We had read a canal cruise was a “can’t miss” experience when in Amsterdam and it was most certainly true! The architecture, history, and beauty of the city was on full display and a private cruise was well worth the cost. Our guide customized our tour based on our conversations and the cruise quickly became one of our favorite activities during the trip. Highly recommend taking in the evening for breathtaking views of the homes and houseboats along the route.

Highly recommend - best way to see Amsterdam

There is nothing better than taking a canal tour with a true local with a deep understanding of the history and culture of Amsterdam. The boat was extremely comfortable and electric so no motor noise!! Highly recommend - and would repeat since each time you'd see new parts of this amazing city.

Perfect Private Canal Experience with an Amazing Guide

Outstanding experience. The private canal cruise was the perfect way to see Amsterdam. It was relaxing, scenic, and a great break from walking the city. Watching other boats packed with people made us appreciate even more having the boat to just the two of us. Pap was the highlight. Incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and easy to talk to. He shared great insights without making it feel like a lecture, which made the whole experience even better. The boat was comfortable, the drinks were a nice touch, and the pace was exactly right. Easily one of the best things we did in Amsterdam. Highly recommend.

Deep gave us the 90 minute tour. He was on time. He mentioned that he recently had returned to Amsterdam after several years. While the boat is great and Deep has great experience with boats, we found his attitude off putting and hence the 3 stars. We had arranged our requests ahead of time but did not get much information or history. We had to ask a lot of questions hoping for information. The tour got better toward the end however where Deep gave us more information primarily on some ships docked at the Marine museum. Boats are clearly Deep’s passion. The communication with the organizers of the tour via Viator prior to the trip was very good. Following this tour, we took another commercial tour to get more details of popular sites and Amsterdam’s history.

Our 90 min Private Family Canal Cruise was on May 9,2023 at 7pm Despite the evening being cool and rainy the cruise was amazing the boat was completely covered and the seats were heated and dry. There was even hot tea for us to enjoy because of the cool evening. Mark our tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative, he answered all of our questions about the city and the canals. I would highly recommend the private tour for groups of 6-10, there were 6 of us and it was perfect, lots of space to sit comfortably and to move around to take pictures. Thanks for a great evening!!

Pick up was in time at exact location. Paap, the captain was very friendly, but had expected more of what was offered for the price we paid (almost €180). we did not know if drinks were included. We were not asked if wanted any cover or not, or blankets, since it was a bit snippy this day. A little bit to little information on buildings etc., except if we asked. The map we were shown on where we were going, was on a pillow beside the captain. The big plus, was that we were offered to be dropped of at location of choice, since it was said it was at the same as pick up.

This was excellent value for money and we had the boat all to ourselves with a friendly and amusing captain. The trip took us through the canals, out into the AmstelRiver and to the edge of the harbour. It was just the right length of tour. Our guide was terrific. He told us a lot about what we were seeing and he couldn’t have been more enjoyable. Seeing Amsterdam from the canals after walking the streets also offered a unique perspective. And being on a private tour looked infinitely better than being a sardine on a large tour boat.
