Our meeting point is at a pie coffee shop called En Athinas which you will find at Athinas 41 10554. We will hold a small red sign says Food around Athens. The meeting point En Athinas 41 is next to a small hotel called Hotel Cecil.

Meet your guide and small group at a central meeting point to begin your foodie adventure.
Your first stop is Athens Central Market, where you learn to shop like an Athenian, meet the traders, and eat a delicious meal of lamb on the bone (kleftiko).
Sample cheese, cured meats, fruit, olive oil, honey, sweets, and spices as you stroll the streets of atmospheric Psirri, meeting local shopkeepers as you do so. Then sit down in a taverna for one of Athens’ very best gyros plus wine fresh from the barrel.
There’s time for a bougatsa (custard pie) dessert and, of course, Greek coffee and ouzo before you return to Monastiraki for a photo stop at a viewpoint.
Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available on request.

Fantastic food tour in the heart of Athens. Come with an empty stomach as there is plenty of local food tour try. Highly recommended!

Terrible experience. Pickup time and location were changed and we were not notified. We were ready at our hotel but no one showed up so we could not join the tour. Communication was awful and we are very angry.

Food Around Athens culinary tour today was a real treat. Mike was our guide and he was incredibly knowledgable about Greek ingredients, food preparations, history, culture...honestly just about anything you could want to know. He is obviously very proud of his country's food traditions. We visited so many different shops and stalls, all artisan and family owned, from olives and olive oil to spices to honey to nuts to - well everything! A real highlight was the market where the restaurants and locals buy all of their meats, fish, fruits and vegetables. We also ate at two family-owned restaurants that served incredible local fare. This tour is worth every penny and we highly recommend it.

This was the best Food Tour I’ve experienced. Our tour guide let us to little out of the way places and not tourist areas. We visited the Agora and the Fish and Meat markets and stopped and sat down to eat two different times with wine and ouzo . The food was authentic and plenty. I would highly recommend

Eat a lite breakfast or skip if you have a mid-morning tour - there will be lots of delicious food to try! Arela was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable about Greek food and traditions. This was the perfect start to our stay in Greece - what a way to connect with Greek culture than through food and wine! Our host, Mike, was excellent in his knowledge of all things Greek food and his expertise was evident in the way he shared various tidbits about each yummy dish we indulged ourselves in. The array of choices were amazing - we were stuffed by the end of the tour (and we are big eaters!). The trip to the meat market was quite an experience and the En Athinas spanakopita was the best we have ever tasted! We went back for seconds and the bugata we had knocked everything we had ever tasted completely out off the park! The honey tasting, the wine, the meat, the cheese and salami place, the ouzo experience, and the fabulous place at which we ended our tour made our first day in Athens absolutely unforgettable! Thank you, Mike, for the amazing day we spent with you! Highly recommend this family-friendly day.

Arela met us and 7 other guests. She did a fantastic job of explaining history and local details about the area that we walked. There was lots of walking involved, but we went at a relaxed pace and she took us to a great selection of non-touristy local food vendors. We got to sample a wide variety of foods and there was plenty for each of us and opportunity to take second serving if desired; but really there was so much food that few of us wanted to take more than just a taste. She did a great job of interacting with us so that by the end of the 3.5, we were all chatting and laughing as though we had known each other for years. This tour exceeded expectations. I highly recommend doing this near the beginning of your visit to Athens.

This is a must do if you love food, and are going to be in Athens. Arela was the best guide we could’ve asked for - sharing the culture, history, and importance of these Greek dishes/foods. She was so genuinely sweet to all of us. The tastings were plentiful, fresh, and included a variety of different things.
Sure, you can eat Gyros and Souvlaki anytime you are in Greece, but this tour is so much more than that. The value is amazing, everything is close by, and Arela made us feel like family during the entire tour. We would recommend this to anyone who appreciates food, and has a few hours in Athens. Come hungry because we are now headed to our hotel to nap! What a great experience!

We had an amazing experience on this food tour! Our guide, Arela, was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely sweet. She made us feel welcome and shared fascinating stories about the local food, culture, and history throughout the tour.
The food stops were excellent, with a great mix of small, family-owned businesses that we never would have found on our own. Everything we sampled was delicious, and there was an impressive variety of foods and treats. We especially loved trying authentic local specialties that we probably wouldn’t have thought to order as tourists.
A highlight was visiting the fish and meat market, it was a really interesting glimpse into everyday life in Athens and added another layer to the experience.
One piece of advice: come hungry! There is a lot of food, and the portions are generous. We left completely full and very happy.
We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Athens who wants to experience authentic Greek food beyond the typical tourist spots.

Michalis was our guide and he was passionate and so knowledgeable about all the food we tasted. A small group of 8 was lovely and we were treated to both sat down mezze ( more than enough and home cooked) and also tastings with the honey being my favourite although the olives were also amazing. Great food and experience and now know so much about the excellent Greek foods and produce.

The tour was wonderful. Mike takes you to some “off the path” places. You get many, many tastings. Please note that if you go on a Sunday, the seafood, fruit, and meat market are closed. It is disappointing. Other than that, the tour was phenomenal!

Come hungry. There is so much good food to eat. Our tour started off with a welcome message and very clear and easy to follow directions leading us to the meet up point. Árela was our guide and greeted us so warmly that it felt like meeting a friend. We sat and chatted while sampling our first tasting. We had spanakopita, a traditional cheese pie with leaks and fennel. The best part of that dish was the hand made phyllo dough. So flaky and good. We moved on through the market, stopping to notice how people of Athens buy their food and other items. The tour through the fish and meat market was amazing. Calamari and Octopus. Fresh fish. The other section had amazing steaks and pork chops. If I wasn’t on holiday, I would have bought plenty! Another stop at a small snack shop where we tried the pink pistachio and the Loukoumi, a jelly type candy (we bought 3 boxes to take home). We then went down a side street and tasted some local wine with some small samplings of saganaki cheese, pita bread, tomato, cucumber, olive, and chicken meatball. After, we went across the street to olive heaven. So many different kinds of olives. Sample after sample. So good. We followed that with the very best (and I am not exaggerating) feta cheese I have ever tasted in my life. I will never forget it. We then went to the fruit market and saw all the local fruits and vegetables. Stopped into an olive oil shop and learned how to properly taste olive oil and know the quality of it. After, we went to a honey shop. You have to try the lavender honey! At that moment we decided that we needed to find a way to check in a bag so we could take home the delicious honey and pistachio butter. The last stop was at a small family owned restaurant. We had a small meal of butter beans, beef sausage, orzo, calamari. We also had ouzo and Greek coffee with some fresh cherries on the side. The food was great but the time spent with our guide felt like meeting a long lost cousin who was excited to show us her home town in Athens. What a great experience!

What an amazing experience! If Greece is a bucket list item like it was for us, you have to do this food tour while in Athens. It will not disappoint! Dimitri, our guide, was PHENOMENAL!! We truly couldn’t have had a better time. Dimitri was like a good friend filling us in on his stomping grounds. He met our group at our level and accommodated all of our needs and wants and then some. Wear loose clothes because you will eat so much delicious food and learn so much at the same time. I cannot recommend this tour enough, especially with Dimitri!!!!!
