Do not miss this one-of-a-kind museum and do ride in the Tradant!

Judit Holp was a fantastic guide. She is fun and extremely knowledgeable, plus she knows how to drive the 50-year-old Tradant - people stared and waved as we drove in the Tradant to the museum located 30 minutes outside the town. We felt like rock stars. We learned so much about Communism in Hungary while taking photos of the 41 very different Communist statues. This is the only museum in Central Europe that preserved the Communist statues after gaining independence from Russia. There is a small shop where you can buy water, soda and Communist souvenirs. There is also a small museum.

A visit to Memento Park is a must do when you visit Budapest and the icing on the cake is the transfer there and back in a 46 year old Trabant! Our guide Judit was brilliant, so knowledgeable and informative. You learn so much in a friendly and fun way. She is a real gem!

Trabant tour of Memento Park

We had a wonderful time on the Memento Park tour with our awesome guide Judit. She picked us up at our hotel in her awesome 1974 Trabant and drove us to the park. The Trabant is a small car that was made in former East Germany. What an ironic way to travel to a park dedicated to monumental statues and plaques from Hungary’s Communist period. I am so glad we took this tour with Judit, instead of going to the park on our own. Judit is very knowledgeable regarding, the history behind the founding of the park, the Hungary’s Communist history and all the statues and plaques within the park. The tour was very informative and enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour with Judit. You will not be disappointed!

This experience was a highlight of our trip. Our guide Henri was knowledgeable about the history of the statues and was able to provide great background on Hungary's political, socialital history. Pick up was right in time. We loved traveling in the Trabant! Highly recommend this tour iand ask for Henri. He made the experience unforgettable!!!

To be able to ride in such an emblematic vehicle today - was a remarkable thing. We loved the whole experience - the sound, the smell and the pace through Budapest to waves from pedestrians who love the sight of a Trabant – and we loved the feeling of going to Memento Park in a vehicle that represented so much of the rigors and demands of that era. The whole experience was very moving and very real in its sensations. Our guide – Judit - was superb. We could not have wished for anyone better. She knew exactly how to describe the time and the feelings and the momentum that led to the removal of the statues from public life - and to their erection in a park so thoughtfully dedicated to the memory of those whose lives were lost.
