A fabulous walk showcasing some amazing artwork and gaining an understanding into the work of the artists, the way they interconnect and collaborate.
Amazingly we also met some of the artists themselves and heard more about how they work.
Dave was so knowledgeable and answered questions on a whole range of artists, their relevance to contemporary culture and quirks of the industry. Thank you!
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Dear I and J - It was a pleasure to have you on the tour, one one which we had the pleasure of being greeted warmly by three different street artists. Thank you for your wonderful review of our tour content, Dave
Byron_H, Dec 2025
An interesting & informative tour of the “Street art” scene, what it means and how to identify it when in Shoreditch
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Dear Byron, thank you for your lovely review - Dave
Vicky_H, Oct 2025
This is a fantastic tour. So informative and interesting. We loved it. Learnt so much about street artists and what to look out for in the future.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Dear Vicky I love to hear that what we see on the tour and the information you pick up helps in the future with appreciating street art you find on your own in other locations. THank you for taking the time for write your thoughts and to rate uss. Dave
Zvi_H, Sep 2025
If you are into the scene of graffiti and street art then this tour is a five stars. For others, like us it’s too much information and details and we lost track after a couple of hours. Also, the tour is advertised as two and a half hours and it lasted for over three hours.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Dear Zvi, It was a pleasure to have you on the tour last weekend. Thank you for pointing out the error in the description, that was on a third party site that managed your booking and has now been corrected to 3 hours - Dave
Andrius_I, Aug 2025
Dave gave us a brilliant tour of Shortage Street Art. He’s got so much knowledge, and you can tell he loves sharing it. A great guide makes a great tour, and this one was spot on. The only thing missing? Banksy dropping by to say hi — but hey, maybe next time!
Response from Host, Aug 2025
HI Andrius - Thank you very much for your fantastic report and kind comments. We may not be able to provide Banksy in person but the Banksy art we saw has a great story - and we did bump into another wonderful visiting street artist. Just not Banksy! Dave
Vladimir_T, Aug 2025
Guide spoke very bad English. Complete waste of time and money. We decide to leave early. Not sure how no one controls such basic things. Had a similar guide with another company previous weekend and was hundred times better.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Dear Vladimir, Thank you very much for your report. I am very sorry that you felt your experience was not up to the extremely high standards we normally provide for our guests. We take your feedback seriously and have had a discussion about language clarity. All other feedback regarding her tours has been first class, I personally spoke to one native English speaking family group with ages ranging from 10 to 60 and they said that her presentation was clear and understandable. I will continue to monitor our performance in this respect - Dave

Sharon_S, Apr 2025
Very verbal and technical tour on meaning of street art messages, not what I expected and did not interest us after the first half hour. The guide John is also a street artist who showed his political views through his drawings and I did not appreciate paying for this platform for his views. There should have been a warning in the tour description. So we left the tour and had a wonderful time walking around Shoreditch and the market. Honestly there is no need to be led by a guide through this very walkable area.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Our tour guides are apolitical on our tours. We do address political street art as a hugely important subject. We look at its forms, the messages, the responses, the political dialogue as multiple opinions accumulate on the walls and any other aspect of the political street art which illuminates the art encountered on the tour. John spoke about political street art as is his duty, and as a political street artist himself, which is clearly stated in the email sent to all guests the night before his tour, guests are usually excited to hear from the artist about his process and the context. John confirms that he had not mentioned the particular piece you took exception to at all, it was actually you who commented on it and it was you who brought political opinions into the tour.
On our tours we convey to our guests all aspects of the art which are not necessarily apparent from the surface imagery and messaging. We discuss history and trends, we discuss the techniques, we talk about artists’ biographies, their influences, their intentions and we discuss the forensics and dynamics determining how walls accumulate the artworks, colours and textures that they exhibit. It is strange that you had not expected that as it is what our website and all our reviews say we do.
At £20 per adult for 3 hours the tour is (according to many of our guests) astonishing value for money.
I do agree that the area is very walkable and John remains a superb and popular, much loved guide.

This was truly fascinating - loved every minute and felt that I came away with new knowledge and insights about street art -- and have new tools to decipher it. I've been telling everyone that they must do this tour. My teenage son, who is studying art, enjoyed it just as much as I did.
Response from Host, Mar 2025
Dear Meg - we are delighted to hear you and your son enjoyed the tour and I thank you for suggesting the tour to everyone! - Dave
Irina_O, Jan 2025
I took this tour with Dave 6 years ago with a friend and this time with my family (kids: 10 and 13 yo). I only saw a few pieces again that I had seen 6 years ago but so many different pieces and different stories that Dave shared with us. He has a great knowledge and love for street art that comes through in the tour. He is very engaging and tells art through different stories. Great experience!
Response from Host, Jan 2025
Dear Irina, it was a pleasure to have you back on the tour again. I think there was maybe 2 pieces still up from all those years ago that we saw! I am so pleased to read that you enjoyed the tour so much and thank you very much for your 5 stars - Dave
Kerin_B, Oct 2024
I loved the entire experience. Tour guide and street artist extraordinaire, John, aka nom de plume was fun, so knowledgeable and kept the tour lively and moving. I especially enjoyed getting to know a new artistic culture that I was unfamiliar with. What a great way to enhance cities/towns "in progress" with an evolving art form. This is a definite must see while in London and I have already told friends both here and in the U.S. what a pleasure and enlightened experience this was for me. Thank you, John.
Response from Host, Oct 2024
Dear Kerin
It is lovely to read such a wonderful review, thank you so much for taking the time. Dave

This is one of the best things I did while in London. John is an amazing tour guide, and he showed us a whole new way to appreciate the city and its diverse art scene. The pieces, including his own artwork, are fantastic as is seeing things through his artist lens. I loved seeing that part of London and found the walk perfectly paced. This is not to be missed if you love street art and want to learn about the amazing art culture in London!

Our guide, MD, was so interesting and informative. I learned so much about street art and graffiti. She explained about the different styles, gave us the background about each artist and piece, talked about the history of the area, and so much more. I now have a greater appreciation for street art and graffiti. I highly recommend this tour

I loved every minute of this tour. Learning about the different types/developmental stages of street art was helpful context. Our delightful guide John, being a street artist himself, helped us understand the community of artists and highlights of those who rose to prominence from the street were to learn. And of course the art itself was fascinating and often quite beautiful!

Dear Kate - thank you for your fantastic review, we really appreciate you taking the time to share this
James_A, May 2024
What a great tour. Much talent on view and really bought to life by a great tour guide - as it turned out an accomplished artist himself. Toured much of Brick Lane, Truman Brewary and up to Old Street. Can’t say enough good things about this tour. Great value for money.
Response from Host, Jun 2024
Dear James thank you so much for your fantastic appreciation of John as a guide and as a street artist! He's great!
Becky_S, May 2024
Seeing Banksy and making the connection with Barak Obama’s presidential campaign with street artist Shepard Fairey.
Suggestions:
-pit stop for coffee, it was chilly and wet
-since you have so many connections with the street artists, have a meet and greet with a couple of them, watch them put something up or visit an artist’s shop if available
Response from Host, Jun 2024
Thank you for your review Becky, we really appreciate you taking the time to make your suggestions
