A Day of Informative Ancestral History

Norbert_M, Oct 2024
Paul was an excellent guide as he was so knowledgeable about the history of the times as well as of the camp itself. I was there to try to get information on my Great Uncle who was imprisoned and died at Sauchenhousen. Paul helped me send in an inquiry that day at the camp and I did receive information back two weeks later. I would highly recommend this tour when visiting Berlin.

Extraordinary - a must-do tour

Rebecca_S, Sep 2024
We booked a private family tour for ourselves and our three kids aged 15, 12 and 11. We felt it was critical that we didn't leave Germany without acknowledging what happened at concentration camps during WW2 and paying our respects. Our tour guide Beth is an historian whose knowledge was second to none. She offered insights we would never have otherwise known and she was terrific at checking in with us and the kids to ensure everyone could handle the level of detail. Beth made the tour what it was and we left with a deeper understanding of the atrocities which happened and who was complicit including major German companies who willingly benefited from slave labour. Highly recommend this tour.

Great experience

Julian Our tour guide was awesome! Very knowledgeable and personable! I would highly recommend. Xxxxxx

An excellent overview of this difficult and important place

Lynn_M, May 2024
Julian was a very knowledgeable and sensitive guide. We appreciated how he handled this difficult and important visit.

Our guide was on time. Paul was very knowledgeable. A very informative tour. Paul was very helpful in guiding us on our way back to the hotel after the tour.

A Tour Not to Be Missed

Anonymous, Mar 2024
This was one of the best tours I have taken anywhere. Our guide, Paul, was highly educated in history and extremely knowledgeable. I asked questions the whole time and he always knew the answers. We took public transportation to get to our destination. That was interesting too and took away all of the stress of having to figure it out. The camp was a good choice for us because of the unique history of it. I highly recommend this tour and the tour company.

Excellent private tour and guide

Eileen_J, Dec 2023
The most memorable part of our tour was without a doubt the guide Paul Tobin who was very knowledgeable and friendly. He talked from the heart and clearly very passionate about his history.

Well done with a sensitive subject.

Jason_C, Nov 2023
Julian was extremely knowledgeable. He was very conscientious and did a great job explaining a difficult subject matter to my 12 year old son. Thank you.

Positive experience despite the deeply sad subject

Angela_L, Nov 2023
This was a very positive experience despite the deeply sad subject of the tour. There was a lot of information provided to help give a selection of life at the camp. Julian was an excellent tour guide! He was helpful in suggesting hats and gloves due to the camp being very windy and colder than the city. The information he gave was thorough and interesting.

Response from Host, Nov 2023

Dear Angela, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. The Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp is a tough site to visit (and to lead tours in). We are glad to hear that Julian looked after you and gave you a positive experience despite the nature of the site and the subject matter. Safe Travels!:)

Camp in a few words

Wendy_Q, Oct 2023
More important site than might be understood - well worth the trip The site is well preserved/conserved and the exhibits thought provoking.

Humbling

Katherine_H, Jul 2023
Humbling tour. Guide, Paul was fabulous. So much sadness. Yours like this important so we don’t forget.

Informative and engaging tour - highly recommend

GarryL_C, Jul 2023
Excellent tour - very informative. Our guide Paul was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We highly recommend booking a tour to see Sachsenhausen - and this private tour allowed us to learn so much more and ask questions along the way. We we walked away with a much better understanding of the history of the camp itself but also the war in general. Our teen girls even paid attention!

Sachsenhausen Private Tour with Julian

Christine_J, Jun 2023
This small group tour was perfect for us. This was a very moving, but intense tour that everyone should experience at least once. Julian was exceptional in his knowledge and presentation giving us a better understanding of the horrors that occurred there. We would strongly recommend him.

An Open-Minded/Educated well-informed Tour

Jonathan_S, Jun 2023
It was a real pleasure being able to get the information that we received from Paul. We had learned things that brought great perspective that I did not know. Our licensed tour guide Paul was very well spoken and added so much depth of knowledge that it proved to be exactly what I was looking for. We thank you Paul for sharing your information given the sensitive nature of questions and topics. I would recommend this young man any day of the week.

Moving Tour

Amy_G, Apr 2023
Paul was extremely knowledgeable about the camp but also all of WW2 and the history of Berlin during that time. He handled a very difficult topic and place with much care.

Great learning tour

henry_c, Feb 2023
A depressing tour but our guide made it interesting He also knew his history about World War Two very well

Paul 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Moriah_C, Nov 2022
I know you’re reading this thinking “should I really pay this much for a private tour”. Hell yes you should! Paul is kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and had a tasteful sense of humor (especially considering the subject matter). I learned so much just having a conversation with Paul on the way to the camp. The camp is, obviously, heavy but well maintained. The camp is large and you should dress warm. But it is worth every penny and more you’ll spend on it. Paul, thank you so much for helping me introduce my parents to Europe.

Great tour

Eileen_D, Aug 2022
Paul is an incredible guide with a wonderful personality and boundless information. He made this private tour a highlight of our trip to Berlin.

Excellent Tour

Rose_S, Jul 2022
Our tour guide, Paul, was very knowledgeable about the camp and the history. He was also flexible with our time and allowed us periods to rest. A very personable young man. Highly recommend!

Moving Experience

Swantja_P, Jul 2022
Paul was excellent and very accommodating to us older folk. He was informative, knowledgeable, and friendly. We would have liked more time to read the displays but that was impossible. Paul made sure we saw and read about the most important things.

It was a very memorable...

Brenda_B, May 2022
It was a very memorable and moving experience! We learned a lot. Our tour guide, Paul was excellent. He clearly explained how Hitler and the Nazis evolved and the tremendous atrocities they committed. I highly recommend this tour and I hope you get Paul!

Absolutely brilliant, couldn’t recommend highly enough!

Sarah_H, Oct 2021
Stephen was a fantastic tour guide, so accommodating, great sense of humour and super patient! We had a little boy with us and Stephen was brilliant with him! His knowledge about Sachsenhausens was impressive and the way he brought this fairly intense history across couldn’t have been any better! Highly highly recommend!

Great tour with Aaron!

Kimberly_D, Dec 2019
My mom and I visited Sachsenhausen with our guided tour guide, Aaron. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Once we departed the train he gave us the option to take the bus or walk to the camp. We decided to take the 20 minute walk which was through a standard German neighborhood. Once at the camp we spent 3 or so hours walking, talking and taking photos of the camp. I highly recommend Aaron as a guide.

Purposeful tour

Pamela_l, Aug 2019
There is a reason for EVERYONE in the world to go on a concentration camp tour. We learned SO much...mostly thanks to Beth, our guide. She knew everything she was teaching us and we are very appreciative of that. To be honest, unless you actually go through a camp with a guide, you won't learn anything. Again, having someone like Beth is a bonus.
