Mario is an amazing tour guide. His tour is unique, animated, informative and interactive. He really cares about the art, history, and teaching the meaning behind the most famous art pieces in the world. Best tour we have ever taken. He learned everyone’s names and was friendly the entire tour. I was never bored!

This was the perfect length tour for my family, which included a 6 and 8 year old. Mario was super engaging and does a masterful job building on the knowledge you’re learning to allow for everyone to keep up and understand more about Michelangelo’s process. Highly recommended!!

Guide is a Florence...

Karen_H, Jul 2026
Guide is a Florence native with great personal charisma and a unique perspective on the meaning of Michelangelo’s art. Without trying to summarize his perspective, it will provoke thought and conversation, even self examination.

The very BEST tour we ever took

Elly_D, Jul 2026
Wow, wow, WOW!!! Possibly the VERY BEST we ever took!!!! Mario, our tour guide, is not only a guide, but an art historian with powerful understanding of how art, culture, philosophy, and faith intertwine. His ability to take into perspective greater picture of the time and intertwine with today - made the entire tour so much more than just a museum talk… all while remembering each tour group members name, engaging everyone’s getting kids to participate, adults experiencing artworks in the most fundamental way. Above and beyond any possible expectations!!

One of a kind tour!!

Our tour guide Mario did an amazing job discussing the creation process of Michelangelo's David! He has a lot of energy and interacted with all of us on the tour! My family would definitely book a tour with him next time we are in Florence!!

Engaging & Fun

Mario knows Michaelangelo

Tina_K, Jun 2026
Mario was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of in depth information. He is very passionate about the subject matter.

This is a must do for anyone visiting Florence.

Lisa_R, Jun 2026
So worth getting the perspective of our specific tour guide, Mauricio. Such a greater appreciation for the David, but also prepared us to see the Sistine Chapel in Rome. Skip-the-line is the only way to go!

Mario was a very knowledgeable guide regarding a deeper understanding of Michael Angelo creations sharing a deep, spiritual meaning that his creations were born from.

Fascinating Experience!

Justin_C, Jun 2026
Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an energetic and fascinating experience beyond just getting a few photos for social media. Mario was a knowledgeable, charismatic, and engaging guide making an effort to learn everyone’s names and involve them in the experience, especially the young ones in the group. We entered the museum at the expected time and began with a view of David and an introduction to Mario’s interesting theories on Michelangelo’s process and deeper meanings in the art. Like the opening paragraph in an essay, this set the tone for the remainder of the tour where we went back to the beginning of the museum and Mario began to illustrate how he’s come to his conclusions. As others have noted, he does mention his written works and that he does other tours but less in an “upsell” manner and more to inform about opportunities to gain more from his in depth research. Given the size of the group and how crowded the museum was, we were each given a radio and earpiece which allowed us to hear Mario no matter where we stood. The tour focuses on the main hall of the museum so, if you want to see the side rooms with paintings and other sculptures, be sure to allot an extra 15-30 minutes. I’m very glad that we booked this tour and I expect we’ll be looking up Mario again on our next visit to this amazing city!

To sum it up in a quick quote. He is the best of the best.

To sum it up in a quick quote. He is the best of the best. Truly an in-depth and engaging experience.

One of the highlights of my trip

Sam_R, May 2026
Booked this completely last minute on the same day and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip. Mario was an exceptional guide — engaging, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the work. The tour felt interactive rather than a standard lecture, which made the whole experience come alive. I walked away with a real appreciation for Michelangelo’s genius that I simply wouldn’t have gotten wandering through on my own. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Florence, especially if you’re new to art history — Mario has a wonderful way of making it accessible and exciting for everyone

Do NOT take this tour

Shirley_P, May 2026
Tour guide was late and arrived with dirty clothes on. Tour was suppose to start at 11:30 and didn’t start until 12:00. He talked about the creation of Adam the entire time

Response from Host, May 2026

This is an offensive and false review and does not deserve a response

Tour guide was late… But ended up being a great experience

Lora_S, May 2026
Our tour guide started off, not making me happy. He was a few minutes late and we had been told to be there 15 minutes early. And my husband and I both appreciate punctuality… But he quickly made me like him with his enthusiasm and personality. It was very fun to learn all about Michelangelo with him. And my husband, I learned so much that day… but again I think the tour guide needs to show up 15 minutes early so when we get there, we can find them.

