This was a great experience. It is a long journey but it is worth it. Seaside breaks for food was nice. Restaurant right on the water. Well organized as far as food . Order on the bus and food is ready when you get there. Meteora was beautiful from the mountains and monasteries. I would recommend this tour

We had a fantastic time on this day trip! The monasteries are amazing and beautiful. Our guide, Vasili, was well informed, funny and delightful. Very unique experience! I would recommend to anyone who has an extra day in Athens. We debated going to another site of ruins versus visiting Meteora and we are very satisfied with our decision to make this trip.

This is a great way to...

Christine_O, Jul 2026
This is a great way to see a truly wonderous site! My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The guide and driver were great, and we had ample time to explore the monasteries. My only criticism is that the meals felt rushed.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re delighted you enjoyed Meteora, the monasteries, and the service provided by our guide and driver. As this is a long day trip with three scheduled meal stops, the timing at each stop must be carefully managed to respect the drivers’ legal working-hour limits and ensure a safe, timely return to Athens. We appreciate your feedback and hope the overall experience left you with wonderful memories!

A super long day

winnie_y, Jul 2026
Long travelling time. Both lunch and dinner were in a hurry. May cut one of the monasteries to save time. Not suitable for elderlies.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for your feedback. The full-day duration and extensive travel time from Athens are clearly stated in the activity description and reflected in many guest reviews. The itinerary is designed to include three monasteries and the main Meteora highlights in one day. For travelers who prefer a slower pace, especially elderly guests, we also offer two- and three-day Meteora tours with more time for meals, rest, and sightseeing.

Traveling in Greece

Nancy_E, Jul 2026
Our guide was wonderful. We picked him up on our way to Meteora. Brunch information was sparse but order on your way up. Somehow they know when to have it ready.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for your review! We’re delighted you enjoyed our guide and the Meteora experience. We appreciate your feedback regarding the brunch instructions. Guests can pre-order during the journey using our QR system so the restaurant can prepare meals before arrival. We’ll work on making this process clearer.

Pick good bus seats😄

Nichole_H, Jul 2026
Amazing place to visit, but the bus ride was LONG. A few tips- don't sit in the back of the bus If the weather is hot, it was miserable on the way home and we could not cool down. Also, if you need euros, there is an ATM a 5-10 minute walk from the lunch stop, but you would need to get your food quickly and then head there right after eating. The Monasteries themselves are very interesting, and the views are incredible. Overall it was a great day, but the ride home was tough.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for your detailed review! We’re glad you enjoyed the monasteries, incredible views, and the overall experience. We’re sorry the return journey felt uncomfortable, especially in the back of the bus during the heat. We appreciate your helpful tips and will review the cooling and seating conditions with our transport team.

Outstanding!!

Robyn_B, Jul 2026
Unbelievable! So beautiful and unique. Highlight of our trip! This is a must do if in Greece. Highly recommend.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Great guide, nice view, should have packed lunch instead.

Megan_S, Jul 2026
Monasteries were beautiful, guide and bus driver were great! We loved the breakfast and supper stop. Lunch stop wasn’t the greatest I would skip that and pack one.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for your review! We’re delighted you enjoyed the monasteries, our guide, driver, and the seaside meal stops. We’re sorry the lunch did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate your honest feedback, which we’ll share with our restaurant partner. We hope the rest of the experience remains a wonderful memory!

Must see! You won't regret it!

Anastasios_K, Jul 2026
It's simply a must see/do in Greece. You won't regret it. My wife and teenage kids were complaining about how long the day was going to be for a visit from Athens (literally form 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.). They were so happy they did it. Pictures of Meteora do no justice. You have to experience it to believe it. No disrespect to the Acropolis, but if you can only see 1 place, it should be Meteora.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for your amazing review! We are delighted that the long journey from Athens proved completely worthwhile for your whole family. Meteora truly is one of those places that photos cannot fully capture—you have to experience its breathtaking landscape and monasteries in person. Your recommendation means a great deal to us, and we hope to welcome you back to Greece again!

Fantastic experience. Don’t miss this one.

Dan_P, Jul 2026
This is an absolutely beautiful part of Greece… EPIC!! The guide made the history of Greece come alive and connected it with what we see today in the monasteries.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for your fantastic review! We are delighted that you found Meteora so beautiful and that our guide brought Greek history to life while connecting it with the monasteries you visited. Your recommendation means a lot to our team, and we hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable experience in Greece!

Great trip!

