Joan, our guide, was fantastic and a wonderful person. Montserrat was more beautiful than I could’ve imagined.

Montserrat is beautiful and worth a longer day trip from Barcelona, if time affords. The queue to view the Black Madonna up close can build up quickly, as can the queue up the St Joan funicular, so it's best to book a small group or private tour. Alba, our guide, was great at explaining the history and significance of Montserrat and some of the relations between the Catalans and Spain. All-in, a great way to spend a little time out of Barcelona, though I wish we had more time there.

Our tour guide Alex was simply amazing. Very knowledgeable and engaging. From the moment he picked us up until he dropped us off at our hotel, he provided us with relevant, historical facts, humor and many smiles. He clearly loves his job. I highly recommend the tour.

Alex our guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the history and workings of the monastery and surroundings. You can tell everyone on the mountain knows him and with good reason. He is pleasant and engaging. The Monastery is beautiful and a must see with its mountainside location…worth the drive and with these tickets no wait.

A bit of a drive from the city and roads a bit windy ner monastery but the views and history unique. Edcurdo kept us informed on local sights (ie university bldgs) along the way. Free time was limited at the monastery to explore. Book the early time!

Guide (Eduardo) was very knowledgeable with a good sense of humor. Montserrat is very picturesque and interesting.

Our private tour of Montserrat was perfect. Transportation was efficient, and the itinerary was thoughtfully customized to fit our family’s needs. Everything ran smoothly, making for a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.

This tour was rushed from beginning to end. There was not enough time for attendees to do all the wished at Monsterrat. There was approximately 1 hr and 15minutes to either explore the basilica fully, attend the museum, hike to St Michael's or take the funicular. I might add that aside from general entry into the basilica (black Madonna walk up NOT included) this tour was very poor value for money. The guide who was subcontracted to viator was knowledgeable on the region.

We visited Monserrat with our tour guide who picked us up from our hotel and drove us to the Monastery. Ramon, our guide was knowledgeable, funny and very informative. This is a must see tour if you are in Barcelona, and I hope you are lucky enough to get Ramon as your guide. We enjoyed every minute.

Our guide Alba was outstanding. She went above and beyond to make sure our tour was pleasant, comfortable and most importantly very informative. We would recommend that anyone that wants to tour ask for Alba. She is a wonderful representative for your company.

Awesome place! Awesome tour guide. Punctual, good sense of humour and very knowledgeable! Highly recommend this tour.

In Out Tours Barcelona was verybreliable and organised. Our guide, Alba, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and on time. She made the group feel welcome, and encouraged questions if need be. Louis, our driver, also added to our memories by being a very careful driver, and telling us of his childhood visits to Montserrat.
Our tour coincided with the Papal visit, however we were extremely lucky that all the police, journalists, crowds, buses and vehicles had left by the time we had arrived, allowing us to experience a peaceful, quiet, and spiritual place that it is.
We were also able to see the black Madonna free of charge, without massive queues, and inside the monastery’s cathedral.
I would definitely recommend a visit to this wonderful place one hour outside Barcelona as a bucket list experience.

This was an amazing experience. Alex is very knowledgeable and friendly. He is a great guide and very safe driver.
Diana_R, Jun 2026
Marcel is a terrific guide-so knowledgeable and helpful! He took us into the basilica before the mass and explained so much!
Jeff_J, Jun 2026
Great tour. Tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging. 1/2 was great, but a full day would also be appropriate
Morgan_O, Jun 2026
Alex was fantastic. Provided excellent insights about the trip to Mont Serrat and obviously had a great knowledge about the site.
kimberly_m, Jun 2026
Javi was a great guide! He was fun, patient, and kind…and VERY knowledgeable about Montserrat! We would tour with him again!
Douglas_L, Jun 2026
Montserrat is beautiful as is the basilica of the Benedictine monastery. The funicular took us into clouds above the village. Javi was friendly and instructive.
Win_R, Jun 2026
I don't feel like we got a good value for what we paid. Marcel was nice and friendly and attentive, but his English is not the best and he spoke way too fast. It was hard to understand him sometimes. Also, even though we stayed for mass, we still returned to our hotel an hour before we expected to. Also, after he dropped us off, he rushed away. It seemed like maybe he had another tour booked for the afternoon that he needed to get to

It was a wonderful experience to see Monserrat with a very nice and knowledgeable tour guide named Anatoli. I will highly recommend this tour and ask for Anatoli for your tour guide. You will enjoy this tour
William_L, Jun 2026
Eduard provided the small group of new friends with a great overview of the story of Monserrat. He drove us safely from Barcelona to the Monastery and back providing excellent information about the place and humour along the way. He knew everyone on the mountain top and provided extra time to do our own thing. We travelled up the Sant Joan Funicular to view the surrounding area on this beautiful day. We saw the monkey, elephant and the sphinx rocks.
Francesco_G, May 2026
Very informative in a beautiful natural setting and lots of history surrounding the site, monestery and basilica.
Michael_P, May 2026
It was a great experience with a wonderful guide. Alejandro was very informative, polite, and professional. He told us many things that were very important and historical and guided us through a wonderful visit to Monette. I would highly recommend this tour and Alejandro.
Robert_E, May 2026
Some walking is involved to get to the pick-up spot and during the tour. Suggest early morning visits as midday and afternoon crowds are significant.
Melissa_H, May 2026
We had a great experience with Javi, he was very knowledgeable and on time, communication worked perfectly.
Linda_S, May 2026
It was a very good tour. Our travel guide, Matt, was the very best. He was very helpful and knowledgeable - kept the day interesting.
ROSALIEL_H, May 2026
Alex,
did a great JOB to guide us yesterday. he's very nice to pick me up and brought me back to my hotel where I would stay. also He's very helpful and teach us what is the best thing to do in the mountains.
I had a great time and did enjoy my day of adventures yesterday.
Thank you Alex.

This is a great experience! The van that took us there was very comfortable and our Guide Alejandro was really great. Very knowledgeable about Montserrat and Barcelona. it was truly a pleasure! Highly recommend!

Excellent history regarding the monestary and mountains. Ramon is a former teacher and owner beyond expectations to show and tell us the cultural, spiritual, and socioeconomic history of the region. He is not your typical tour guide who memorizes and recites facts. He is born and raised in Catalonia and has so.much wisdom to share. The tour was the right amount of time and a lovely ride. Having a private guided tour with pick up outside our accommodations was well worth the price. Make sure you hit the farmers market after to purchase cheese, nuts, and honey.
