Learn how to make two of Italy's most popular and delicious foods during this Florence cooking class.
As you get started with your chef, learn about the history of pizza-making in Italy, and the distinct characteristics between pies from each Italian region. Sample an array of pizza flavors as you go and then throw your own creation in the oven to bake.
Continue with a lesson in dessert, as you receive instruction on crafting traditional Italian gelato. While this sweet treat does share similarities to ice cream found in other countries, it typically has a lower amount of butterfat and a unique freezing process that accounts for its dense, flavorful consistency. As your instructor shows you the secrets of the trade, enjoy plenty of samples to satisfy your sweet tooth.
After your class concludes, take home your insider’s tips from your chef to impress your friends in the kitchen.

This was one of the highlights of our trip. The chef, Lisa, was encouraging and patient. Class age ranged from 5- 80 and we all learned something new. Everyone succeeded in making a wonderful 10" (or larger pizza.) then we enjoyed eating it. She also included two of the children in the gelato making demo. They were thrilled and the chocolate geato was amazing. They sent us home with recipes too. I can't say enough good things about our experience. Can't wait to try my hand at making my own pizza

What an excellent way to spend 3 hours. Especially during the heat in the summer, this was a welcome stop along our exploring of Florence.
Our chef/teacher was Lisa, and she was fantastic. She taught us alot about the process of making both the dough for the pizza and gelato. She was funny, engaging and patient.
The pizza was amazing, especially since we made it. We found a new topping as well, pickled onion!!!
We didn't actually get to make our own gelato. Lisa picked 2 kids to make and blend the gelato, and they did a fantastic job.
She did teach us about proper gelato, and how to spot the difference between good and fake gelato. An absolute game changer for the rest of our trip.
If I ever get back to Florence, I would do this class again. Well worth the money and time.

Amazing! We were a group of 8.
Loved the entire experience! Vittoria, our chef, made the experience so fun!
She was professional, attentive and kind.
We would definitely recommend this experience in Florence.

This was a laid back, slow paced, perfect family activity to celebrate and lean about Italian cooking and history.
Christopher_R, Jul 2026
Had a great time and learned a lot about making authentic Italian pizza. Class was fun and entertaining for the adults as well as for my kids (ages 8 and 11). We would definitely take another class with this operator.

We had such an amazing time at this pizza & Gelato making class! The instructors Alice & Victoria were friendly, patient, and made the experience so much fun from beginning to end. We learned a lot, laughed the whole time, and the pizza turned out absolutely delicious. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting, it was worth every minute!

A lot of fun. Unlimited wine and really learned a lot. Going home to make pizza, bread and Gelato! Didn’t realize how easy it was

Fun activity for the whole family. Great instructor in Siri who made the class informative and fun. Pizza making was more hands on than the gelato (more observing. Both were delicious. Activity was nut allergy friendly if you let them know in advance.

Highly recommend this activity for a large group. There were 10 of us traveling together (6 adults, 4 kids) and we had our own kitchen and chef. Matteo was not only a wonderful and patient teacher, he also provided a lot of history about the food and Florence and also provided a list of gelaterias and restuarants to try. Towns of Italy Cooking School was where the class took place and it was right near Il Mercato Centrale which is worth a visit. The school was clean and air conditioned. We made delicious pizza and gelato. There was also unlimited wine, water, and soft drinks. Kids and adults had a wonderful time. Matteo also took group pics, helped us get cabs, and shared all the recipes with us. We loved this experience!

The instructors were amazing. They were very friendly and thorough. They took their time to explain everything. The food is delicious.

Don’t think twice, just do it! I loved the techniques learned and the one and one attention that we each received to ensure we were applying the correct techniques. Most of all, you get to mix your own ingredients and flavor, and create a pizza to your liking. Mine was delicious!

This was a super fun experience, it was our second cooking class in our travels across Italy but this one was WAY more enjoyable than pasta making.
We were a group of 7 so it was just us and another family of 4 and were all there to have fun! We got in right on time and the lessons were great, super easy for 13 year old kids to successfully follow and even us grown folk. Federico and Roberta are amazing together switching seamlessly between Pizza and Gelato.
Did I LOVE the food we made? Not really but who would I complain to… the chef? We had a blast, laughed and learned, we left with recipes we might even try at home.

This was so much fun and everyone was so lovely! They guided us perfectly to making the best pizza and gelato! Loved the cute little polaroid shot they gifted us as well. Core memory from our trip for sure!

Roberta and Sirio are terrific instructors. My daughter and I left the class feeling confident we could successfully make both pizza and gelato at home. We certainly enjoyed what we made in the class.

We had a fantastic experience at the Florence cooking class, Art of Making Gelato and Authentic Pizza! Lisa was an amazing teacher and chef—friendly, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. She explained each step clearly and shared interesting tips and techniques that made the class both educational and fun.
The hands-on experience was excellent, and Lisa created a welcoming atmosphere that made everyone feel comfortable participating. Best of all, the pizza and gelato we made were absolutely delicious! It was a wonderful way to learn about Italian cuisine while enjoying great food.
I highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Florence who wants a memorable and authentic culinary experience.

A truly great experience in Florence you wouldn’t want to miss it. The chef is so informative, great personality great staff, and we’ve learned a lot about cooking authentic Italian pizza enchilada.

This was such a fun experience for me and my husband. We love making pizza and it was nice learning how to make it authentically in Florence. Chef Sirio was very knowledgeable, fun and entertaining. We were so surprised to learn it was his first time teaching solo- great job Siro! And he was great with the kids in our group. Thank you for the fun and memorable experience:)
Stefanie_W, May 2026
The chef was talented, funny and a great instructor. The food was delicious and it was a fun! All participants enjoyed. The pizza sauce and toppings were so fresh.
maryjowebb0787, May 2026
Very fun experience. Enjoyed our chef Siri very much. The only suggestion I would have is to have all adults instead a group and families with young children in a separate group.
Cynthia_H, May 2026
The Pizza and Gelato Cooking Experience was one of the highlights of our trip. Roberta and Siro were fantastic instructors! They were knowledgable, patient and friendly. We would definitely take another cooking class at Towns of Italy Cooking School!
