Great guide. Good blend of historical information with current culture. Learn how residents live and where they go. Great way to see things tour groups won't take you to.

Maxim was great. So charming and polite. He shared his Greek heritage and pride in his city. It was a wonderful way to start our experience in Athens, with a great overview and recommendations for lunch and dinner and desserts.
It was like seeing a cousin you haven't seen in year's or an old friend. It was so comfortable and not rushed.

Eleni was great and very accommodating. I had trouble with transportation from airport/downtown/hostel, and since she could postpone our tour, she kindly suggested to meet up a little bit later than what I scheduled ( I didn't ask: she offered:)
She took me to places where locals go and regular tours don't cover. It was nice to see parts of the city not full of tourists. She also pointed out good places to get food and drinks, and what to ask for: sweet bougatsa for breakfast, spinach/cheese for lunch or dinner. She also noticed I love graffiti, then she made sure to walk by places with pretty cool art.
I more than recommend her and her tour! I had a delightful evening walking with her.

Irini was terrific. She's funny, vivacious, energetic and obviously loves her city and neighborhood. She took us into narrow alleys, where we met some of the residents, to out-of-the way monuments, pocket churches, and beautiful graffiti walls, to stalls in the central market, where every vendor seemed to know her, and to hidden bistros, where locals go for drinks, music and conversation. If you want to know the Plaka and Monastraki districts better, walking with Irini is a must.

Our guide was very good - only problem we had was trying to find somewhere to eat in an area that she had recommended as most of it was closed due to the students being on holiday. Apparently it is cheap and buzzing when they are there.

Irini was a great guide, both telling us local history while guiding us through secret hideaways in Plaka, and showing us things off the beaten path private rooftop view, suggestions of cafes, a more scemice, easier route from Plaka to the Acropolis entrance. She is charming and can bring you to everything from hipster cafes favored only by locals to routes with less/slower walking for the less able. Since she is from a local family, she's a fount of accurate info, and even brought us homemade Epiphany cookies. When we needed a recommendation the next day, she was accessible by phone to help. Very highly recommened: flexible, affable, and fluent in most European languages. Great in English and French for us.

Fantastic tour! Great opportunity to see both the non-touristy places and the hidden touristy places in Athens. That authentic local experience everyone looks for when they travel. A great way to start your time in Athens as you will get some insider tips to enhance your time there. Irini is very personable and makes you feel like a friend. She also asks you your personal interests so she can customize the tour for you. Incredible value for a private guide.
