d like to thank Dinarte and the team for a truly memorable day on Madeira, we can’t thank you enough.

The Madeira Mystery tour was amazing! Dinarte, our tour guide, shared a lot of information about the island and the traditions there. He took us to some hidden gems and impressive viewpoints, personalizing the tour based on our interests. He gave us choices for places to eat, we picked the one where traditional food was served and it was amazing! We finished the tour with a stop at a very lively spot to try the Poncha drink, which was delicious!

Dinarte personalized the tour to what we were interested in as well as worked around the weather. He was very interesting and knowledgeable, fun to talk to. We enjoyed seeing the island from a locals perspective and to explore outside Funchal. Madeira is a very beautiful place with great natural beauty. From the moment we met Dinarte as he picked us up from our cruise ship, each member of our group knew we had treat in stored for us. Although the excursion was a full day, Dinarte’s infectious enthusiasm never waned throughout the day. Born and raised in Madeira, Dinarte’s abundant historical facts, local stories and personal opinions were impressive and his recommendations for local cuisines were spot on. At the end of the tour, Dinarte took us to a local bakery where we were able to try pasteis de nata (an egg custard tart) and pao de queijo (a local cheese pastry). Kudos to Madeira Insideout for coming up with the memorable itinerary, and Thanks Dinarte for being the perfect host!!!

We had a short out time to spend in Madeira and wanted to make the most of it. We had a number of different places we heard were beautiful to see but weren’t sure which to visit as the weather was constantly changing in Madeira. We opted for a private jeep tour. Our guide Chris listen to our interests and then payed out a plan which took advantage of the weather, touched on many of our desired locations and added more we would not otherwise have thought of. Chris gave us so much information about the island and each area we visited. He was very personable and added to the great time we had.

The biggest of thank you’s to Madeira Insideout ! We had the absolute best time with Dinarte !
I do a ton of research before booking anything and was not at all enamoured by the idea of being sardined in a jeep with 5 strangers for 8 hours !
Then I thankfully stumbled on “Madeira Insideout” which instead offers private full day tours. We booked the “mystery tour” due to the excellent reviews we’d read and I can assure you it was the highlight of our vacation.
When Dinarte arrived to pick us up from our hotel, he had a huge smile on his face and this smile and general joy for life continued throughout the day!
Dinarte plans a fantastic itinerary with everything you could wish to see and more. At the start of the trip he also asked if there was anything in particular we wished to do/see ! I wanted to see the Fanal Forest which he had already included in our itinerary for the day.
Madeira is truly a gem, and an incredibly beautiful island. Having Dinarte as our guide we didn’t need to worry about finding places, parking or navigating the extremely windy and narrow mountain roads. We could just relax and focus on the beauty around us.
Dinarte was born in Madeira and the love for his island is infectious. His knowledge is profound - from the stories growing up, that of his family , the history of Madeira or the fauna & flora ! At one point (off the beaten track) within a 3m radius he found us mint leaves, bay leaves, eucalyptus and oregano ! Incredible !
Truth be told, I booked this day trip to get the lay of the land the day after landing in
Madeira. We rented a car for the remaining 4 days. Before the tour had ended my husband and I both agreed that we wanted to do another daytrip with Dinarte ! It was just fun and easy and relaxing and the wealth of knowledge that he shared with us along the way as well as at each destination, we would never had learned or seen that much on our own !
So we booked another day with Dinarte and were treated to so many more beautiful places in Madeira.
Dinarte started our trip as our guide and we ended the trip as friends.
Please don’t hesitate to book with Madeira Insideout ! Truly the absolute highlight of our entire trip to Portugal !

From start to finish this personalised tour was perfect for us (a family of five).
We gave a couple of ideas of what we were hoping to see at the start and Dinarte gave us a fantastic day, which included a few of his favourite spots away from the typical tourist trails that a lot of the other tour companies were providing.
Lots of swimming in rock pools, black volcanic beaches, local cafes for coffees and lunch, waterfalls, villages and the most incredible views along rough mountain tracks.
It was obvious that Dinarte was passionate about his heritage and country and it was a total pleasure spending a day in his company.
Wouldn't hesitate recommending this tour company to anyone visiting Madeira.
