Our Guide/driver, Shane was knowledgeable, helpful and easy going, so no stressful deadlines. We had plenty of time to see what we wanted. He even added a stop so we could get a good photograph of a bold eagle. Would reccomend this tour!

This was a great tour. Ava was the best tour guide! Being a native to Ketchikan, she was able to provide such an authentic perspective of the island. We saw so many bald eagles right above our heads. Ava knew so much about the wildlife including salmon and bears. She talked all about the plants and vegetation. She clearly was very knowledgeable about the way of life in Ketchikan. I highly recommend this tour. Be ready to keep up with her lively banter and enthusiasm as you make many stops around the island to see all the beautiful spots!

Small group. Great guide.

We went with a small group of 6 in a van with Stormin’ Norm. He was a wealth of information from living in Alaska for 80 years.

All-in-one tour in Ketchikan

Casey_M, May 2026
The trip had plenty of stops for scenic photos and provided a lot of history. There was a fair amount on how to read totem poles and the significance of the totem poles in Ketchikan. My wife and 3 teenagers enjoyed the tour, took plenty of photos, and even saw a black bear. Worth it.

Amazing Ketichan

Annalyn_G, May 2026
What a great excursion. I saw so much of the island. Norman was an amazing tour guide. He grew up in Ketichan and knew so much about the island. I highly recommend this tour.

Lovely people, amazing history and culture just remember that it rains a lot in Ketchikan so be prepared. Wildlife depends on season.

Not a great experience

Seokho_K, May 2026
Not much to see for two and a half hour driving - no salmon but a small creek, a small cascade fall but not impressive, no bear, no animals, a few totems, and a lot of driving. The guide drives but not much talk or explanation.

Response from Host, May 2026

You choose a time early in the season we can't just call the fish in because visitors are here. The bears are just coming down off the mountain tops. An we visited the home of the largest totem pole collection in S.e Alaska. But we do thank you for your review.

Lots of local knowledge, and helpful

Disappointed, event was cancelled, after start of tour, we called and were told they to cancel. Notice should have been communicated via call or text.

Tara_C, Sep 2025
Our tour guide was Ava. She was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun. We didn’t get to see any bears but she tried very hard to make it happen. We did see deer, a bald eagle and some seals. Maybe if we’d done an earlier tour that day the bears would have been hungry? Awesome tour. Would do it again!

Adventure

Great excursion

Shane was awesome. He knew everything we asked about, was super fun, and definitely knew his stuff. He knew exactly where to look for the bears, Eagles, and was a really nice guy.

Well organised. Awesome wildlife viewing. I would do it again tomorrow! Great little boat with just 6 of us on board. Friendly hugely knowledgable guide.

Waste of time and money

julie_m, Sep 2025
You don’t go to a beach. If the cove was to see the bears we went there 4 times on one trip ? The tour guide didn’t have a mic so couldn’t hear him. As for salmon swimming up stream ? What stream. Weather was bad which didn’t help but waste of money for what we paid.

Meet and Beat Expectations

What a wonderful excursion in Ketchikan. Our driver Shane was bound and determined to find a bear for our group. Persistence paid off.

Abandoned

William_P, Sep 2025
We were a party of 9 and they no showed. We had to book with another tour. Trying to get our money back.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

You group of 9 was not abandoned. You showed up to a 10:30 tour at 10:45. We had 42 other visitors who showed up on time. Checked in with our representative and enjoyed their tour. Your group of 9. Had no communication until after the tour vans pulled out. You picked your tour date and time. You booked a shared 2.5 hour tour. No communication was made. Until after tour time. We will not hold vans for passengers who decide to show up late. As doing this causes our other guests who show up on time. To miss out on their 2.5 hours. Our representative was there Multiple vans went out. Many guests showed up on time.. Abandoned no , left behind to ensure our other guests who show up on time. Their full 2.5 hours. With time to enjoy each stop. We will not ruin anyone else's trip. To accommodate late guests. Simple as that. If you book a shared tour. Show up on time. (( We offer a later tour to late guests) We do not give refunds for poor planning.

Must Book

Sheena_B, Sep 2025
Absolutely hands down great tour!! The cost is amazing for all you get!! The instructions to get there were very CLEAR, the tour guide Shane is not only knowledgeable but completely authentic and personable!! Ignore the bad reviews and just book this- you will LOVE it!! Waterfalls, exploring the beach, Herring Cove, native village with totem poles, scenic van ride and tons of wildlife!! A must do!

Rude, aggressive, probably racist

Joyce_D, Sep 2025
Our confirmation & voucher were emailed after we set sail. I arrived at 8:04 and the merchant was very aggressive and rude. He berated me and my 69 year old mother for being late. We began reaching out to him at 7:23am. Our first conversation he did not tell us we weren't looking for a shuttle or that the pick up location wasn't in front of the ship. He seemed very unfulfilled with his job there resulting in his less than positive demeanor. He abruptly told us we weren't coming on the excursion.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

1. Your made contact at 6am asking about meeting location. 2 Your ship let you disembark at 6:45 3. You booked a 8am tour. 4. Some how you were still 20 Minutes late. 5 Your son thought it was a good idea to curse at my representative. 6. Your tour was not given due to your tardiness. And your sons rude behavior. Yes you lost all curtesy. When your son cursed. Yes you were not given a tour because you were late. Nothing more Nothing less. We work with many guests who show up late. But when your ship is docked right next to our meeting location. AND you show up 20 mins late. And try to curse folks out. It's very inconsiderate to other guests who show up on time. When you cuss at someone. Expect to get back what you give. An ill leave it at that.

Worst Viator Tour Ever

Donald_S, Sep 2025
This tour was a waste of time and money. The "guide" was nothing more than a driver that didn't really explain much of anything about where we were going or what we were doing. Jeanette(?) just talked on and on about her family issues. The internet description of what we were going to do and see was way overblown. The mere suggestion that we might see some wildlife was so overblown given where the tour actually took us. We (and all of the others on our tour van) were extremely disappointed. Tour date was 9/8/25 at 1:15pm