Julie_C, Jul 2026
Very well done. The destination was amazing but they broke up the bus trip with brunch/dinner stops each way, and had bathroom breaks built into the trip. The bus was nice and clean. The overall organization was excellent.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you, Juile, for your wonderful review! We are delighted that you enjoyed Meteora and appreciated the well-planned seaside meal stops, regular comfort breaks, clean coach, and smooth organization throughout the day. We hope to welcome you back for another memorable experience in Greece!

Very long day

Anastasia_v, Jul 2026
I didn’t realize that the drive to the first monastery would be 4 hours and 4 hours back. Once we got there it was pretty, but not worth the 8 hour drive. I would not do it again.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Dear Anastasia, Thank you for your feedback. Meteora is not close to Athens, and the long travel time is clearly stated in the tour description. This is basic information that should be reviewed before booking any full-day trip. We are sorry the experience was not what you expected, but the distance and duration are not hidden and are part of the nature of visiting Meteora from Athens in one day.

Peter_E, Jul 2026
Physically demanding to climb to the monasteries with steep slopes and a mix of uneven terrain and nicely finished steps. Very much with the effort but taxing. Maria was a great guide and the meals stops were great.

We had a ton of fun...

Alyanna_A, Jul 2026
We had a ton of fun visiting all 3 of the accessible monasteries! Our tour guide was funny and very personable and made the experience fun & we very much enjoyed hearing about the different stories of each monastery. The trip also included stops to some super nice picturesque spots! I would definitely recommend taking this trip - super worth it!

Response from Host, Jul 2026

This was a very long drive, but the sights were well worth it. Bring lots of water for the hikes, but it truly is as beautiful as it looks.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Meteora is breathtaking. Our guide Maria was amazing. Her knowledge and passion were extremely deep. This has been our favorite tour in Greece. Highest recommendation!

Dear Charles, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and highest recommendation! We are delighted to hear that Meteora was your favorite tour in Greece and that you enjoyed the monasteries, caves, and coastal stopovers. Meteora truly is breathtaking, and it makes us very happy to know the experience left such a strong impression on you. A special thank you for your kind words about Maria. Her knowledge, passion, and love for Meteora are exactly what we hope our guests feel during the tour, and we will be very happy to share your feedback with her. Ashley_G, Jun 2026
Very long day, was a very nice bus that took us. Coastal stop was lovely. Meteora cool to see once but after awhile it feels like you are seeing the same thing over and over. To visit the monasteries be prepared to walk, beautiful view.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Dear guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the comfort of the coach, the coastal stop, and the beautiful views of Meteora. You are absolutely right that this is a long full-day trip from Athens, as Meteora is located several hours away, but we try to make the journey more comfortable and enjoyable with the seaside stopovers along the way. Meteora is a truly unique destination, and while the monasteries share a similar setting, each one has its own history, architecture, and atmosphere. We also appreciate your helpful note for future travelers: visiting the monasteries does involve walking and some steps, but the views are definitely worth it. Thank you again for joining us, and we hope you left with some memorable images from this special place. Warm regards, George Visit Meteora

Annamarie_F, Jun 2026
So this was an amazing experience the tour guide was amazing !!! I forget was his name is now I did this one at the very start of my trip but he was a younger guy he was SO funny and personable . So was the other tour guide that worked for the same company they were both absolutely amazing this was such a cool experience the only thing I did not like was the bus didn’t have a bathroom on it and it’s a four hour bus ride one way (8 hours total) you do stop about 2 hours in but I drank a lot of water and found my self realllly struggling on the bus rides to hold it 😅😅 that’s really the only thing I didn’t like I think for a trip like this when you have to keep hydrated not having bathrooms on these buses isn’t great lol you stop about 2 hours in on both bus trips but it just wasn’t enough lol . So I’d opt for more stops or if the company can get a bus with a bathroom that would be the best for a trip like this otherwise it was super awesome and I had a great time as a solo traveler

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you so much for your wonderful and honest review! We’re delighted to hear that you had such an amazing experience and that our guides made the day fun, personal, and memorable. We also really appreciate your feedback about the bus restroom situation. We understand that this is an important comfort point on a long day trip, and we’ll take your comments into serious consideration as we continue improving the experience. We’re very happy you enjoyed the tour as a solo traveler, and we hope to welcome you again in Greece!

Extraordinary!

ELIZABETH_L, Jun 2026
Maria was wonderful. Her stories of growing up the area were entertaining and insightful. The lunch was wonderful and was dinner. The 3 monasteries we toured were so beautiful and the views were stunning. I would highly recommend putting this tour at the top of your list if you plan to visit Athens.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you so much for your extraordinary review! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the monasteries, the breathtaking views, and the meal stops during your day trip from Athens. Maria will be especially happy to know that her stories and local insights made the experience even more meaningful. Your recommendation means a lot to our whole team!

