Make your way to the start of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to being your day of adventure. The tram operates throughout the day, so the timing and duration of your experience is up to you.
As you climb aboard the world's largest rotating tramcars, be prepared to rise from the floor of the Sonoran Desert, where temperatures frequently reach as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit (48C) to the cool alpine air at 8,516 feet (2,838 meters). Pass through enormous Ponderosa pines in this arctic-alpine forest, enjoying views of the San Jacinto Mountains and Chino Canyon.
When you reach Mountain Station, disembark to explore the facilities, which include observation decks, a cocktail lounge and dining facilities. Pause to watch a short film on the construction of the Tramway, then head out into the 14,000-acre (5,665-hectare) Mt San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness Area. Make use of the 54 miles (87 km) of hiking trails on foot in the summer or by snowshoe or cross-country skis in the winter.

- Tramway cars hold 80 people each and there are no seats. Passengers remain standing throughout the journey up the mountain
- Distance is approximately 12,800 feet, with a vertical ascent of 5,873 feet - 15 minutes travel time one way
- The tramway is known as a double reversible type of aerial tramway. Each car remains on one pair of track cables moving up and down without turning around. Each car serves as a counter balance to the other, the descending car is helping pull the ascending car up the mountain
- Strollers are permitted on this tour
- During holiday periods, you may experience long lines. We recommend you travel outside of these peak times to fully enjoy everything the tramway and mountain have to offer.

- There is parking in 13 paved lots near Valley Station. There is free shuttle service from parking lots to Valley Station entrance available weekends and holiday periods

It was beautiful and fun. The workers in the tram were a blast! Would definitely recommend it to friends.
Very unique experience ascending to 8,000+ feet. I was quite nervous as I’m not too fond of heights but overall, I’m glad we did it. Beautiful views and gorgeous mountains to hike through once you’re at the top.
Fantastic views. Fun ride up and down on the tramway. $15.00 parking was a little steep. The food and drinks at the top are fairly expensive.
A little colder at the top so sweatshirt or coat would be a good idea. If you want to eat at the Peak Restaurant (highly recommend), a reservation is helpful. It is a beautiful and educational experience. Something for everyone!

The weather is definitely cooler up top and windy so be prepared! It is the most spectacular view of the entire Coachella valley ! The restaurant was incredible and the hiking is steep and fun!
Take a sweater tennis shoes view is amazing!! If ur afraid of heights just look up..love that u can hike at the top
What a fun adventure from give or take 230 foot elevation up to 8500 foot elevation. Great volunteers, workers, cocktails, and food.
E prepared for unexpected weather. It was sunny when we left Palm Springs but when we got to the top it was foggy, then rained and then snowed. So be prepared with your clothing.
A really beautiful experience. Make sure to bring a jacket or sweater as the temp drops 40 degrees up the mountain. Tram drivers are a hoot. The restraint has good food. The museum and shows are very informative.
The tramway was a smooth ascent and the scenery was beautiful along the way. Breathtaking! The accommodations at the top were excellent. We ate at the Peaks restaurant and it was so good. The hiking trails were very manageable for this senior and I loved every minute of it.
The ride up was terrifying, but not unexpected for me. The bumps over. The towers took my breath away. As did the views of the valley below. Wow! Ralph, our operator was very good about giving us a heads up where we would feel a lurch. At the top, it took about 5 mins for my heart rate to return to normal. But the views were worth it! We planned our trip so it was still light out but we would also see the valley lit up at dark. A great move. We had an adult beverage to give me some liquid courage for the ride down. I wasn't necessary. Gil kept us entertained on the ride down with sing along music and disco lights.
I have been to PS many times but this was my first trip on the tram. Because of my dislike of heights, I am not likely to return, but I will recommend it to everyone who visits.

Packed in like sardines with people stepping and falling into you all the way up and down. The view was nice and we took a short hike while up top but I wouldn’t do it again
Tour does not list and not flexible with departure times. Booking direct would have been better. We did not receive information untill it was the day before too late for a refund :(
Once you reach the top, there are hiking trails, a dining area, and a gift shop. The tram is quick, rotates, but feels stable. I had a good time.
Enjoy the hikes- it is really beautiful at the top; find a quiet spot and just take in the beauty of nature;
The trails are easy to navigate even for non hikers. The views are breathtaking and make sure you stop by the park ranger office for a map.

I was on the tram 30 years ago. It was 120 in PS but it was 60 degrees on top.
This time it was in the 70’s and the jackets we brought weren’t necessary. I was disappointed in the lack of cold.

Buy your ticket directly from the Tram’s official website. They don’t respect any other sites, even though you have a barcode, they treat you like a criminal & ask for ID as though you stole the barcode. You must go through a long line to get this treatment. Just buy it directly. The Tram ride & restaurant was great.
It was great, will definitely go back again! We love nature and adventure. Great with kids, families and group of friends.
Even though we booked the 10:30 tram, we were told that since we had these types of tickets, we did NOT have a confirmed time. Luckily, we were able to get on the 10:45 one. Also, whoever books the tickets MUST show a driver's license as identification to redeem the tickets. Fortunately, my husband has the same last name as me and the ticketing person let us in. Really not the right way to start the trip.
It was overcast, but it was still enjoyable. We knew the visibility was zero at the top, but we were able to see on one side.
The cooler temperature was a wonderful reprieve from the summer heat! The engineering feat is a wonder to behold ~

We enjoyed riding the tram and walking around at the top . I think this is a good 2 hour activity. Would recommend
I loved the tram ride. It is very relaxing and exilerating at the same time. Although your standing up for the duration of the ride, everyone gets the same viewpoint. The floor rotates during the ride so allow everyone to enjoy the same panoramic views. The price for the tickets are reasonable as it brings money into the city.
This is a must when coming to PAL springs. It was 118 degree when we got on the tram but once we got to the top it was a beautiful 82 degree.
The scenery is magnificent going up and at the top it only got better. I’m scared of heights but I stayed in the middle of the tram which made it easy to tolerate the 8000 altitude.
