Lacking attention to detail and support

Quinton_F, Aug 2025
We selected the self tour with Eurostar ticket from London to Paris, Paris Metro tickets and Seine boat tour. Just to bullet the issues. We weren’t sent both of our Eurostar tickets initially. When we went to check in we were told the bar code was for one, not two, and we had to be issued the second ticket. Further, I couldn’t reach support - I attempted in the morning maybe a dozen times, and heard back at 4:30p. We cut our day short to head back to the station and make sure we could secure the other return seat. The Metro tickets didn’t work. We spent over an hour in the hot, crowded station, working with their customer service to replace the day tickets. Again, we lost time for hour visit. Finally, no detail was given on where to go for the river tours. I googled where to go and fortunately that was correct. Ultimately, we had a much shorter time to explore in Paris and a tough time getting support. We did not get our money’s worth.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

We’re very sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced with your self-guided Paris tour. It’s understandable that issues with Eurostar tickets, Metro access, and unclear instructions for the Seine boat tour would create significant stress and reduce your time to enjoy the city. It’s especially frustrating when support is slow to respond, leaving you to resolve time-sensitive issues on your own. We recognize that having to cut your visit short and navigate crowded stations under pressure is far from the seamless experience expected, particularly when pre-booking is meant to simplify travel. Your feedback highlights critical areas for improvement: ensuring all tickets are correctly issued in advance, providing clear instructions for each activity, and offering prompt and accessible customer support to resolve issues quickly. A full, reliable experience depends on these elements, and your concerns are valid. We hope your future travels are smoother and that any tour you book allows you to enjoy your destinations without unnecessary stress.

Horrible

Janette_R, Oct 2024
It was a nightmare. In Paris when we got off Eurostar no one there we were left to our own devices. We found our way to get seine cruise they said we didn’t have anything booked. Very disappointed and we don’t speak french I would like a refund we wanted to upgrade to guided tour was told we could not

Perfect Day Trip to Paris

Esteban_S, Mar 2019
This was great option for us. Having been to Paris before we were looking for a train trip from London to Paris. This was actually cheaper than going thru Euro rail directly. The included River Cruise pass and the Metro pass were perfect to let us explore Paris on our own. This would have been rated a 5 except our guide was late to meet us at the train station in London causing a lot of Unnecessary Worries. This is very early departure and they ask you to be there early, I would expect the Tour Group to be there waiting on us!! Other than that a Perfect Trip!

Full independent day

jessie c, Aug 2018
Full day. Train tickets turned out to be cheaper buying it here as a tour than on my own on Eurostar. Tight day if you want to sightsee everything and river cruise was ok but I would have preferred a cheaper tour ticket instead or would have opted for hop on bus ticket instead....

Shelly_B, Apr 2018
Independent means unguided which was exactly what we wanted. This left the tour company with one responsibility, provide tickets for our family of 4. I would have expected that our assigned seats would have been together. The Eurostar offers sets of 4 seats where 2 seats face the other seats. I would have understood if the tour company did not have access to this configuration of seating, but 2 of us were given seats opposite a couple that had also purchased there tour through the same company. The couple would not switch seats. This happened in both directions.

The rep. met us at St. Pancras explained everything. After that we were completely independent. We had plenty of time to enjoy Paris and the Metro day pass is a great plus. We made reservations at Les Ombres restaurant, it was marvelous, definitely recommend! We upgraded to first class our way back

The seats in the standard class are very uncomfortable for the back. On the return train the seats were closer together and the train was exceptionally warm. It is said that you get free wifi on the train...... it does not work.

dominique, Jul 2017
so worth it. you do have to get up early cause the train leaves early and you need to be at the meet up spot way before train departure. Once you get to the meet up point i got my ticket, the rep explained what my tour included and didn't. the train was very comfortable and clean and nice. I actually got a open bus tour when i got off in paris that made it easier to see all the major sites. All in all this was a great tour and worth every penny.

We booked this at the last minute, and were so glad we did! The logistics were easy, the tour representative was on top of things, and we had eight exciting hours in Paris! The high speed Eurostar is a blast!

Daniel B, Apr 2017
It's definitely worth doing. However, if you don't speak French at all (like me) it might be worth it to do a guided tour. Sometimes I felt like I was just wandering around. The train was nice and the info at the start was good too.

We loved the Eurostar train ride it...

Jodie_W, Oct 2016
We loved the Eurostar train ride it was fantastic.. so smooth and quick. Being on the independent tour it was quite confusing once we got out of the station in Paris, a metro map might be a great idea to include with the passes so people would have the time to figure out the system before they got off the train. It was kind of scary for 2 female travellers who dont speak french leaving the station with no clue how to get anywhere so we just started walking to a less busy section so we could take some time to sort it out. Once we did though we had a great time. The cruise was awesome. We saw the eiffel tower up close and enjoyed sitting in a cafe watching the people go by while we drank tea and ate way too much bread : Overall it was a great day!

Instead of using the travel card...

NorSalinabt_J, Jun 2016
Instead of using the travel card which was provided in the tour, we went on a hop on/off bus which was easier for a quick tour of Paris.