Surprisingly good

Scot_T, May 2026
If you read the description and still aren't sure what this tour is really about, I thought the same thing. After going on the tour, I must say I was pleasently surprised by how engaging and entertaining Mario was as a tour guide. It's not like a tour that talks about the same facts you can read up on using the Internet; Mario makes it all about the art itself and the message behind Michealangelos work. He kept the tour lively and did a great job and keeping the attendees engaged (I was impressed by how he remembered everyones names and spoke with such excitement about the subject). I went with 3 people I knew and we couldn't help but quote the things he said in the following days during out stay in Florence. Go with an open mind and you won't be disappointed.

Very engaging

Karina_R, May 2026
Mario was great. We learned a lot and I enjoyed the experience. It was a bit too much critical thinking involved as Mario’s tour method was very engaging and we preferred to just listen and zone out if we desired too but that’s on us, not him. This tour is very engaging and personal. If you want to zone out, book a large group tour.

Mario's enthusiasm is contagious! Thought provoking tour.

emma_t, Apr 2026
This tour was honestly such a great experience. It’s not just a quick go look at the David and move on, Mario really pulls you into the whole story, the creative process, the emotion, the intention. I'd never pick up the details just wandering around on my own. You can tell he’s genuinely passionate about this subject and makes you excited too. What I loved most is how interactive it is. Mario doesn’t just talk at you, he asks these really thoughtful questions that make you stop and think about what you’re seeing. And when you get something right, he’s so encouraging, lots of praise, big smiles, even the occasional high‑five. It makes the whole thing feel fun and personal, not like a typical museum tour. I walked away with a completely new appreciation for Michelangelo and the David. If you want something meaningful, engaging, and led by someone who truly cares about helping you understand the art on a deeper level, this is absolutely worth booking. Huge bonus too is the skipping the line. We arrived early and already the queues were crazy. With skip the line, we went straight to the front!

Mario was incredible!! 10/10 recommend

Laura_W, Apr 2026
Mario was so knowledgeable and guided the tour group seamlessly through the museum teaching us throughout with interactive activities and all tied back to the overall message. The perfect amount of time as well!

We had an excellent tour with Mario. He was a very engaging and knowledgeable guide, thanks Mario. Everything was very easy to find as well

Once in a lifetime tour experience!

Joanna_S, Apr 2026
We did the Michelangelo creative process tour with Mario and it was the best guided tour experience we had in Italy! His passion, knowledge, and inclusivity had us smiling from ear to ear while we learned so many facts about Michelangelo that I would not have learned without him. This is not your typical tour explaining picture by picture, this is truly all about the mind of Michelangelo with an introspective perspective of life that will leave you reminiscent and grateful. We are truly fortunate to have him as a guide and would wholly recommend him to anyone looking to add a once in a lifetime experience in Florence!

Michelangelo exploration

Stephen_H, Apr 2026
A really engaging tour, led by Mario, who spoke good English and offered a fresh, philosophical take on David. He focused on his unique idea of the "moment in progress": Mario also made a great connection to the Sistine Chapel and his other statues, showing how Michelangelo explored this same concept throughout his works. Not too long, insightful, and definitely worth it.

Disappointed

Diane_S, Apr 2026
Pre-booked and paid £123 for a “skip-the-line” visit to see Michelangelo’s David in Florence. On arrival, we were told we had to pay an additional €24 each just to enter the museum, which left us questioning what the original £123 actually covered. We were then handed an audio guide system, along with earphones that were clearly not new or disposable—they had already been used by someone else. Normally, you would expect to receive a new disposable earpiece, so this felt unhygienic and quite off-putting. In the end, we paid the extra fee (which the guide had initially covered), but decided not to continue. We handed back the audio equipment and left the group before the tour even started, so we can’t comment on the tour itself. A very disappointing experience for what should have been a highlight of the trip.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m truly sorry that there was some confusion at the beginning of the visit. I would like to clarify an important point: the museum entrance ticket is not included in the tour price, and this is clearly stated in the tour description. The 35€ per person covers the guided experience, while the €25 museum ticket must always be purchased separately. This information is highlighted on the tour profile and is also repeated in the follow‑up emails sent before the visit. You also answered "ok" to my mail about the museum ticket cost! Regarding the audio system: the radios are equipped with sanitized over‑ear “shell” earpieces, which are cleaned and disinfected. They are not disposable, but they are hygienically prepared for each guest. I’m sorry that you chose not to Start the tour, especially since I had already covered the additional ticket cost to help you enter without delay. I hope that, despite this misunderstanding, you were still able to enjoy your time in Florence.... Please for the next time I suggest you well read the tour profile and mail communication !
