A day in Monserrat

Excellent! The guide was on time, was knowledgeable and very nice. We absolutely enjoyed our time in Monserrat. The horse ride was also a plus. Beautiful horses, lovely place and very friendly people.

Van quality (dirty, lack of AC) and Long Riding Duration Need Improvement

While Monserrat was beautiful and the horseback riding okay there were a couple of hiccups that took away from the experience. First, the van we were picked up in was very worn and dirty, which was not ideal but tolerable - until the final drive back into Barcelona that is. After an incredibly long and hot horseback ride we were driven home in the same van but this time withOUT functioning AC. I understand that unpredictable things can happen but the guide/driver made it apparent that this was actually a recurrent issue. If he knew the AC was possiblyiffy on an 90 degree day and that we had just ridden horses for a full hour under the sun, why not greet us with at least some bottles of cold water? He didn't seem very invested in our experience which was unusual for a tour guide. The second issue was the horseback riding - it was slated for one hour which was intolerable for everyone involved given the summer sun. The poor horses were literally sweating so much that our legs were drenched by them as we rode. We all felt awful for them as they were visibly dragging themselves after about 30 minutes. We were told that they'd rest the remainder of the day but it was not humane and I would not have signed up had I known how much they suffered on such a long ride. I honestly didn't know horses well enough prior to this trip to have known but I think the tour operators would have. I hope the van and riding duration are improved - then I could confidently recommend this trip to others!

The guide was friendly and informative. The horseback ride and the saddles were nice. The views were amazing. The van ride had a/c and was comfortable. The guide was the highlight as he was engaging and fun.

Jordi was our driver and guide at the monastery. He was supper friendly and knowledgeable about the geology of the area and the monastery. The horseback ride was fun but a short stop at the turn around point for a few pictures would have been nice.