Mystical Marvels

Venessa_R, Jun 2026
We were in awe for the entire adventure. So grateful to take a day away from the Athens city and experience the natural beauty of this part of Greece. Our guide Maria was engaging and very informative always sharing valuable information and pleasant to talk with and be around. The dinner was an extra cost but highly recommended. We enjoyed the beachside dinner, Sea Bass and fried cheese appetizer. Our only negative experience was the menu to order Brunch and Dinner, there was no guide to greet us during the first leg of the bus tour to help clarify the process/menu that is left on the bus seats. We thought we had to order what we wanted for the included lunch (found out later it was a different restaurant and was a buffet) instead the “brunch” was an extra stop and extra charge. We didn’t know it was at the first stop so didn’t know to inquire to receive it. When we went back to the same Camino restaurant for dinner they offered to refund us but we have not seen the refund on our card and that was 3 weeks ago. Otherwise the day was a wonderful experience.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Dear Vanessa, Thank you for your kind and detailed review. We’re delighted you enjoyed Meteora’s beauty and that Maria made the experience engaging and informative. We’re also happy you enjoyed the beachside dinner at Camino. We sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding the brunch, included lunch, and optional dinner menu. To make this clearer, we have created a hard-copy information sheet with a QR code explaining that this first leg of the tour is unguided, but everything guests need to know is just a scan away. The QR code leads to a landing page with the detailed itinerary, FAQs, and chat support. Regarding the refund, please contact us directly with your booking details so we can follow up and help resolve this. Warm regards, The Visit Meteora Team

Melissa_D, Jun 2026
Loved the drivers and tour guide. Although the drive was lengthy to get there, they broke it up appropriately with a brunch stop and had us getting out a lot once we arrived. Stopped at the first brunch place for dinner. It was a great day!

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Dear Melissa, Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re very happy to hear that you loved our drivers and tour guide, and that the journey felt well organized despite the long distance from Athens. We’re glad the brunch and dinner stops helped break up the drive and that you enjoyed your time exploring Meteora once you arrived. Warm regards, The Visit Meteora Team

Dear Annamaria, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the breathtaking beauty and views of Meteora. This was incredible!!...

Nicole_B, Jun 2026
This was INCREDIBLE!! Easily one of the most beautiful and probably the coolest place I’ve ever been in my life. We went to three monasteries and didn’t have a lot of time to nerd out and read all the plaques because there was so much history but lots of time to just wander around and take pictures. Our tour guide Maria was awesome, very knowledgeable and funny. Highly recommend this tour if you just want to do a day trip.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are thrilled to hear that Meteora became one of the most memorable places you have ever visited. Maria will be delighted to know that her knowledge and sense of humor helped make your experience even more special. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back to Meteora for a longer stay next time!

Met all expectations

Andrew_M, Jun 2026
Exactly what we expected. A very long day on the bus that was worth it for the incredible views at Meteora. The bus was pretty comfortable, and the trip was definitely made bearable by the planned stops for brunch and dinner. The food at the stops was nothing special but the system for ordering was efficient and got us in and out on time, though note that turnaround was pretty quick at dinner so some people had less time to eat than us because they made the mistake of ordering larger dishes like steak which took a while to come out. The visits to the actual sites felt appropriately long, neither too short nor too long. Letting us absorb the incredible views without making us impatient to move on. Overall, would say this is a must experience site, whether or not going from Athens makes sense to you is determined by whether you expect to ever travel to northern Greece in the future.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that the experience met your expectations and that the incredible views of Meteora made the journey worthwhile. We are especially proud of our onboard ordering system, which allows guests to pre-order brunch and dinner directly from the coach, helping the restaurant prepare meals in advance and making the stops as efficient and smooth as possible. We're glad you appreciated the pacing of the day and had enough time to enjoy both the sites and the scenery. We hope to welcome you back to Greece again soon!

incredible experience

Maya_D, Jun 2026
A long day trip due to Meteora's distance from Athens, but this is an unforgettable experience. The rock formations and the monasteries are incredible, it seems like there's no way anyone could get up there, but then you get there--it's like magic. Our guide Maria was very knowledgeable and efficient, and the bus was comfortable. We visited three monasteries, which seemed like just the right number. Plenty of options and stops for photos, etc.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the unique beauty of Meteora and found the monasteries and rock formations as magical as we do. We're especially pleased that Maria helped make your experience memorable with her knowledge and guidance. We appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back to Greece and Meteora again in the future!

