Culture and beautiful view, delicious food, clean bus, fine wine, nice service and a responsible tour guide. We had a wonderful tour in Barcelona with Rebecca Calora. She was professional, responsible, and very attentive throughout the entire trip. Her explanations were clear and engaging, and she made the experience both enjoyable and stress-free. We truly appreciated her dedication and care. Highly recommended!

Excellent experience. We had a great time. The tour was amazing. The bus was very comfortable, and our tour guide, Mayi was exceptional. We had enough time to enjoy Monserrat. Then the wine tasting and tapas activity was great!! The vineyard and the house is beautiful!! The wines are great too!!

Set out from Barcelona on a comfortable, air-conditioned bus with your English-speaking guide and head toward the landscapes of Montserrat.

After check-in at Estació del Nord, travel through scenic countryside before boarding a cogwheel train, which winds its way up the mountainside to the monastery. Explore the historic complex on a guided visit, step inside the Basilica, and take time to admire panoramic views over Catalonia. Along the way, sample regional treats such as artisanal pastries and traditional liquors that have been made by the monks for generations.

From Montserrat, continue your experience with the option that best suits your interests. Join a tour of Oller del Mas, a centuries-old castle-winery, to stroll through vineyards, discover the wine cellar, and enjoy a tasting of three organic wines paired with tapas. Upgrade to a full lunch experience that includes a multi-course meal at the winery along with wine pairings, or choose a Montserrat-only option if you’d prefer to dedicate your day entirely to exploring the mountain and monastery.

Tours start at 9:45 a.m. Please arrive 20 minutes before the start time because check-in is required at our office before proceeding to the buses area.
Groups are limited to 20 people per guide, though in rare cases may increase to 22. Transportation is shared with other groups.

Comfortable clothes and walking shoes are recommended. Montserrat and the winery may have more extreme temperatures than Barcelona—check the forecast and dress accordingly. Bring water, especially in summer.
The tour is not wheelchair accessible, but service animals are allowed. For reduced mobility, contact us before booking to discuss arrangements.
Infants (3 years or younger) join free of charge but are not provided with car seats or meals.

We often work with boutique, family-owned wineries. Due to logistics, the winery may vary from Oller del Mas.

Excellent experience!! Our guide Hector was so sweet and accommodating. He answered all of our questions and gave great recommendations. We enjoyed exploring the ground of the monastery, the shops, and the farmers market. The basilica was breathtaking! So glad we were able to go inside and witness an ongoing mass. Guillem did a fabulous job explaining the history of Barcelona and Montserrat while on the bus. Went with my family (two preteens) and there was something for everyone to enjoy. Shoutout to our bus driver for his exceptional driving. Would definitely do this again!

Montserrat & Wine Tasting Experience Worth Every Penny

Carla was amazing (same with Victor)! It was a day long trip to Montserrat and Winery after that. Montserrat itself is more than worth a visit, Carla shared a lot of history about the place. Once we visited the Winery it was another story. There were enough wines to taste & get drunk at the same time. Definitely recommend taking the lunch option cause we had 3 course lunch which was delicious! Thank you a lot for the experience, Carla.

Fantastic tour and Amazing Mayi

This was perhaps the highlight of our Barcelona trip. Key aspects: 1. Very well arranged. Except the mess at the Nord bus terminal (which is undergoing heavy construction), the tour is very well conducted. We have done bus tours world over and this one was one of the best. 2. Food included was pretty high quality. In terms of service, taste and presentation the food was similar to an upscale restaurant. This is not usually the case with large group tours. 3. Our guide Mayi was absolutely amazing. Very high energy and genuinely funny. Lot of knowledge of the area and wines. Quite likeable. All of their staff were super nice, including bus drivers. This is a far cry from the tours we have taken in London (rude, don't care tour operators). 4. Montserrat is out of this world. A must see monastery for visitors who come to Barcelona. We did the 45 mins roundtrip hike to the cross at the top, which was stunning. You can do it with little kids. Cog wheel train was fast, the views were stunning while cogging up. Overall highly recommend tour.

A Full Day

When we checked in for the tour, we were asked about dietary restrictions since food was included. This tour was really well organized. There were multiple tour groups on the bus. Our guide was Guillem and he stayed with us the whole tour. After a TRAM ride, not a cogwheel train ride up to the monastery we had a short talk on the history of the black madonna, the area and the monastery. Guillem gave us ideas on what to see after the madonna. The scenery was spectacular. We walked around the grounds and finally went into the church to see the black madonna. Then it was back to the bus for the wine tasting and tapas. Our group for tapas and wine tasting was small (less than 12). Guillem had us use our senses of smell, sight and taste with each wine as he explained how it was made, aged and bottled. The plate of tapas was delicious and went well with the wine. We had a chance to sit out on the patio to relax with a wine of our choice for purchase.

