Stroll across the streets of Budapest with a local guide on this tour. Beginning at the Hungarian State Opera House, hop on the metro for a quick ride out to City Park, beloved by locals and visitors alike, and Heroes’ Square. There, see the impressive statues of Hungary’s most important national leaders. After taking a walk through the park, come to the Vajdahunyad Castle, constructed in 1896 as part of the Millennial Exhibition, which celebrated 1,000 years since the Hungarian Conquest of the Carpathian Basin.
Your next stop is the popular Szechenyi Spa, Europe’s largest thermal bath, before taking the metro back into the city center.
From there, encounter the neo-classical structure of St. Stephen’s Basilica, one of the two tallest buildings in Budapest. Afterward, take a load off your feet in a Hungarian cafe where you can relax with a hot drink and delicious dessert included in the price of your ticket.
After your snack, walk along the Danube Promenade, taking in the panorama of Gellert Hill and the Citadel, while snapping a photo of the Chain Bridge. Conclude your tour in the Buda Castle District, where you can take the last of your photos from the stunning lookout at Fisherman's Bastion.

It was a great tour covering all the main attractions. Well paced and a very knowledgeable guide. Great for a first time visitors.

Excellent walking tour of Budapest. Bonus was taking public transportation - both the train and bus! We saw many sights, our guide was excellent and answered many questions as well as provided insight about the Hungarian people and culture. The stop for strudel and drinks was a delight. We saw how the strudel was made, and it was a delicious treat! Our guide was also helpful in giving us ideas of things to do while we were in Budapest over the next few days.

Our Tour Guide Gregg, A., Hungarian local from the Buddha side of the city, was an excellent guide. He was clearly very knowledgeable on the history and the politics of the city and this region. He was very specific with dates and names of people, etc. the only thing I would have to say that was slightly negative and prevented me from giving it. A five star review is that he walked ahead of us on several occasions and wasn’t talking. These were opportunities for him to give us more information I thought. The strudel stock was excellent. Highly recommend this Tour.

A great overview of Budapest. Loved the small group dynamic too. Strudel stop was delicious and necessary in the very high heat.

Tour guide was super friendly and knowledgeable! Asked about our history and shared his own in addition to the city/country.
Lynn_S, Jul 2026
Greg our guide was fantastic! Slow paced walking tour with travel on bus, tram and train. Strudels were delicious. Highly recommend this tour.

The small-group tour of Budapest with Balint was truly exceptional. We've taken many guided tours over the years, but this was by far the best. Having grown up in Budapest, Balint has an incredible knowledge of the city's history, architecture, and culture, and his passion for sharing it is evident throughout the tour.
The experience was warm, personal, and engaging. Balint was flexible and tailored the tour to our interests, making it feel less like a guided tour and more like exploring the city with a knowledgeable friend. We came away with a much deeper appreciation for Budapest.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Budapest.

We ended up with a private tour, and we had a truly great time. We got to see so much of the city and learned so much about the history of Budapest and Hungary. Exactly what we wanted in a tour…and the strudel shop was amazing!
Allie_S, Jul 2026
The tour was good. Good historical information. We did not receive a complimentary public transport ticket to return to downtown. Everything else was as described.
Paul_S, Jul 2026
Greg was very knowledgeable and gave us a great tour of Budapest. He took us to all of the main sights, explained the history, and answered everyone's questions. The tour was a mix of walking and riding the tram/busses, and included a nice break for strudel and coffee. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone looking for a good overview of the city.
Parvin_A, Jul 2026
The guide was fabulous, we were only 4 in the group. It was all English speaking,
I learned a lot and enjoyed the beautiful city of Budapest. It was a mix of walking, tram and buses, a lovely stop@ a cafe for coffee &strudel, ended close to the palace.the other side of the city.

Greg the tour guide was so informative and friendly, he was so proud of his city and wanted to share what he loved about Budapest ( but Buda is his favorite). He made sure we had a very pleasant stay and offered many suggestions to make our trip the best it could be. If you take this tour … ask for Greg!
Deb_M, Jul 2026
Greg was knowledgeable and gave us a great historical overview of Budapest. The walking was easy, the sights were a great overview of Budapest. He also showed us how easy it is to use public transportation. We loved the Strudel shop. It is authentic and quaint, and the strudel was soooo good. We would highly recommend this tour.

I really enjoyed this tour. I learned so much about Budapest. Zoltan was a great tour guide! He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He even helped me locate other points of interest after the tour. He was a gem!
Randall_T, Jun 2026
Zoltan was an excellent, engaging, informative guide. Exactly what we were looking for and we both enjoyed the experience.
Nancy_Q, Jun 2026
Greg was an amazing tour guide. He gave us lots of history information while showing us the key places in Budapest. We were only 4 people on the small tour so we definitely benefited from having what felt like a private tour. Greg's knowledge of Budapest coupled with his wonderful demeanor and customer service focus truly made our experience memorable. I just wish we had more time with him! If you only have a short visit in Budapest because you are doing a river cruise or excursion from here, I highly recommend Greg. If you can ask for him, you should. You will not be disappointed!

My guide Bálint was outstanding! He was punctual, accommodating, knowledgeable, and personable. I will look for him to do another tour when I return to Budapest.
Susan_H, Jun 2026

Fantastic orientation, introduction and insight into Budapest and Hungarian people and culture. We had a great morning with Eszter and can’t recommend her and this tour enough. Definitely a must do.
parisa_p, May 2026
Don’t remember what the tour guide name was but she was not professional nor friendly very arrogant in her demeanor rude and boring long commentaries we couldn’t wait for the tour to end . Tried very hard to stick with the tour that had two other nice tourists
She is a bitter person that should not be a tourist guide and work in hospitality!!!!!!
Georgette_L, May 2026
Our tour guide Monika was so friendly and insightful. My Grandson and I ended up being the only ones on the tour. We learned so much and now we have ideas to see some of the places we visited. The strudel stop was very delicious and it gave us the energy to explore the Buda side. If you have the chance to take this tour, definitely do it!
Katrina_K, May 2026
Great tour of Budapest! Our multilingual (with perfect English) guide was amazing. Good pace and variety of locations. We learned a lot.
Lara_F, May 2026
Great walking tour of Budapest - loved learning a little about the history and tips on how to catch transport or if you’re interested in visiting sites further loved finishing at Fisherman’s Bastion
michele_d, May 2026
This City Tour was well organized and our Guide was very knowledgeable and always kept us in the cooler shade when possible
Roopa_P, May 2026
It’s a comprehensive but quick overview of the Pest side. Buda we didn’t cover as much. Guide did a good job of explaining the history but she had a soft voice and it was hard to hear and understand her. We’ve had far better guides who have done a fantastic job and this one was ok compared to those. Guide wasn’t as enthusiastic.
Elizabeth_F, May 2026
The walking tour, hosted by Greg, was informative and great! Greg is a native of Budapest and so very insightful and full of information and stories about the city and the countries history. He is very open to questions and in fact, asks frequently if there are any questions. But Greg also provides useful, first time visitor information and tips. This is a wonderful experience and the apple strudel stop is delicious!
Helen_T, May 2026
Excellent, and Gregory was fantastic giving us a fabulous spree of Hungarian history, touring us to wonderful and beautiful sights of buildings and views of the city. The variety of strudels were delicious.
An unforgettable experience with Gregory, highly recommended.
