Coming to Budapest as my first solo travel mission was daunting so I booked this food tour in hopes of a bit of learning Hungarian culture and try their delicious cuisines. What I got was that and so much more! Its the slow season so it was just me and George the wonderful tour guide and he made me feel as though I was a friend walking through his town seeing all the best stops. This is more than a guided tour experience, this is an open armed hug into the lovely Hungarian Budapest culture. The food was phenomenal, plenty of servings to leave you full, and the drinks to let you feel a bit buzzzyy! Learning about the origins from George was so effortless, he could be a TedTalk Speaker the way he carries conversation ! I couldnt ask for anything more. Everyone give this tour a chance, you wont regret it ! Thank you !

George and Chris were wonderful hosts. They asked about dietary restrictions early, met at the market and began to take us through the history of Hungarian food. They only stopped at local businesses. The highlight was a glass of the homemade pàlinka which is traditionally made at home. I cannot recommend this tour enough.

This was one of the best food tours we’ve ever done, and we’ve done many in various cities. Paula was an amazing guide she was friendly and funny and very engaging! All of the food we tasted was fresh and delivious! We highly recommend this tour!!!

Paula was such a vibrant and knowledgeable guide that mixed history with delicious foods in the market and a short walk from there. I was traveling solo and she was very welcoming. The foods we tasted in the central market were so delicious I went back several times for for the strudel and snacks for the train. Began my love for classic langos!

Great food tour with samples of budapest local and famous foods with history lessons along the way. I like how the tour guide told us the story of how Russia occupied the area and that only since the fall of Russia in the 90s have they only started to revive their country

Favorite stop longos. Paula was great but felt it was a little shorter than necessary. Not heavy on food or drink so would not consider a meal. Usually love food tours but no reflection on the guide just on food quality in general

Our tour usually includes around 8 stops and 20+ different tastings, with a mix of smaller bites and more substantial dishes such as traditional beef goulash. Along the way, we also taste locally produced Hungarian wines, beer and pálinka. Our goal is to introduce guests to as many different Hungarian flavors, dishes and drinks as possible rather than focusing on just a few large portions.
We’re sorry to hear the experience felt a little short. The exact timing can vary slightly depending on the pace of the group, but we really appreciate you mentioning it and will keep an eye on this.

Paula was an absolutely delightful host for this tour of food and walking the city. We met at the food hall that has both sights, smells and tastes of Hungary old and new. After sampling meats and fruity pastries we headed out to walk the historic streets and experience chimney cakes. She was knowledgeable about both the old history and the present day sharing her experiences along the way. Paula made sure we were all included and comfortable as we toured. She made the walk thoroughly enjoyable.

Wonderful experience with our tour guide Paula. We got to try a variety of Hungarian sausages and pickles, soup, crepes and chimney cake plus local wines and a fruit brandy. Come hungry if you’re doing the early tour or have a late dinner after.

GEORGE was excellent! The variety and quality of the food tastings was exceptional, and we definitely did not leave hungry! Highly recommend.
We have done many food tours in many cities and this was a very good tour. George gets very high marks for his organization. He took care of every little detail including having wipes, cups, and toothpicks available. I also liked that he took us to places outside the central market. His narrative along the tour was also informative and he was very personable. He really took care of us noting that we had plowed through the Lagos and got our group a other portion to share!
George was a great guide to the foods of Budapest. He was personable and had great stories to tell. It was a cozy group of six and by the end we all got to know one another and were full and had more than enough alcohol ;)