It was a wonderful way to have a day out of Barcelona….to see the countryside. Our guide Ale was wonderful….knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend the day with. The winery was great. The only thing I would say was when we booked…..it was unclear whether we were having lunch or tapas. The lunch was very good, but we were expecting tapas. We would definitely recommend this tour to others.

This was an excellent day trip from Barcelona. The mountain and views are absolutely breathtaking, and the history of the Basilica and Monestary is interesting. If you get enough free time, try to get to the Cross or check out the museum on site and be sure to try all of the cheeses and honey from the local vendors! The wine tasting and lunch additional was so lovely after the mountain and our guide, Antoni, was so incredibly knowledgeable about the wines, you would have thought he was a sommelier! Such a memorable experience overall!

Time to explore on your own means wear comfortable shoes if you want to go to St Michael’s cross. The tapas was delicious as was the wine and the tour guide gave us all the information on the wine.

It was a fun day getting to learn the history of Montserrat. Would highly recommend a group tour with Ale! He, along with the other guides, made it fun, informative, and memorable. The cheese market at the top of Montserrat is excellent and reasonably priced. The views of the surrounding area are breathtaking, as are the windows of stained glass inside of the chapel. Would recommend bringing along medications for nausea and dizziness if you are prone to motion sickness. I am very prone to motion sickness and did well with my medications, but someone else got sick on the bus while we were winding down the mountain.

From the moment we met our tour guide THAIS, it was clear we were in expert hands. Her extensive knowledge of Montserrat's history, culture, and stunning landscapes was impressive. She not only provided fascinating insights into the significance of this breathtaking mountain but also shared personal anecdotes that made the experience feel intimate and engaging. The hike through Montserrat was exhilarating, with the guide expertly navigating us through the trails, pointing out unique rock formations and hidden gems along the way. Their passion for the area was infectious, and they encouraged us to ask questions, making the tour interactive and fun. After our adventure on the mountain, we headed to Oller del Mas for the wine tasting. This vineyard is a hidden treasure! The setting was picturesque, surrounded by rolling hills and lush vineyards. Our guide Thais also at the winery was equally knowledgeable and passionate about their wines. She walked us through the tasting process, explaining the nuances of each varietal and sharing the history of the vineyard. The wines themselves were exquisite, with a wonderful selection that perfectly complemented the local cheese and charcuterie we enjoyed. It was a fantastic way to unwind after a day of exploration. Overall, this tour was a perfect blend of culture, adventure, and relaxation. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area. Montse was an excellent guide who taught us a lot of history with a lot of humor! The tour was very well organized with clear communication on expectations of locations and timing. Montse gave great recommendations on what to do at Montserrat, and was a very good host at the winery as well. It was a lovely day! Personal recommendation: try the vermouth at the winery! Some feedback for the organizers: make the meeting location address the Castle Experience office. My group had a bit of trouble finding it, but other than that everything was smooth.

The directions to find to meet up was very confusing. And then there’s two little kids was first he was cute, but then it becomes annoying and the guide was continued to acknowledge them, which is not great. It’s very annoying. I wish they could’ve specify no children so it’s more on people who has focused on wine tasting. the wine we have tested wasn’t available to have a drink in the bar didn’t invite you to the bar for five minutes and they say we are going, so it’s a waste of money and trapped

No cog rail, no wine and tapas

The tour guides were great and knowledgeable. However, very little free time was given to explore and definitely not enough time for the cog railway. Also, we weren’t given any wine and tapas that I thought I paid for. I’d probably just go on my own next time and not in a group.

If your preference was to have more time to explore Montserrat at your own pace, a full-day tour would likely have been a better fit! Not worth the money.

Too short and too rushed. No time to take it all in. Next time I will just take the train from Barcelona to Montserrat and spend the day there. Also your website is very misleading as I thought I was signing up for Montserrat and the tapas lunch and wine tasting. In the end I was informed by the Castle Tours that I had only signed up for the visit to Montserrat. The tour director Hector was excellent and all the staff very pleasant. But your Viator website needs to be improved and made instinct with the Castle Tours that actually overseers the whole operation in Barcelona. I would ask for a partial refund but I know it is futile. I think my bad review is enough.

Thais was a wonderful guide! She made the experience incredibly fun and was really knowledgeable. The montesrrat was incredible to see.