Good tour

Cheri_H, Jun 2026
Meals were good but rushed. I think it would be better to do 2 monasteries and leave more time for dinner.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for your feedback. We actually agree that a more relaxed pace with extra time for lunch and dinner can make the day even more enjoyable. In the past, we tested an itinerary with fewer monastery visits, but most travelers preferred visiting 3 monasteries, and it proved to be the most popular option compared to competing tours. We appreciate your comments and will continue looking for ways to balance sightseeing and free time.

Impressive Monasteries! Bad Tour Logistics!

Jaime_L, Jun 2026
Our recent visit to the Meteora monasteries from Athens was a blend of breathtaking experiences and some frustrating moments. First and foremost, I have to commend our tour guide, Maria. Her knowledge and passion for the history of Meteora added a rich layer to our visit. She was engaging and attentive, making the journey feel special as she shared fascinating stories about the monasteries and their significance. The stunning views and serene atmosphere of the monasteries were truly awe-inspiring and offered a glimpse into a world of tranquility. However, the experience was somewhat marred by a couple of issues during the trip. During the long bus ride to Meteora, I found myself seated in front of two women who engaged in a lengthy, loud conversation. It was quite distracting and made what should have been a meditative experience challenging. I really wished the bus driver had addressed this, as it detracted from the overall ambiance of the journey. Additionally, the logistics regarding meal arrangements on the way back were poorly managed. I had ordered my food in advance, expecting it to be ready upon our arrival at the restaurant. Unfortunately, our bus driver only allotted 45 minutes for lunch. With a large group of over 40 people, it was evident that this timeframe was insufficient for everyone to enjoy their meal. I ended up receiving my food late and had to rush through my dinner, which was quite disappointing. It would have been much better to allocate at least an hour for the meal, especially since we were returning to Athens late at night anyway. I felt for the waitstaff, who were clearly doing their best to serve everyone quickly. In conclusion, while the Meteora monasteries are a must-see and Maria’s guidance was excellent, the travel logistics left much to be desired. With some adjustments to the meal timing and better management of the bus atmosphere, this tour could be truly exceptional.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the breathtaking Meteora monasteries and that Maria's knowledge, passion, and storytelling helped make your visit memorable. We also appreciate your comments regarding the journey and dinner stop. While it's difficult for drivers to intervene in normal passenger conversations during public group tours, we understand how a noisy environment can affect comfort on a long trip. Regarding dinner, pre-ordering is designed to speed up service, but on busy days unexpected delays can occasionally occur despite everyone's best efforts. We continuously review our timings with our restaurant partners to improve the experience. Your feedback is valuable and helps us refine our operations. We hope to welcome you back to Meteora for an even smoother experience in the future.

Great Day

Linda_W, Jun 2026
Long day but worth it. We did the extra stop for quick breakfast and dinner and it added a nice break to the long bus ride. Driver and tour guide was great.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for your kind review! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your day trip to Meteora and found the coastal breakfast and dinner stops to be a welcome break during the journey. It's also wonderful to know that both your driver and guide helped make the experience enjoyable. We hope to welcome you back to Meteora on another adventure in the future!

There are a couple busses...

Stacie_R, Jun 2026
This was an amazing tour and a great experience. The guide was great and gave a lot of information. You do go at your own pace inside of the each monetary without the guide. You will get amazing photos. Things you should know ahead of time, there are a couple busses going out on this tour, you will have to find your bus it was a little confusing. There is not a guide on the bus ride, the guide joins you in the town Kastraki below Meteora. You may want to bring something to occupy your time on the drive. There are three meal stops, I didn’t realize this. The breakfast and dinner spot is the same and the food was good scenery was beautiful. Lunch is at the town Kastraki below Meteora before you go to the monasteries. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and climbing stairs but it’s worth it!

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for your detailed review and for sharing helpful tips for future travelers! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the experience, the stunning scenery, and the insights provided by your guide. Meteora is indeed a place that rewards every step with unforgettable views and unique photo opportunities. We also appreciate your observations regarding the departure process. As several tours depart from the same meeting area in Athens, our team is always present to assist guests in finding the correct coach, and we continuously look for ways to make the process even smoother. We're glad you enjoyed the meal stops and the beautiful seaside setting along the route. Thank you for joining us, and we hope to welcome you back to Meteora again in the future!

Excellent tour and a fantastic experience . Our guide, sorry I forgot his name, being born and living in the area shared us a lot of knowledge.
