Our meeting point is at a pie coffee shop called En Athinas which you will find at Athinas 41 10554. We will hold a small red sign says Food around Athens. The meeting point En Athinas 41 is next to a small hotel called Hotel Cecil.

Meet your guide and small group at a central meeting point to begin your foodie adventure.
Your first stop is Athens Central Market, where you learn to shop like an Athenian, meet the traders, and eat a delicious meal of lamb on the bone (kleftiko).
Sample cheese, cured meats, fruit, olive oil, honey, sweets, and spices as you stroll the streets of atmospheric Psirri, meeting local shopkeepers as you do so. Then sit down in a taverna for one of Athens’ very best gyros plus wine fresh from the barrel.
There’s time for a bougatsa (custard pie) dessert and, of course, Greek coffee and ouzo before you return to Monastiraki for a photo stop at a viewpoint.
Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available on request.

Great tour, Eva our tour guide was awesome, the food was excellent and there was plenty of it. Highly recommend!
This was the best tour we have ever experienced. Rachel is engaging, entertaining and very educational. Rachel made the tour feel like coming home. We were welcomed in the markets by all the merchants and experienced a true “market experience.”
Rachel was fantastic! She personalized the tour and was extremely knowledgeable and funny?
We will definitely ask for her if we ever come back.
Best food tour I have ever been on. Rachel is amazing! She knowledge of the area is deep and the places she took us were excellent. The food at each stop was memorable!
We have been on a couple of food tours prior to this and this one was underwhelming. Sampling was very small bits I.e. one olive in front of an olive store or a small lick of honey off a stick. The sit down dinner was good.

And a second sit down meal you didnt mention and two types of pies and salami and cheese and Greek sweets and Greek coffee and wine and ouzo and a very large meal of over 10 dishes including calamari, sausages, meatballs, fish both fried and marinated, zucchini fritters, beans , salads, fava, fried cheese, orzo pasta and more (all full size portions)and at the end a full size portion of Greek yoghurt and fruits to finish. What more could you have possibly managed to fit in to 3.5 hours!! Maik is very surprised by your comments.

Very knowledgable and funny guide. Really enjoyed the marketplace especially! The walking was very slow paced so everyone could enjoy.
The food walking tour was excellent. Everything we tried was very good and we had the opportunity to try a wide variety of food. I loved them personality of the tour guide and enjoyed the other people in the group. Would definitely do again if I return to Athens.
The tour startet close to the public market. We were 8 people and the guide. He gave us an overview of the eating habits and some historical facts. We had several stops including shops and 2 restaurants (sit down). We were served water, wine, greek cafe and ouzo to drink. We got a good overview of greek products and food. The food was plenty and good. It was less touristy than originally greek( where the locals shop and eat). Ut was our second food tour in Athens and we loved it!!!

They are not exaggerating when they say 20+ tastings. My husband and I counted upwards of 30 if you can believe it! This was one of the best food tours we’ve ever done - history (both ancient and modern), hidden gems, markets, restaurants, delis, drinks - they had it all. Arela was our guide and we absolutely loved her. So much more than just gyros. Thank you for a great time!

So many dishes to try. We were a bit late due to unforeseen circumstances but Mike was kind enough to let us meet up at the 2nd stop and even brought us the food items we missed out on from the first stop. Food Around Athens culinary tour today was a real treat. Mike was our guide and he was incredibly knowledgable about Greek ingredients, food preparations, history, culture...honestly just about anything you could want to know. He is obviously very proud of his country's food traditions. We visited so many different shops and stalls, all artisan and family owned, from olives and olive oil to spices to honey to nuts to - well everything! A real highlight was the market where the restaurants and locals buy all of their meats, fish, fruits and vegetables. We also ate at two family-owned restaurants that served incredible local fare. This tour is worth every penny and we highly recommend it.

This was the best Food Tour I’ve experienced. Our tour guide let us to little out of the way places and not tourist areas. We visited the Agora and the Fish and Meat markets and stopped and sat down to eat two different times with wine and ouzo . The food was authentic and plenty. I would highly recommend

Eat a lite breakfast or skip if you have a mid-morning tour - there will be lots of delicious food to try! Arela was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable about Greek food and traditions. This was the perfect start to our stay in Greece - what a way to connect with Greek culture than through food and wine! Our host, Mike, was excellent in his knowledge of all things Greek food and his expertise was evident in the way he shared various tidbits about each yummy dish we indulged ourselves in. The array of choices were amazing - we were stuffed by the end of the tour (and we are big eaters!). The trip to the meat market was quite an experience and the En Athinas spanakopita was the best we have ever tasted! We went back for seconds and the bugata we had knocked everything we had ever tasted completely out off the park! The honey tasting, the wine, the meat, the cheese and salami place, the ouzo experience, and the fabulous place at which we ended our tour made our first day in Athens absolutely unforgettable! Arela met us and 7 other guests. She did a fantastic job of explaining history and local details about the area that we walked. There was lots of walking involved, but we went at a relaxed pace and she took us to a great selection of non-touristy local food vendors. We got to sample a wide variety of foods and there was plenty for each of us and opportunity to take second serving if desired; but really there was so much food that few of us wanted to take more than just a taste. She did a great job of interacting with us so that by the end of the 3.5, we were all chatting and laughing as though we had known each other for years. This tour exceeded expectations. I highly recommend doing this near the beginning of your visit to Athens.
