It was a long day but extremely worth it! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and and personable. She was a good communicator.
Cynthia_N, Apr 2026
There are steep hills to climb up and down at the Diver Castle. There is a shuttle for those who require it. Guided tours of the tunnels are on a schedule starting at 11am. The military tunnel is a 45 minute guided tour is pretty flat with stops to watch videos. The hospital tunnel is a 20 minute tour.
The cliffs were beautiful and there is a flat walking path with scenic views.
Canterbury Cathedral is interesting and located in a busy town.
Our bus driver and knowledgeable guide did an excellent job-5 stars for them.
Carl_E, Apr 2026
Really enjoyed the tour. Stephen was very knowledagble with the history of the areas. Helped with our schedule as where to start first, such as the tunnels. Have to give a shout out to our driver Val as well. Great trop all around.
Stacy_H, Apr 2026
Steve was a great guide! Very knowledgeable and personable. The sites were incredible -- loaded with history!

This tour was a perfect excursion in which everyone in our family of seven (representing 3 generations) found something to love. Dover Castle and the grounds were a delight, and everyone there was exceptionally friendly. There are a few restaurants on the property, which was unexpected. The White Cliffs of Dover are a beautiful sight. We got lucky with the weather and we could see France across the Channel. Canterbury Cathedral inspired awe, and there was time to explore Canterbury before departing.

What a wonderful tour! We saw so much! I wish we had spent more time at the Cliffs of Dover. The downside is the time constraints. We didn't have nearly enough time to walk towards the better views of Dover. I really wish the bus had dropped us off on one side and let us hike over to the other side where they could have picked us up and continued to the next location. We enjoyed going to Canterbury - the new Archbishop was walking through the town for the first time and it was very exciting. I cannot stress enough how stunningly beautiful the Cathedral and grounds are. Definitely - give yourself time to look through it. BTW - the bathrooms are outside of the Cathedral - and they are NOT port-o-potties!
Canterbury outside of the cathedral is very lovely. Lots of cute shops, as well as larger more well known stores. One word of caution, on Sundays the shops close earlier in the day, so we found ourselves back at the coach much earlier than we would have wanted to be.

Fast moving tour with an excellent narrated overview from our knowledgeable tour guide. Lots of walking on uneven surfaces in order to see the sites properly. However, these are amazing places to visit and well worth it!
Tifany_N, Mar 2026
This day trip is worth every penny and was an incredible experience. Very well organized for a large group which is always a concern. Calum the guide was exceptional. Dover castle is stunning and so fun for families. The cliffs were a lovely sight. Canterbury was also so interesting and fun to wander some. Easily one of our family’s favorite experiences.
Colleen_S, Mar 2026
It's a busy day to see the sights. There is a fair amount of walking on the tour; not a problem for most people but those who are not mobile may not see everything. Our tour guide was excellent, but some of the success of the trip likely depends on the weather for viewing the White Cliffs.
Catherine_G, Mar 2026
Lovely tour! The tour guide Nick and our driver were incredibly knowledgeable and well organized. Never felt rushed, but still got to see everything in a timely manner. Would absolutely recommend!
Frank_M, Mar 2026
Do it in off-season or shoulder season as we did it. We did it in March. My family enjoyed it very much. Be prepared to walk a lot. Our guide, Sophie was extraordinary.

We had a great experience on the Dover Cliffs, Canterbury Cathedral, and Dover Castle tour thanks to our guide, Tem. He was very accommodating and clearly passionate about history, sharing interesting niche facts about each location. He also did a great job looking after the group, frequently going around to make sure everyone was aware of schedule changes or updates.
Tem seemed a bit younger and perhaps still gaining experience, and his voice over the bus speaker was sometimes a little quiet and monotone. However, he was knowledgeable and attentive, which made the tour enjoyable.
The main drawback was the bus design. It was very lavish, with seats facing multiple directions, several screens, and a center divider for snacks and the restroom. On the way back, a documentary played on the screens which was distracting and made me feel a bit nauseous. Because you can’t really look forward and the windows are tinted, people prone to carsickness may find the ride uncomfortable.
Overall, Tem did a great job and his enthusiasm for history made the tour worthwhile.

This tour was a wonderful experience and the easiest way to get to see Dover and Canterbury from London. The whole day was incredibly well-organized and from start to finish, our tour guide and bus driver were exceptionally professional and friendly. There was just enough time at each stop to see the most iconic sights: Dover Castle, the White Cliffs, and Canterbury Cathedral. It was a great experience and we would highly recommend!
darcy_z, Feb 2026
Dover Castle and its tunnels were very interesting. The view from the castle was wonderful. Enjoyed walking the Dover cliffs and was glad it was a nice day. The Canterbury Cathedral was more spectacular than I expected. After touring the Cathedral there wasn’t much time to walk around the city.
Our tour guide, Mike the tour guy, did a great job explaining the history and was very helpful. He was very knowledgeable and welcomed questions. He really made the tour enlightening.
Elliott_H, Jan 2026
We had so much fun! Our tour guide Mike was so nice and knowledgeable. He was patient with us and answered all of our questions and gave us tons of advice on where and what to do while visiting London. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time - there was plenty of time at each location to sightsee, eat, wander and shop. Everyone in my family enjoyed each section of the trip, and our coach bus with the little tables was lovely.

