Our guide, Sherif Mahmoud, was excellent! He knew everything about the history of the place and was able translate Arabic texts to us. He also took very good care of the group and was kind and attentive. I could not have wished anything more.

    Great day at the alhambra

    The tour we had far exceeded our expectations. To start we were coming from a cruise port on an excursion bus withh only guestimated arrival and departure times. The company did its best to accommodate this ahead of time. Bilal met us on time and gave us a one hour tour of the garden and one hour tour of the palaces. His knowledge of the Islamic calligraphy and architecture was amazing. We left the tour wishing only for more time. Bilal then walked us to a cab area and helped us secure a taxi back to our bus. The kindness and availability of this company was only exceeded by the information from Bilal

    Alhambra tour with Tarek

    A fantastic experience with great local knowledge from the guide, Tarek. Tarek met us promptly at the meeting place that was communicated to us the day before. After an explanation about some of the history and the timings of the building of Alhambra we were taken around the Generalife. The local knowledge of Tarek was just as good as the outstanding views of the city. After some time exploring the summer palace we came back and in to the medina. We stopped at key places for explanations about the complex. Again the experience of having a local guide who really knew about the history of the Alhambra was very much worth it. After a short break the nasrid palaces tour took place. Again having the knowledge of the guide to point out small details and why some of the choices were made around building was incredible. Tarek noted what our party of 3 people was interested in very quickly and tailored the tour and explanations to what we were interested in. A very good experience made all the better by having such a great guide.

    Brought the writings on the walls to life

    Sherif has a special background that brought the Arabic text on the walls to life in a way I don't think other tour guides could match. He was able to read, translate, and the explain their significance along with how they fit into the patterns of Muslim architecture. It was fascinating!

    Best Tour we have ever had with Viator with superior guide

    Having a private tour cost more but well worth it given the access we had with our guide and the personal service. Tarek was our guide and he is Egyptian that has lived in Granada for almost 50 years and has a History degree and knowledge that surpasses anyone we could have had. Tarek is an excellent communicator and presenter with deep knowledge that gave us such insight into the Alhambra Medina and surrounding Garden of Generlife and the Nasrid Palaces developed by the Moors before the Christian took it over. He also has command of Arab language so much of the motifs in the walls he could interpret for us.

    Amazing Alhambra Day

    This was a truly one of a kind way to experience the Alhambra. While a personal tour guide can seem pricey, our time with Sherif was so worth the expense. He took us throughout the entire Generalife, Nasrid Palaces, and gardens. He was incredibly knowledgeable and satisfied the questions of a history buff while making the stories of the site accessible to history novices as well. He speaks Arabic as well as Spanish and English, so could translate inscriptions on walls as well walked. We took things at our own pace, stopping for a bathroom break or coffee when needed and taking more time when we wanted. Sherif even took photos of us- he knows the perfect shots that best capture the Alhambra’s beauty. We ended up taking 4+ hours to see the site, but it could go as long or short as you want. Don’t hesitate to book this tour, it’s awesome!

    The Alhambra is beautiful series of palaces and gardens. Sherif was an excellent guide. He is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Alhambra, Grenada and the Andalusian region. Sherif was engaging and entertaining when discussing the palace. We were very grateful for all the insight he gave us. His tour made our visit so much better. We also appreciated the small group size (we were just 4 people).

    Wonderful tour with expert guide

    I had a great experience on a private tour with Sharif. Perfect pacing and very informative explanations, and he has a great eye for where to take the best photos! He is working on a PhD on the history of the Alhambra so he is a serious expert on the topic, but he explained it in a very accessible way. One point to note is that the actual timing for the Palaces visit is confirmed after midnight on the day of the tour, so it's good to maintain a flexible schedule for the day.

    It's good to book early since tickets to the castle sell out quickly. A tour guide is great since there is so much to learn about the history. Sherif was responsive even when we booked the night before the tour. He was an outstanding tour guide with a deep love and understanding of the history and cultures of the times.     Amazing palace, average guide

    Well I booked these tickets to be able to see the lovely Alhambra palace which was fully sold out of ordinary tickets. The palace is extraordinary and very beautiful. My guide Behal was unfortunately not as interested in the experience- he talked to the ground for most of the time. While he did offer information on the details and carvings inside which we were all eager to hear, he seemed distracted and rushed us from room to room. For the exclusive price I expected a bit more enthusiasm and asking us if we had questions etc. I was grateful to be able to see this masterpiece and thanked him graciously, but if he could speak more clearly and use humour/little jokes or facts that would have been nice.

    Great experience, great tour, but on the pricey side

    The Alhambra is amazing and is definitely something you should see when in (or close to) Granada. The more or less private tour we did (one other couple was with us) with Sherif was also great, very knowledgable and relaxed guy. Also enhancing our experience was the fact that he volunteered to take some nice photos of us during the tour. Only thing we did not like is the quite steep price (€180 per person) we paid, but we had no other option since more regular priced tickets/tours are sold out weeks in advance.

Just to clarify it a bit because we understand the point of the price, however Viator platform takes almost 35% out of the money, added to it the tickets price, added to it the guidance service and of course the one who is in charge to sorting everything out to search for tickets (almost dedicating his life to get tickets to our customers). So total our profit is about 30-40€ out of the reservation. Thanks again for everything and looking forward to have you again on tour with us!

    In Depth Alhambra

    It was an excellent and in depth tour. Sherif, already working on his doctorate, was very knowledgeable and helped us truly experience the “Alhambra” in a very authentic way. He helped us understand how Alhambra grew over centuries and the changes each ruler took on. The time flew even though we were there 3-4 hours.

Regarding the “showed up late” in your reservation you put a phone number that we tried to call you lots of times and you didn’t answer. Second, we from the reservation department tried to contact you from the Viator platform here and by phone and on both you didn’t answer us (in the phone registered calls) The guide showed up at the time 14:00 o’clock as he sent us a message that he found you at 14:06.     Alhambra is the best historical destination in Spain, I enjoyed every bit of the the tour...But what made it really counts is Sherif, our tour guide, he is impressive & by far the best tour guide I've encountered, he is respectful, very knowledgeable, & can fluently speak many languages including Arabic, English, & Spanish...I recommend him to anyone who wants to have a meaningful & unforgettable historical tour anywhere in Spain & even outside of it.

He explained the history, geography and importance of the various palaces and overall site in a way that has stayed with us.     Only way we could get tickets, but well worth the price. Knowledgeable guide, who took his time pointing out all points of interest, many of which we would have missed in a large group tour. Guide also sent us links of videos for us to view which will provide further information on Alhambra. Balil was an excellent guide.
