We had a wonderful trip to Meteora! Our guide and driver Eleni and Katarina were fantastic. Note that the bus leaves right at 8am - I would recommend arriving 30 minutes early and carefully read the meeting point instructions. Also note that the trip itself is a really long day - it was well worth it but be prepared to not be back until after 10pm.

Relax and take in the diverse scenery of the Grecian countryside and break up the 4-hour drive with a stop in Kamena Vourla, for an optional seaside brunch (payable onsite).

See the others from the outside on a van tour and discover the hermit caves of Badovas, stopping for frame-worthy photos at each site.

Amazing experience. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and I learned so much. Food was a bit rushed, but that was okay.
Recommended if physically able!
Rebecca_L, Apr 2026
This was an amazing trip with lovely views and astounding history. The only reason for four stars vs five is that I feel like the level of difficulty is very understated. One monastery was very difficult to get to, the 2nd was moderately difficult and the 3rd was easy. Also, the guide does not go into the monasteries with you so it’s more like a guided bus tour with option to go into the monasteries alone. Still a very beautiful place and would recommend for those who are physically able.
Utterly unique experience.

Laura_B, Apr 2026
This tour was absolutely fantastic. Our guide Maria was wonderful and so knowledgeable about the monasteries and their history and the rock formations. She also was great about managing our time at every stop so we could fit everything in - 3 monasteries and 3 photo stops is a lot to fit into the day. I thought there was plenty of time at each stop to see what you wanted to see. The bus ride is long but it was worth it and the bus was pretty comfortable. We did get lucky with it being off season (early April) so the crowds were not terrible and we had very little traffic which helped keep everything on time. But Maria was also flexible - if a photo stops was crowded, we skipped it and came back to it at the end when the other groups were gone. It’s a truly stunning place and one of my favorite things I did this trip. I can’t recommend it enough.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Dear Laura,
Thank you so much for your amazing review!
We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a fantastic experience and that Maria’s knowledge and time management helped you make the most of the day. Visiting 3 monasteries and multiple photo stops is indeed a full program, so it’s great to know it felt well-paced and enjoyable.
We’re also happy that traveling in the off-season made your visit even more comfortable. Your kind recommendation truly means a lot to us.
We hope to welcome you again soon to Meteora!

Meteora is definitely...
Christian_C, Apr 2026
Meteora is definitely worth the visit. The bus ride was comfortable. I gave it four stars because the “brunch” on the way to meteora was subpar. They bring you back to the same restaurant for dinner. The lunch was not that great either.
Best driver and informative guide. We learned lot of history and enjoyed the experience.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Dear Christiana,
Thank you for your honest feedback and for highlighting the comfortable journey, as well as the great work of your driver and guide—we’re very happy you enjoyed the overall experience and learned more about Meteora’s history.
Regarding the meal stops, we would like to clarify that the seaside restaurant we use is actually among the top-rated in the area on both Google and TripAdvisor. This is a conscious choice, as many similar tours stop at highway rest areas, which tend to have significantly lower ratings and a more limited experience.
That said, we truly value your feedback on the food and will continue working to improve every aspect of the experience.
We hope to welcome you again in the future!
Wonderful trip.

Susan_S, Apr 2026
Even though the bus ride to and from were long, this turned out to be an outstanding trip. We had pleasant weather and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the impressive rock formations and visiting 3 of the monasteries built among the rocks . Our guide at Meteora, Maria was so informed and we loved her dry sense of humor. Breaks every 2 hours to get a bite of food, use the restroom and stretch our legs was appreciated. We would definitely recommend this tour to others despite the long bus ride.
Response from Host, Apr 2026

Great day in meteora
David_H, Mar 2026
Catalina and Demetri were amazing, the tour is a full day 8-10 you do about 2 hours stop eat a quick breakfast 2 hours stop eat lunch, 1 hour three monistaries with 2 high panoramic stops to get good pictures they helped shoot the best pics I got. Catalina is extremely knowledgeable and a lot of fun and demetri kept and upbeat and happy demeanor the whole trip! 10/10 must do, only thing I would skip is lunch maybe as the breakfast place before was better, just personal preference.

Meteora Monastery Visits
Mark_F, Mar 2026
It was a long day but extremely worthwhile. Walking up inclines to monastery can be challenging for unfit. Beautiful scenery!
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Dear Mark,
Thank you very much for your kind review! We’re delighted to hear that you found the journey worthwhile and enjoyed the stunning scenery of Meteora. It’s true that visiting the monasteries involves some uphill walking, but the views and the experience of these incredible cliff-top monasteries usually make the effort well worth it.

Great Experience
Daniel_M, Mar 2026
I booked this trip last minute and I'm glad I did as it was well worth it. The views were stunning and the monistaries we visited were amazing to see the inside of.
Some things to note with this tour is that first off the drive is long out to the site, and back. Be sure to bring a book, podcasts, or music to occupy your time. Also, you'll need to bring cash with as each of the monistaries have a €5 entry fee, and on our trip we visited 3 of them. The first monastery we visited had a lot of steps, but was well worth the climb. The other two were much more accessible.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Dear Daniel,
Thank you very much for your wonderful review and for choosing to join our Meteora day trip, even as a last-minute decision! We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the breathtaking views and the opportunity to visit inside the monasteries — it truly is a unique experience.
You are absolutely right that Meteora is quite a journey from Athens, which is why we carefully design the itinerary with comfortable coaches and scenic stops along the way to make the day as enjoyable as possible. Thank you as well for mentioning the entrance fee and the steps at some monasteries — these details are very helpful for future travelers preparing for their visit.
We hope to welcome you again on another adventure in Greece in the future!

The driver from Athens to Meteora is great: he stopped at a historic monument for spartan & gave us time to take pictures
The local guide was wonderful: she’s showing us photos of her cats & mixed her personal experience growing up in the area, quite interesting stories from only local can tell
Response from Host, Mar 2026

It’s also wonderful to know that your local guide made the experience personal and memorable. Stories from someone who grew up in the area truly bring Meteora to life in a unique way.
We hope to welcome you back to Greece for another adventure soon!
Great Tour Option
klcayer, Feb 2026
Great experience. Knowledgable & kind drivers & guide. Not to stress the monasteries have skirts free to wear, they are universal elastic or wrap skirts. We went in February so there were plenty to go around. The Resturaunt they take you (twice) to along the coast, is very reasonably price and delicious. The fire oven pizzas were outstanding. The Resturaunt you stop at as your paid lunch was also very good. You have a limited menu (only 3 vegetarian options - rice stuffed pepper & tomato, pasta and sauce and a grape leaf rice filling wraps) it was good. The first two Monasteries you pay 1€ to use the toilet/WC, the last one (run by the nuns) allows you free entry to use the WC. I highly recommend this tour. Wear proper footwear and beware you walk steep steps and ramps to get to most Monasteries. Bring walking sticks if needed.
Response from Host, Mar 2026

Long but amazing views
Umair_F, Feb 2026
Its a long trip people should keep in mind this will tske 14/15 hours and majority of that time will be in bus but if you like to visit the monasteries and amazing views this is worth it
Response from Host, Feb 2026

That said, we’re very happy to hear that you felt the monasteries and the views made it worthwhile.