Our tour was coordinated by Anderson Tours of London. They were truly EXCEPTIONAL! Our tour guide, Nick was MAGNIFICENT and spent the day educating us about the history and culture of the British. He was HIGH-ENERGY and very computed to making this a spectacular day for us. Our driver, Mario, was by comparison extremely reserved and quiet. Nevertheless, he was always polite and professional. The two of them made for a wonderful tandem & delivered EXCELLENT service. My wife and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND any tour organized by Anderson tours & even more so if Nick is your guide!! What a spectacular ALL day tour of England!!! 5-stars

The tour was great. The guide gave us historic overview and explained each site then we got to explore on our own. With Dover Castle I skipped the underground tour to have enough time to enjoy the main castle, the church, the Roman lighthouse and the spectacular views. Canterbury cathedral was also amazing. This was a great way to see a lot of spectacular historic sites
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Dear Anna
Thank you for your kind review and we are happy to hear you had a great time on the Canterbury & Dover tour.
The Roman Lighthouse is often missed but a really interesting part of the castle, with the 1000 year old Saxon chapel next to it.

Very interesting tour with enough time at each stop to enjoy it. At Dover Castle we were able to go on the Secret War Tunnels tour, as well as tour the main castle. We had plenty of time at the cliffs to get plenty of great pictures and grab lunch. We had time in Canterbury to tour the cathedral, visit beautiful gardens nearby, and tour the town with a stop for gelato. Our tour guide was very informative, helpful, and funny. I would recommend this tour for anyone, families included, who is mobile, because there is plenty of walking with hills and stairs. It was a very fun day!
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Dear Elizabeth
Thank you for your kind review and we are happy to hear you enjoyed your day out in Kent. This is a lovely, if not vigorous, tour and all three locations are interesting and beautiful in their own ways.
We are happy to hear the guide was helpful, informative and funny, definitely a good combination!

The sites were amazing. It was a very small coach. But the reason for the low rating outs it wasn’t a guided tour as expected or s as usual with other Viator tours. It was escorted, I.e. the “guide” walked us to the 3 locations, gave us some tips and the said “ see you back at the coach”. E we go on these tours not for transportation, but local knowledge. Very unhappy with this one.
Also, we had no way to reach our Guide. We had decided to stay for dinner and take the train back on our own. We couldn’t reach him. It was very difficult to get a hold of anybody at Vidor. We tried the tour Operator chat multiple times and nobody answered finally we called Support who were able to reach our driver.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Dear Eric
Thank you for your feedback and I shared your review with the guide to ask if he was aware of any issues, and he said you and the group all seemed fine.
I contacted the guide because he has been with us a long time and is very knowledgeable and experienced. He frequently gets 5 star reviews so I was surprised to read this, although he did say he spoke to you in the end and you stayed for dinner in Canterbury.
We are happy to hear you enjoyed the sites.

Andy was great very informative. Feel the last stop could have been a bit shorter, all of us were done with the cathedral in about 90 mins
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Dear Divya
Thank you for your kind review and we are glad to hear that Andy was a great guide and you enjoyed your day.
After you have visited the cathedral there are other places you can visit such as the Roman Museum, the ancient St Martin's church or walk through the cobbled streets by the river.

Having taken many Viator tours, I have many positive experiences with wonderful guides that helped create great memories. This tour was however a disappointment. While the itinerary was attractive, the tour guide was barely engaged and very light on communication of logistics. A lot of confusion simply because of her lack of communication. She failed to do "headcount" and unknowingly left 1 person from the group behind and had the bus take off to the next stop. That individual (don't know if he got lost at the Dover Castle or was late; have no information) needed to get in contact with the tour company to arrange for the bus to pick him up. Underwhelming. Everyone on the tour was timely and kind.
While she provided the required historical information and facts, she spent the day lacking interaction with the group unless anyone approached her. It was a warm, happy wonderful group. Unless it was an anomaly of a bad day given technical issues of microphone not initially working, I sincerely hope no one gets stuck with Maggie as tour guide. She only was friendly and thankful of the group when asking to tip at the end of the tour. As an experienced and easy going global traveler, this is the only one from countless tours I've taken in Europe and elsewhere in which I have left anything short of 5 star review and the only one I have not tipped the guide. Aware that I hadn't tipped, she was grouchy when I asked where I could get a taxi.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Hi Amy
We heard from Maggie this morning who was surprised and upset about your review. Surprised because she had spoken to you through out the tour, telling her about your studies in the UK. She said you were very nice and complimentary during the tour so she's surprised to read this. If there was something wrong on the tour we do encourage people to say something or call / email the office.
The gentleman who was left at Dover Castle was just a bit lost and the driver went back to pick him up. He was a bit stressed but fine in the end, he even emailed us here at the office to say it was all good and gave the driver and guide a tip at the end. The Castle and the Cliffs are only 5 minutes away from each other so its easy enough to drop off the main group and go back for late comers.
Kind Regards

This was one of our favorite tours during our trip! Canterbury Cathedral was unbelievably amazing, the white cliffs were beautiful and we could have spent all day at Dover Castle! We appreciated that this tour spent a good amount of time in each location and our guide was kind, communicative and upbeat. This tour is well worth it!

If you have mobility issues (I have a bad left knee), this is a difficult tour. The mobility cart was not running because the guy was on vacation, and there was one scooter, but it was in use. This is a fascinating castle--I wish that I had been able to see more of it. The tunnels are very interesting. A worker named Sylvia was very, very helpful in directing me.
The tour guide was hilarious, and driver was good.
The Cliffs were great to see, and I really enjoyed Canterbury Cathedral.

Fabulous day trip. Knowledgeable host. Brilliant views and walk to the White Cliffs of Dover and all the way to France. Dover Castle and the WW2 history was fascinating. Cantebury and Cantebury Cathedral were very worthwhile too.
