Apparently my wife and I were the only ones in the group tour. Our guide showed up on time, but he suggested to pay 50 additional euros to take a faster train to Potsdam, he said that the regular one used by the tour was too slow! So we decided to pay him the additional 50 euros. Upon arriving in Potsdam , he took us into a city bus to get to the location of the palace where the famous conference took place. We had to pay for the entrance tickets. After this we took another city bus to take us to the Sanssouci palace, and we had to pay for the entrance tickets. After lunch, we returned by city bus to the train station to return to Berlin. Sincerely, we assumed we were going to be taken in a private bus or van to Potsdam and not in train and city buses. We are older people and the pressure to be at each site was very tiring and exhausting for my wife and myself. We were not happy with that tour. What a difference with our tour to Hallstatt in Austria. That was a fantastic day trip.

A great walking tour of Potsdam

Potsdam is a beautiful and historical city. We loved walking through the Christmas market to Sans Souci palace. Even though it was a very cold day our guide Shadi made the experience fun and interesting.

Our tour guide Shadi went over and beyond by showing us around Potsdam and more . He was super friendly and made the tour fun as well . He brought us to try a local Turkish restaurant who served us the best doner. Best part was walking us thru the gardens around the palaces.

The tour was just okay. Unfortunately, our tour guide, who was extremely kind, seemed lost more often than not. He provided some information about the sites but not at the level we expected. The tour was flexible but I ended up making the itinerary far more than the guide, which was odd. We've done many tours in different cities and this was one of the weakest.

When this says walking tour, it means walking-a lot. We took train(s) to Potsdam from Berlin. We then walked all through Potsdam but the main castle was closed. So we basically walked through a beautiful park with beautiful buildings and then a small walk through the old town, which was cute. Our guide was patient and willing to allow us to explore.

Potsdam is a must-go if you're in Berlin! All 3 palaces are beautiful, and the town is quaint and cute. Our guide Sara was knowledgeable and easy to talk to. She's also very accomodating! For example, even after our day together came to an end, she helped us out with our enquiries about other parts of Berlin. I only gave this tour 4/5 stars because I find it too pricey. However, given that this was a private tour, I can't complain too much about it. Tip: Feel free to ask the guide any questions you have and you'll discover a wealth of information.

Tour guide was delightful as a person, but not a good tour guide. She didn't really tell us much of anything about Potsdam. She also wasn't really sure where the sites were and which bus to take. It was also a torrential rainstorm, which was not the fault of the tour, but generally not a great day. We decided to end the tour early.

Potsdam Well Worth a Visit

Potsdam, just a short train ride (25 minutes) outside of the city is a wonderful contrast to Berlin. Quaint, picturesque, slower paced, the charm of Potsdam will take hold moments after arriving. As part of the City Tour, we strolled through the grounds of Schloss Sanssouci Palace, the Orrangeieschloss & Neues Palace before ending up in the old part of the city of Potsdam which is filled with shops and wonderful restaurants. Sara, our guide for this adventure was marvelous. Her conversational guiding style was so welcoming and she patiently answered all of our questions (we had many!) This is a small tour. We were three total including Sara. Give it a shot, you will not be disappointed.

The excursion is not worth its excessive amount

The value of the excursion is astronomically expensive for her. This is a 4-hour walking tour, without going anywhere and the guide only spent 7 euros on train transportation. The guide was very friendly and helpful, the problem is the cost. I thought that when they picked me up at the hotel, it was that they would take us to Posrdam and not that it was walking to the train station, raining and with a terrible cold. \n

Please note we have mentioned clearly in our tour contain in VIATOR that this is a walking tour and not included hotel pick up and drop off by vehicle. Also have mentioned that the transfer to Potsdam will be by train. Regarding the price we believe that you are getting best price as the local tour guide in Berlin normally charging a 50 EUR per hour for private walking tour which is in total 300 EUR.
