By far the best tour we took in Athens! Our guide, Filip, was absolutely amazing and truly made the entire experience top tier. The food was unforgettable and gave us such a genuine taste of Greek culture. We didn’t just sample incredible dishes—we learned the stories, traditions, and history behind them, which made it all the more special.

We had an incredible afternoon with Filippos as our guide. The walk thru various neighborhoods and eating establishments was fantastic. We sampled many tasty traditional Greek foods at several different restaurants. Filippos was a superb guide with a wealth of information not only about food, but also Greek way of life and history. Can’t imagine a better food tour.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and we got to try a variety of pastries, cheese, traditional coffee (excellent), and meats, vegetables…. The list goes on and on. We would definitely recommend this trip!

It was a wonderful experience. Leif was a very knowledgeable guide of the area and of the local food. We went to six different eateries and were provided a taste of several items at each establishment. By visiting several establishments, we were able to taste everything from appetizers to desserts. All very tasty. Leif explained everything very well and truly gave us a feel of the local food culture. You will not be disappointed if you take this tour. All of us left a full stomach.

This was advertised as a Greek food tour, but it turned out to be a major disappointment. Instead of authentic Greek cuisine, we were taken almost entirely to places selling basic snacks rather than real meals that represent Greek culture. The only actual food we were served was Greek fusion, and surprisingly it came from two separate locations of the same business. That immediately raised concerns, especially since this was both the first and last proper food stop of the tour. It felt less like a cultural experience and more like a guided promotion. If you’re looking to experience true Greek food and culinary tradition, this tour does not deliver.

We would like to clarify for future readers that this tour was a special Christmas edition, clearly advertised as such, with a focus on traditional festive Greek tastes rather than a sit-down-only meal format. As described in the tour details, tastings included Greek cheeses and cured meats, savory pies, loukoumades, yogurt with honey, and a visit to a local tavern, all rooted in Greek culinary tradition and seasonal culture.
Regarding the concern about “snacks,” Greek food culture is deeply connected to shared plates, street foods, bakeries, and neighborhood tavernas, especially during festive periods. This approach is intentional and reflects how locals actually eat and celebrate.
The tour format was also clearly stated in advance as a small group experience of up to 10 guests. On this date, the group included 9 participants. During the tour, you chose to remain largely isolated from the rest of the group, requesting to sit separately and showing little interest in engaging, while frequently using your phone throughout the experience. The rest of the group — including your partner — was very enthusiastic and has since left multiple 5-star reviews, along with a generous tip to the guide.

Athens Food on Foot was the provider of our absolutely amazing walking food tour. Lefteris was the perfect guide for our group of 8 and kept us laughing as we walked through the Plaka, stopping at several venues to sample some authentic Greek cuisine, from Greek yogurt, bread and olive oil, olives, cheeses, souvlaki,gelato, and a 4 course family style meal, including dessert. So much food! We made the mistake of having lunch prior to our 6 p.m. tour. We were glad for the long walk after our overindulgence. Book this one, ask for "Lef".

This was a great way to taste the foods of Athens and see the neighborhoods and just learn a little bit more about it from a local. Our guide Kate was friendly and made it easy. My husband said we could have tried the foods cheaper on our own, which is true, but I then wouldn’t have tried a lot of things on my own and would have skipped them. I enjoyed all and was glad we did it this way. It was a good experience. We had Greek yogurt, baklava, koulouri, and a bunch of traditional family dishes at a tavern. It really was a good time full of delicious food, and I mean full. Only wish is we tried the Greek coffee, but that will not be hard on our own.

This tour was absolutely wonderful and we ate so many things and learned a lot of do's and don'ts... this was to help AVOID tourist traps...highly recommend. Maria was ASTOUNDING and very knowledgeable...20/10 reccomend!
